The Full Midi Skirt

One of the new trends for Spring/Summer 14 is the full midi skirt, and it’s one look that I have been lusting over for quite some time. The full midi skirt is so timeless and elegant and its a item that holds no boundaries, whether it be day or night.

The first look is all about texture. A full midi skirt in leather, combined with a chambray shirt that’s intended to be tucked into the skirt, with the sleeves pushed up gives the elegance a slight edge. A pair of round toed court shoes, a pair of Prada sunnies and a Mulberry tote add to the stylish look and a swipe of Tom Ford in Cherry Lush to complete the outfit, Whether shopping or for a lunch date or even to the office, this outfit is going to be heading into my wardrobe without a doubt.

The second outfit is about simple, yet stylish. I had the image of Audrey Hepburn in my head when I was styling this skirt. The cut of the skirt is so beautiful and will hang just right. A sweater in this seasons pastel trend will look great, and for those who are a bit more daring a cropped sweater will look amazing. A statement necklace and simple but beautiful earrings will set the outfit off to a tee and a pair of super sexy, strappy sandals and a vintage Chanel bag finish off the sophisticated look.

There is a bit of a debate as to whether midi skirts would suit shorter ladies, and the answer is yes! A pair of heels will elongate your legs and if you are still not sure of the length, try taking it up an inch or two, like Carrie Bradshaw and her amazing Jill Stuart dress from Sex and The City.

A brightly coloured full midi skirt can be teamed with a patterned jumper or slogan t-shirt to keep it casual like the bottom image. I have seen some beautiful full midi skirts around, including a gorgeous cobalt blue satin one. I think its safe to say that this is one of the trends that I am happy to follow and will be filling my wardrobe with!
