I want the summer weather! Where is it? I actually really want to go on holiday, as I am starting to miss the old long haul at the moment but I cannot see a light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to being able to get back to work. The day that my back decided to give up the ghost has really changed a lot of things in my life, including being able to get a natural tan, and to also keep myself trim enough to slip into a bikini. I must stop the packets of biscuits whilst sat at home, as it’s not helping matters. Anyway, I’m digressing. Whilst I’ve been dreaming of the sunshine and distant shores, I spent some time putting together some pieces for my perfect holiday get away. Keeping the glamour whilst looking stylish and sophisticated is what I want from my beach wear and I think I have hit the jackpot with my choices.
Simply Beach is a website that was totally new to me, but I wish I had discovered it many years ago. A one stop shop for all things holidays from some of my favourite brands such as Panache, Melissa Odabash and Ted Baker. I had a bit of a splurge and I found the most amazing bikini and matching kaftan from Fantasie. Having a considerable bust, I’ve never been able to just pop into a high street shop and get a matching bikini set for £10. It does usually cost me around £60 for a full bikini set, and although this sounds quite expensive to some, I find that the money I have spent is worthwhile due to the fit and quality. I have bikinis that have quite literally lasted me for years. I’m sure the Fantasie Caya Bikini Top at £42 and matching Fantasie Caya Mid Rise Briefs at £26 will be no exception. In a bold animal print, with a gathered full cup style, the bikini top is flattering whilst it fits beautifully. I also find that due to the strong pattern that it draws away attention from my cleavage and centres it around the style of the bikini rather than focusing on my body. The mid rise briefs are also a welcome change from the tiny little bikini bottoms that I am seeing on girls these days. I wish I had the confidence to wear them but I just couldn’t!
A beach cover up is almost as important as the actual bikini. It’s quite funny really because I have certain requirements from a beach kaftan. I want to be able to wear it for breakfast and lunch without it being too revealing and I like it to be opaque enough that it doesn’t show off my skin, and long enough to cover my bum. Simple really. The matching Fantasie Caya Kaftan at £48 is just perfect. It sits at the length so it’s more like a dress, whilst you can just see the outline of my bikini underneath without revealing everything. It also has tie sides to cinch in the kaftan making it look more stylish.
I’ve always wanted a big oversized sunhat that reminds me of glamorous film stars, lazing by the pool in their finery. I found this amazing one by Gottex on the Simply Beach site, and it was love at first sight. It’s huge, and its over the top and it’s so me that it hurts. How can you be in love with a hat? The Gottex Belladonna Wide Brimmed Hat, £47 is defintely my holiday essential. It’s also made of a material that will bounce back if squashed or rolled into your case – I checked!
Now, I don’t know about you but I absolutely cannot bear carrying round a huge beach bag. I can fit all I need in a small bag when heading to the beach. Aside from suncream, which I prefer to apply in my room prior to heading out, I only like to keep a lip balm with SPF and a small tube of SPF50 with me, as well as my Kindle, ear phones, cards and cash. I really have managed to start packing light these days. The Seafolly Carried Away Utility bag, £30 is ideal for the beach. Gold and shimmery, I particularly love the dangling Pineapple charm on the side of the bag. Inside the bag, there’s plenty of space for the essentials as well as a zip up section to put my phone and kindle in. The gold colour makes it very wearable with the majority of my existing bikinis and it looks great with the Fantasie Caya set.
I wouldn’t usually put a pair of wedges with beach wear but I was feeling quite fancy and spotting my Head Over Heels by Dune London wedges, I thought they were absolutely perfect for holidays. The Head Over Heels range by Dune London is still the same great quality as Dune but with a slightly lower price point. These wedges are a few seasons old but they do have some great styles in at the moment.
I’ve also added a pair of absolutely fabulous sunglasses by Tom Ford. These are my second pair of Tom Ford sunglasses, the first being called Anoushka with these, the Tom Ford Valeria. I found them at Discounted Sunglasses for just £129 instead of the £225 RRP. They are from a previous season however they do have some styles in that are quite current. I often find that online stores that sell sunglasses and the like at cheaper prices make me quite wary but the fact the Discounted Sunglasses have a TrustPilot rating of 9.3 and also receiving genuine and authentic sunglasses has made me very happy. I’ll definitely be looking for a new pair soon and to expand my collection.
All this talk of holidays has made me just want to pack my bags and disappear into the horizon. Where should I go next?
