Being a frequent traveller, I have to have a capsule wardrobe that’s ready to go at a moments notice. I leave my suitcase half packed as you never know when the phone is going to ring, asking me to jet off to the other side of the world. Being away from home a lot of the time means that I don’t get chance to wear a lot of my fashion that is suited best to the UK weather, so I indulge in holiday specific clothing and accessories. A good pair of sunglasses, a sleek clutch bag and my purse that can be taken from the UK to abroad without the need to swap all my cards from one to another. There’s three items that I have been loving lately and have been with me for the last few weeks whilst I’ve been away, and they are definitely my holiday fashion essentials.

A good purse lasts a long time, and there are a few specifics that I look for when choosing my latest one. I need a coin compartment that’s big enough to hold handfuls of change, several slots for cards and something that fits with my personal style. The Ted Baker Lindar Crystal Rose Gold Bow purse is a travel exclusive design, although there are variations from Ted Baker retailers. The nude patent leather and rose gold hardware is exactly what I want in a purse, and holds everything that I need. It opens to reveal card slots for the most used cards, a clip compartment for change, slots for notes and receipts, which I really must go through, as well as a smaller coin zip compartment on the rear. Although it retails for around £75, I have found it to be one of the better quality non designer purses that I’ve owned. As it’s coming up to around a year of owning it, it still looks as good as new with the patent leather being quite hardwearing. I’ve yet to find any scratches or any damage and wear and tear to the hardware. House of Fraser does have a style that’s very similar to the Lindar; the Cecile Large Flapover purse.

For travelling, I need a clutch bag that fulfils all my needs. One that can be taken out as a clutch, or as a small shoulder bag, that fastens securely and has zipped compartments that can keep items secure. I received this Koko Couture clutch* before Christmas and it was ideal for My my New Year night out. Taking away the need for a purse, the clutch bag has built in card compartments, a large space for essentials like my phone and make up, and a zipped compartment for my keys and cash. The shoulder strap can be removed and the grey colour of the bag works with most of my neutral colour palette wardrobe. Although the current design isn’t available anymore, I’d be more than happy to add more Koko Couture bags to my collection, with their reasonable prices and great quality fabrics.

I have a slight obsession at the moment with sunglasses, especially the ones from Quay Australia. I’m like a woman possessed and often find myself stalking the ASOS website looking for the Quay sale and trying to justify that £40 is a reasonable amount to spend on a pair of sunglasses that will inevitably get ruined by being smashed into my bag or sitting on them by accident when sitting on my sun lounger. The Quay Australia My Girl Cat Eyes with Mirror lenses were unashamedly purchased because they are so Instagrammable. I have no shame. Saying that, they are a great pair of glasses and really do protect my eyes from the sun and mirrored lenses reflect the glare. I’ve just been browsing and there are a few pairs in the sale, and I have an itchy trigger finger. Somebody stop me!

Do you have any holiday fashion essentials that you can’t go away without? I’d love to know what you suggest.

I truly believe that I have started to unleash my inner vintage vamp. Although I have always loved the classic shapes and style, I’ve started to become a lot more confident when it comes to wearing the Rockabilly style clothes. A flared out midi skirt has become one of my favourite styles to wear and now, I seem to be going for more cinched in waists and swing skirts. Who would have thought it? Paying homage to the vintage ladies from the Silver Screen, Lindy Bop have brought out a range of dresses that wouldn’t seem out of place on ladies like Grace Kelly and Ava Gardner, whilst heading to flamboyant parties hosted by The Great Gatsby.

One of my all time favourite books happens to be The Great Gatsby and when I saw my Silver Screen Ritz white embellished dress, my first thought was of Gatsby so I had to try and emulate the classic hair and makeup that was popular in the 1920’s. The Ritz dress is in a classic flapper style, heavily beaded all over with beautiful sheer sleeves and with a modest hemline. I feel so elegant and sophisticated in it, and I can’t help but swish the dress around when it’s on. It does have a lining underneath the dress so a slip isn’t needed, and a double lining across the bust to hide your bra. For a fully beaded dress, it’s in now way heavy or bulky and unlike another beaded dress that I own, which is way to heavy to dance in, this one is quite light in comparison.

A pair of vintage inspired shoes had to be paired with my dress and as soon as I saw the Rita Pink Glitter Shoes, I had to have them. Peep toed, with a low enough heel to party through the night, they are stunning. Decorated with kitsch bows and with an ankle strap that would cater for all sizes of ankle, they are a beautiful shoe. Usually, I struggle with peep toes as the cut of the peep sits on the base of my nail causing pressure, however with the wider fit of the shoe, the comfort is second to none. I feel like I should be spinning around a ballroom in my outfit.

For a Gatsby inspired look, I’ve used my ghd Ultimate Styler to create soft curls. Once cool, using a paddle brush by Andrew Collinge, I brushed through the curls to make a subtle and sleek wave, and smoothed them down with the Andrew Collinge Definer. A heavy eye and lip are very reminscent of the 1920s, with a thinner, less full brow. As I didn’t want to mess my actual brows, I’ve gone through them and given them a straighter look with barely any product to fill them in. Using shadows in greys and blacks, I built up the colour on my lids, adding liner and mascara to give a heavy smoked look. On my lips, I used a MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipstick in High Drama. These liquid lipsticks are fab, and it took me a long while to try them, but now I have, I’m a convert. A beauty spot finishes off the quintessential vintage look and although it’s totally out of my comfort zone by having dark eyes, and dark lips and wearing them both together, I actually really like the finished look. It’s just a shame that you can see just how swollen my face is from having a viral infection. Ah well, needs must!

Hope you have a wonderful New Years Eve everyone and wishing you all the best for 2017. I’m going to be taking a short break from the blog for the first few weeks of January whilst I catch up on admin and all the other behind the scenes things that have piled up. See you all soon!

Twelve months ago, I took my first set of outfit photos for a blog post about dresses for Christmas. Little did I know that it would lead to a series of Girl In The Mirror posts where I have since amassed around 20 fashion posts. Not bad for someone who really wasn’t sure about doing fashion posts. Now, I need to expand my range and take Girl In The Mirror into the great outdoors. Can I do it? I’m not a hundred per cent sure, but as my confidence has grown over the last twelves months, I suppose it’s time to turn the can’ts into cans. Ready for New Years Eve, I’ve chosen a beautiful dress from my loves at Chi Chi London. The Chi Chi London Caggie dress is not only perfect for parties but it was the dress that I wore when I was on the Real Housewives of Cheshire. Eek.

My love for Chi Chi London hasn’t waned throughout 2016, in fact it’s got stronger. The dresses make me feel like royalty, a Princess in my midi skirts and flared out tulle numbers. I only wish I had more events to go to where I can wear them, and even buy more. There’s something special about surrounded by layers of petticoats and tulle layers, and it makes me feel so girly and feminine which is something that doesn’t happen often in your thirties. Caggie is the style of dress that Chi Chi do very well. A sweetheart neckline with mesh panelling to preserve modesty, with an exposed back that brings a certain sexiness to the dress. Unlike my beautiful Orlaith dress, the Caggie is shorter and flirtier, but still retains that demure style. The skirt sits to my knee, making my legs look slimmer than they ever have done in the past, whilst the cut of the dress to the waist nips me in before flaring out. I’m totally contemplating picking up the style in other colours, especially now that there is a whopping sale on.

Navy blue and rose gold are such a glamorous colour combination of for an event as glam as New Years, it’s my first choice for a special night out. A classic pair of barely there heels such as the Chi Chi Kendall heels are my first port of call. Rose gold, metallic with a reasonable sized heel and triple ankle strap, I adore these shoes. Usually, I wouldn’t be able to walk in such strappy shoes, but the ankle strap is just the right width that it holds the foot in place whilst still look elegant.

Completing the outfit with a clutch that holds the essentials, the Chi Chi Han bag has been used more than any other of my bags in recent weeks and it still looks brand new. Compact yet deceiving inside, it fits my phone and make up in with ease. It does also come with a chain to turn it into a shoulder bag but I do prefer it as a clutch.

Back in August, I was invited along to the launch of Lauren Stones perfume at The Fox in Hale. A fabulous night filled with prosecco and laughs, whilst it was filmed for an upcoming episode of the Real Housewives of Cheshire. I did manage to grab a screenshot of my television appearance, whilst I stood in the background of the shot dressed in my Chi Chi Caggie dress.

Well, would you bloomin’ believe it? It’s Christmas Day and I am so excited to be spending the day with my beautiful family. There are certain traditions that most families carry out each year, and this year there has been a slight bit of upheaval. For one, I am on standby with work until lunchtime today, so whilst you’re reading this I could be en route to the airport. We’ve also decided to change the order of the day and instead of having a sit down Christmas dinner, we are have a festive feast in the form of a Christmas Carvery buffet. One tradition that is remaining the same, is that I have a brand new outfit for Christmas Day. I like to treat myself each year, and even if it’s just a Christmas jumper, like my Prosecco Ho Ho jumper, it’s so satisfying to know that you have something new to wear on the big day.

This year, I’ve gone all out and chosen a gorgeous outfit from Oliver Bonas. I’ve been waiting an age for Oliver Bonas to open in Manchester and whilst there is an store open in Manchester Piccadilly, I’ve also spied a new store under construction at St.Annes Square in Manchester City Centre. I’m so excited. Being a huge fan of the homeware, which I will be looking at in closer detail in the New Year when I start to decorate my wardrobe room, my eye caught the fashion section and I spotted some pieces that I loved from the offset.

Toning down the Christmas jumper this year, I have gone for a more subtle and sophisticated look. In a fine metallic navy knit, the Oliver Bonas Make Believe jumper is so cosy. It sparkles in the light without being too over the top and the Make Believe embroidery is not only a nod to Christmas, but has resonance with Disney and our youth. As the jumper isn’t too Christmassy, it’s suitable for wear all year round. I can’t tell you how many jumpers that I have that can only be worn one month a year. I’m very tempted to grab it in the silver blend as well.

My most favourite item in my wardrobe right now has to be the Joselyn Metallic skirt. A vegan friendly leather skirt, it sits on my shape perfectly. it drops from the hips to a modest length hemline with room to move without feeling constricted. I do seem to go for key items across the season with this leather skirt being the second one that I have added to my wardrobe. Again, it’s another piece of clothing that isn’t restricted to one season and I can take this into S/S17 with ease. For the winter period, I’ve paired it up with a pair of vibrant purple tights, which I believe were from Marks and Spencer, many moons ago. I love the thought of the transition of this skirt from winter into spring, with lightweight slouchy sweaters and statement jewellery. I’ve been keeping my jewellery minimal this season, preferring to wear my Pandora stacked ring and my gorgeous Rose Gold and White Sapphire Gemstone from Rocks and Co.

With it being Christmas, I’ve gone all out and matched my silver skirt to some really out there silver shoes and a matching bag. I’m becoming quite obsessed with Love The Sales as I’m finding some amazing things from several different websites, all under one website. One of the brands is ASOS, which as you all know has so many products that sometimes finding sale products is quite difficult. What I have found are the ASOS Signal Pointed toe shoes, which look great worn with jeans as well as my Christmas outfit, as well as the Nali Star Clutch. Although I probably won’t be wearing these two items for long on Christmas Day, I’m pleased that they can both be worn with other outfits in the future.

I just want to wish each and every one of my loyal readers a very merry Christmas and I hope that you all have a wonderful day. I’ll be continuing to blog for the rest of December so I shall catch up with you all on social media to see what Santa brought.

When the weather outside is frightful, and the fire is so delightful… the last thing that I want to be doing is heading off outside into the cold air. However, needs must and I need to stop being a hermit. The only way to protect myself from the elements is layering up against the cool air and a mixture of thermals, thick tights and cosy jumpers have been playing a huge part in my wardrobe right now. With the Christmas festivities upon us, a trip to the world famous Manchester Christmas Markets was on the cards, but first, I needed some new boots to wear before I headed off for a gluhwein or two. Trying to take outfit photos at the Christmas Markets is a difficult task when it seems that the entire population of Manchester is there, so it’s back to the traditional Girl In The Mirror.

Thermal underwear isn’t probably the coolest thing to wear but I absolutely swear by them. Having spent a great deal of time in extreme weather conditions such as Canada in the winter, I soon learnt of the importance of layering up with fine layers, that hold the heat in. The Heat Holders from Sock Shop are some of my favourite thermals, and I’ve been wearing the long sleeved thermal vest under all my lighter knitwear. For extra warmth under jeans, the thermal leggings are so cosy. There’s no better feeling that being warm and toasty is there?

I’ve often found that oversized knitwear isn’t very flattering if you have a bust, and where as I’d usually avoid anything with a roll neck, I couldn’t stop myself from buying this Roll Neck Sweater from New Look. At just £9.99, I wouldn’t mind one in every single colour. Although it looks great worn loose with jeans, I find that when it’s tucked in to my River Island black leather look skirt, the overall look is a lot more stylish and polished. Black tights cover up bare legs before I slipped them into my new Belle Boots from Hotter Shoes.

Heading into Hotter Shoes on the day I was to go straight to the Christmas markets was a bit of a chance. Wearing brand new shoes to trek around the Christmas markets would normally be one of my worst nightmares. The thought of blisters and rubbed feet isn’t nice, nor is the healing time post wear especially with party shoe season heading our way. I chose the Hotter Shoes Belle boot in black. Made from the softest nubuck leather, the boots are built for extreme comfort. I know that most women do struggle with long boots, with the calf area being a problem. The Belle boot overcomes this problem a design that works around the calves, with a full length stretch zip on the inner, elasticated panelling for extra stretch and adjustable buckles, which I have been able to use to tighten up my boots. The boots themselves are definitely made for walking and the cushioned insole kept my feet warm and they honestly feel like I am walking on air. Having been wearing Hotter Shoes for the last few years for work, I appreciate just how much a good shoe is worth. I have no issues in buying fast fashion shoes, but having a sturdy pair of comfortable shoes and boots, well you just can’t beat it. An investment? Definitely, but worth every single penny. My mum will be so proud that I’m wearings sensible shoes again. Belle also come in a dark tan colour, which i’m really tempted by.

Is anyone feeling festive yet? Last week in New York certainly made me feel in the Christmas spirit, but I feel like it has faded again. I really want to embrace it; put on a Christmas jumper, drink all the mulled wine, wrap presents and watch Home Alone several times. I do love a good Christmas jumper, and although most are quite bulky and chunky to wear, I have found some that a lot more sophisticated and chic in how they look. The dolls at Joanie Clothing have absolutely nailed the chic Christmas trend, and I have picked up some new pieces for the festive season which are not only adorable, but so cute and quirky too.

It’s been more than obvious over the last several Girl In The Mirror posts at just how much I adore a midi skirt. With a highly flattering hemline, and a fit and flare style that cinches in at my waist before skimming my hips, I find them to be a style that looks elegant and makes me feel really grown up. I do love the vintage and retro style of clothing that Joanie Clothing have to offer, and the selection of midi skirts is making me want to hand over my credit card in an instant. I’ve chosen the Edie Tulle skirt, which is just to die for. The double mesh layered skirt is covered with velvet polka dots, and features an exposed zip at the rear with a ribbon waistband. It does run slightly small in sizing as it sits quite high up on the waist but its comfortable non the less. The length of the skirt is shorter than a midi skirt, with the outer mesh layer falling to my knees with the underskirt sitting a few inches above the knee. It’s modest yet still flirty and fun.

A festive jumper is a must for Christmas and I think that I have found the best jumper on the market. Combining my love of Christmas, with my love for prosecco, the Fizz Prosecco Christmas jumper is just fabulous. A classic slim fit jumper, in a fine knit, with cropped sleeves. Rose gold prosecco bubbles sparkle out of the glass which sits next to an embroidered Prosecco Ho Ho design. Its such a fun jumper, and it fits really well with the Edie skirt. There is a special offer on Joanie Clothing where they have 40% off festive faves until Monday at 10am. This means that the jumper that was £35 is now only £21. What a steal.

A fluffy pair of heels were the only shoes that I could team with this cute and quirky outfit. I have been loving my Becky Lace Up heels from Ego recently. I’ve always struggled wearing strappy shoes but these are so comfortable. As the lace up straps can be tied as tight as you need, they stay in the right place on my feet and don’t rub when I walk. I was drawn to them simply because of the fluffy strap, and for the party season, they add that little something extra to an outfit.

To finish off my Christmassy outfit, I have fallen head over heels for this Gift Box Bag from Joanie Clothing. As soon as I saw it, I had to have it! It’s large enough to fit in the essentials for a night out, including my phone and the chain strap means that I can throw it over my shoulder for ease of carrying. Gold and sparkly, it’s a perfect party bag for December, and if you purchase it before Monday, there’s 40% off, making it £18 instead of £30.

I don’t think you can beat having cute and quirky pieces for the Christmas season and with these gorgeous bits, I’m looking forward to each occasion that I can wear them. Don’t forget to check out the 40% off offer at Joanie Clothing, as there are some real bargains to be had.

Christmas is such a magical time of year. Fairy lights, Christmas trees, the German Christmas Market. It all adds up to make December a wonderfully festive time of year. I have a bucket list of things I would like to experience in my lifetime and one of those was to head to New York at Christmas. The first time I watched Home Alone 2; Lost In New York, I became obsessed. I needed to see the Rockefeller tree in all it’s glory. All 94ft of it. On Thursday, I had a dream come true. 24 hours in New York, and what was the first thing that I did? Well, I headed down Fifth Avenue of course.

New York in December is cold. I’m not just talking a bit chilly, but it’s biting and icy. Although the weather app was showing 8 degrees on arrival, it felt more like 2 degrees with the icy blast that was being blown in our direction. Thankfully, I had packed jumpers and a faux fur coat as well as my brand new Ugg boots. I had a feeling that when I saw low temperatures of -1, it would be a heck of a lot colder. Funnily enough, it started snowing on the evening that we left. Heading down to Fifth Avenue with the wind burning my face, the excitement started to warm me as I headed towards Saks Fifth Avenue. Having never been to NYC during the festive period, I had no idea what to expect and to say I was blown away was an understatement. A full light show with accompanying music which was breathtaking. Even watching it back brought tears to my eyes.

Girl In The Mirror - Christmas in New York

The Rockefeller Christmas Tree is definitely a sight to be seen. As you would expect, it was so busy around the Rockefeller Centre, and I would have loved to get full outfit photos but it was practically impossible. The 94ft tree is covered in over 50,000 LED lights, whilst the Swarovski star on top is made up of 25,000 crystals and weighs around 250kg. It is said that over 125 million people will visit the tree each year, so you can imagine just how busy it was. The Clarebout wire angels with the 6ft long brass trumpets also make the Rockefeller a truly magical place.

Wrapping up warm, I wore my Bows Boutiques Cheska Faux Fur coat which protected me from the elements. Rather than being a full faux fur coat, it features faux leather sleeves and panelling with a matching belt as well as a chunky faux fur collar. Its very warm and comfortable, and I also love how the pockets are deep enough to fit my iPhone 6s Plus inside comfortablely. It’s the little things that count. Layering up was essential and my new oversized baby pink jumper from Primark is quite possibly my new favourite. Featuring a cut away neckline and choker style neck, it’s very flattering for a larger chest, whilst still looking stylish.

I’m getting more and more obsessed with wearing white lately, so white skinny jeans were my pairing of choice. White and baby pink are such a lovely colour combination, especially when worn with darker neutrals like my taupe coat and my stormy grey UGG boots*. UGG boots have had a bit of a revival as of late, with Alexa Chung leading the pack with the Alexa Edit; a contemporary style edit using Alexas favourite women to showcase the ease of UGG. Having already owned several pairs of UGGs in my time, I know that I prefer the Classic Short style. Choosing Stormy Grey as my colour for the season, they are an unusual shade and one that really helps lift my wardrobe in terms of colour combining. Aside from the unusual colour, they are just what you would expect from UGG. Hard wearing, waterproof and warm. Toasty warm in fact. Being in the chilly NYC weather, I was so grateful for them as once my feet are warm, then the rest of my body tends to follow suit.

Being in NYC for Christmas has literally been a dream come true and although I was only there for a short duration, I was able to tick off one of my must do’s. A highly emotive evening, and one that I would thoroughly recommend to anyone planning to head to New York over the December period.

Two fashion posts in three days? What is going on?! The fact that I have got dressed twice this week is also a great deal worth shouting about. On my last post, I mentioned Black Friday, and how the world will be going insane for a deal. Well, not only will I sharing fabulous deals from my lovely Ego Official, but I will have a second post later today that has my top picks for Black Friday deals that run over the weekend and into Cyber Monday. Back to my baes, the brand who keep me in fabulous shoes and those who have site wide offers all weekend, bringing some of my most loved pairs of shoes and boots down to ridiculous prices. I’ve updated my wishlist, you know, just in case.

My wardrobe is quite basic when it comes to colour. I prefer a neutral colour palette, ranging from black and grey to white and maybe even a pale pink or ivory. Although I do have vibrant and vivid pops of colour, I feel more comfortable in a neutral shade. Having a sort out through my wardrobe, I’ve been pulling the items that I haven’t worn for a while to the front to make sure I get use from them. Spotting a River Island imitation leather pencil skirt that I hadn’t worn in an age, I thought of a pair of shoes which would be just right for the touch of colour look that I was going for.

I adore this skirt. From the length, to the material and the fact that it has pockets, I believe it is one of the most flattering styles of skirts. It is slightly too big for me now, which doesn’t cause an issue as the waistband now sits lower, making the hemline a touch longer. An ivory, chiffon long sleeved shirt has become a complete wardrobe essential, and I have numerous shirts in various styles and cuts that could all be mistaken for the same item. I find H&M to be a really good place for these shirts, at reasonable prices.

So, the shoes. Oh how I love these shoes. A few months ago, I would have scoffed in the face of perspex but I find them to be a little bit, well quite a lotta sexy. The Ariana Perspex strappy sandal with nude velvet sole and clear heel make me feel like I am floating on air, as well as looking like I am. I feel a little bit Yeezy in these, so I can only imagine how Kimmy K feels when she dons the perspex. The 4 inch heel is substantial for a shoe without any platform, making walking and long wear times easy on the balls of the feet. Although the perspex is still quite tight around my toes and ankles, over the time that I have worn them, they have given slightly to give a more custom fit. Surprisingly, the perspex doesn’t cause any rubbing on my feet, so dancing all night isn’t a problem.

I speak about Ego Official so often but for fast fashion and superb styles, there is always something on the website that I can’t help but want. I’m really looking forward to seeing all the amazing deals that they will be having this weekend, as well as seeing what everyone has been buying. Let me know what has caught your eye.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Did you sing that, like I did when I wrote it? Before we hit December, and before the festive season explodes all over us, we are going to watch the craziness of Black Friday explode before our very eyes. For the last few years that Black Friday has been a thing in the UK, I have watched in sheer disbelief at the hoards of people queuing for hours to get their hands on special deals specifically for the day. Being a indoorsy gal, I prefer to do my sales shopping from the comfort of my own home via the internet, whilst wrapped up in a blanket, and preferably with tea and biscuits to hand. This year, I won’t be partaking in the Black Friday sales as much as I’d like to, but I have to share with you a preview of what you can expect from Bows Boutiques, my go-to for fast fashion.

I’ve been having a few little clothing issues this last few weeks. I’m relying heavily on layering as it’s either freezing in my house, or way too warm. Then there’s the outdoor issue of it being freezing and windy, or freezing and torrential rain, or freezing and trying to snow. I seem to be lacking in jumpers and sweatshirts to layer up with, so after getting my sequined star oversized sweater from Bows Boutiques, I turned to them again to add some more warmth to my wardrobe.

The Bows Boutiques Claudia Ruffle Sleeve Poncho jumper is perfect for layering. Made with a cashmere blend, it feels soft and cosy on and can be layered with a vest top underneath for when it gets colder. Wearing an oversized jumper means that any lumps and bumps are concealed and it sits at a nice length on my hips. The ruffle detailing on the sleeves look so lovely, and its what drew me to this style when I first saw it on the website. Although it looks like a poncho, it doesn’t have open sides so under garments aren’t on show. I really do like the selection of oversized jumpers at Bows Boutiques and I’m really tempted to add a few more as they are so wearable, whilst washing well and not getting bobbles on them. I also adore anything that has a cashmere blend. I can’t think of anything more comforting than curling up in sumptuous fabrics whilst it’s freezing cold outside.

I’ve dug out my imitation leather pants from H&M, and I forgot how much I loved these. Again, they are great with the cold weather that we are having and they are really comfortable. They’re so versatile in that they can be dressed up with a pair of heels and a more dressy top, or dressed down with a jumper and wedged trainers like these Erika Crystal wedges. True to size and with a bit of bling, they make quite a statement. Again, they are so comfortable, and although they were a little tight at first, the material gives after a few wears and they fit like a glove.

For Black Friday, Bows Boutiques are going to be having a site wide offer on their beautiful clothes. From casual day wear, to coats and shoes, there are going to be some huge bargains to be had with massive discounts. Sometimes, a girl needs to dress up for no reason at all. This very statement couldn’t have applied more to my situation last week. Feeling frumpy and down and with a lull in my mood, I just felt a bit blah. Having been wearing numerous pairs of pyjamas and tracksuit/t.shirt combos of late, I felt like I needed an excuse to dress up, put some make up on and bring my mood back to where it should be. I can always rely on Chi Chi London to unleash my inner princess, so it was natural that I chose a midi skirt, layered with tulle and silk petticoats to bring back the glamour. An outfit that I liken to a pastel princess, I had no occasion to wear it to, but my god, did I feel better after I had played dress up.

There is something magical about Chi Chi London, and over the course of me writing and styling outfits for my Girl In The Mirror series, I have used Chi Chi one more than one occasion. I have always said that I would love a wardrobe full of full skirts, with tulle underskirts. Pretty cocktail dresses and elegant evening dresses that flatter my figure. I must spend a fair amount of time on the Chi Chi website, and my wish list is growing weekly, with every new drop. The latest addition to my wardrobe is the Chi Chi Lillie skirt; a mint green pleated midi skirt. Midi, again. I’m obsessed. Falling just below the knee and flaring out from the waist, my lumps and bumps are hidden away under the layers and layers of underskirt that make it so full. Paired with a pale pink cap sleeved blouse, it shows just how versatile the skirt is, and how it can be work in a semi casual style, or dressed up for an occasion.

I’ve also been delving into the Chi Chi London footwear selection and I chose the Yara heels to wear when I was heading out for my birthday last month. Another shoe that can be dressed up or down, Yara looks great with dresses and equally as good when teamed with a pair of jeans. In a dusty pink shade that fits with many items of clothing from my wardrobe, the peep toe and slingback boot style shoe is on trend, whilst the laser cut out design gives it an extra something special. A block heel is also very welcome, and especially when worn on nights out, they are comfortable and don’t hurt my feet like when I wear stilettos.

Sat on bed after I had taken my photos, I felt very much like Carrie Bradshaw in Paris. A mille fuille if you would. Do you own a Chi Chi London dress? Do you feel like a princess?

There always seems to be some sort of fashion rules about what you can and can’t wear, and when you can and can’t wear it. The more I think about it, the more it makes me want to flaunt the rules and go against the grain, to suit me and my style. It’s always been said that white shouldn’t be worn after summer, but when your wardrobe consists primarily of pale neutral colours, it’s quite the task trying to find season appropriate clothing, especially with the varied weather we are used to. I’ve decided to prove a point to show that white can be worn in the autumn, and it’s got me quite excited at the prospect of being able to utilise the majority of my wardrobe.

I’m not sure if you may have noticed, but I have a thing for midi skirts at the moment. It’s a trend that may go out of fashion quickly for the masses but for me, it’s absolutely perfect. With my shape and height, as well as age, I find a midi skirt to not only be stylish and sophisticated, but flattering on my curves. The midi skirt sits on my waist, the narrowest part of my body, whilst skimming my hips and muffin top, and falls just after my knee to give the illusion of slim legs. This white midi skirt was from H&M in the summer, so it’s no longer available in all sizes, but Missguided have a very similar one. A classic black camisole works well with the white, and a statement necklace from Dan Frank brings the attention to that area, taking the focus away from other areas.

To toughen up the femininity of the midi skirt, and to take the weather into consideration, I’ve pulled my favourite autumnal piece from my wardrobe. This Laura Scott Leather Jacket has been my top buy of this year, and I’ve really had the money’s worth out of it so far. Having lost some weight over the last few months, it’s now quite loose on, meaning that I can layer up underneath when it moves into the winter months. Worn zipped up, or left open, the biker style collarless jacket is edgy and looks smart. In the past, I’ve struggled with biker jackets due to the length, but the Laura Scott sits just on my hips and doesn’t cut me off in the middle.

I have the most gorgeous pair of shoes that I feel like I need to add to every outfit. Velvet, glitter, chunky block heel. 4th and Reckless have delivered on the latest trends ready for the party season. Velvet is massively in fashion at the moment and although I haven’t managed to immerse myself back into the 90s and taken velvet to the extreme, I’m dipping my toes in and embracing smaller statement pieces. The slingback mule is also a nod to 90s fashion, and I forgot just how comfortable mules were, especially when your feet are encased in velvet. A block heel makes a welcome change from slender stiletto heels, and who could resist the black glitter that twinkles with a teal green when the light hit it. The Lottie Glitter Heels* are only £25 and worth every penny, for comfort and style. Since discovering 4th and Reckless, I have been a little bit shoe obsessed. Is it time to start thinking of winter shoes now?

Would you wear white in the autumn? Let me know your style in the comments.

I’m quite partial to a spot of fancy dress, but sometimes the effort, cost and time gets in the way. I totally take my hat off to those who have been doing amazing Halloween inspired make up looks (check out Hayley from Tea Party Beauty’s Instagram) but it’s just not me. Call me boring but I much prefer to still look like myself when I’m heading out to a party. The last time I got dressed up for Halloween was two years ago. Rocking an orange and black tutu, I was the Pumpkin witch and we celebrated Halloween whilst in Las Vegas with some of my closest friends. This year, I m may possibly be going to party so I need something that I can grab from my wardrobe at short notice, but I can still tweak to make it look occasion appropriate.

Luckily, I have in my possession the most amazing red wig which can transform any outfit in a second. From the minute I put it on, I was swishing my new red locks around like I was Cheryl Cole in a L’Oreal commercial. I am so worth it. The Hot Hair Vixen wig in Deep Cherry is a synthetic haired wig with a lace cap for a secure fit. I often struggle with wigs as the top of my head is quite small, however this fits pretty well, and doesn’t slip when being worn. If you needed to, you can secure the cap to your head using pins. A detailed guide was included for care of the wig, and it can also be washed if needed. With synthetic hair, as there is usually quite a shine on the hair shaft, I like to spray the hair with dry shampoo to take the sheen off and make it look more natural, but with the intensity of the red and for the purpose, I have saved this step until another time.

A classic LBD should be present in every girls wardrobe, and although my colour palette of choice is white, I do have a few classics that I can rely on for short notice nights out. Quiz Clothing have been around for such a long time but to be honest, I’ve not really paid much attention to them, as I’ve been struggling with sizing. After a drop in weight and a couple of dress sizes, I’ve been able to slide into a smaller dress with ease. I adore this cute crepe laser cut out dress which was only £22.99. I’m really tempted to get the berry coloured dress to wear in the winter with thick tights and chunky boots.

With a dress that runs quite short on my 5ft10 frame, I have found the most perfect pair of boots which make the short dress issue non existent. I have a bit of love for long boots and once again, Ego Official have pulled it out of the bag. A pair of sexy, long, thigh high suede and leather boots with a slim heel and rounded toe, the Beatrice Boot is everything that I wanted. At the moment, I’m finding that Ego Official are nailing each and every trend with their new releases. It’s not often that I go on the website and can’t find a pair of shoes or boots to fit a certain occasion. With long boots, I sometimes have an issue with a high instep but with a zip on the back of the boot, it makes light work of manipulating your foot into the shoe. I also love how there is a seam inside the boot that sits tight against your leg to make the boot stay in it’s rightful position. Helpful if you have slender legs.

It’s actually pretty easy to make up a quick and easy Halloween inspired outfit when you have some wardrobe staples to hand. And, if all else fails, I have a makeup bag of dreams to help transform me into a creepy broken doll, a vicious cat, or a bruised, decaying zombie. What are you planning on going as this Halloween? I’d love to know.

I do not know whether I am coming or going at the moment. One day I’m in 90 degreee heat in Las Vegas, then the next I am wearing numerous layers because the temperatures in the UK have dropped so much that I feel that I’m in the Artic. To be fair, I do love the mixture of being able to wear all my summer clothes all year round, but I cannot express my love for the UK cold weather. Wrapping up warm, layers and lounge wear make me happy and I’ve been relishing in the cooler weather as I’ve been able to dig out some old favourites as well as expand my wardrobe ready for the winter. Bows Boutiques is a new fashion website that I’ve found that specialises in the latest trends from clothing to footwear and accessories, and I couldn’t resist having a splurge and adding to my wardrobe.

Whilst the weather is still quite mild at the moment, oversized sweaters have to be one of my go to items. Comfortable to wear for lounging around the house, yet they can be dressed up for heading out. The Scarlett Sequin Heart Oversized Jumper is perfect for such occasions. The batwing style is flattering and I really do like how it sits. With some oversized jumpers, and being large of chest, I do run the risk of it looking like I am wearing a sack, however when teamed with black disco pants, it looks flattering without looking boxy. With a slim pant and oversized jumper, it draws attention away from the chest area and emphasises my legs and makes my figure look smaller. Dressing up a casual jumper is easy when adding a simple pair of black ankle boots like the Leah Suede Effect Ankle Boot. With a heel that isn’t too daunting for day to day wear, they are really comfortable. They also sit nicely around the ankle, at the most flattering length, which is ideal if your ankles are slightly wide. Wearing the boots on the first outing, I was most impressed at how comfortable they were, without rubbing on my heels. They broke in really quickly and they held my ankles in the right place, so there was no discomfort when walking around for hours.

My mum is probably rolling her eyes at me whilst reading this post, as she will be thinking ‘another winter coat, Anoushka?’ I don’t want to say I have a problem, but I have got three new coats for the winter months so far. I treated myself to a soft leather biker jacket, a waxed jacket for the colder weather and now my new favourite, the Elizabeth Chunk Faux Fur Padded Coat. Black? Check. Warm? Check. Faux fur? Check, check, check. It’s perfect. I have never had a padded coat before as I always found that they altered my shape and made me look bigger than I am, but I have fallen in love with the Elizabeth. The faux fur collar is made of the softest faux fur, which can also be removed to use the hidden hood. Warm is an understatement when wearing the coat. In fact, it’s not actually cold enough to wear it right now, as the padding makes you feel so cosy, it’s almost too much to bear. I actually can’t wait until it’s freezing out so I can wear this all the time. The Elizabeth coat is only £59.99, which for the quality, I’m very impressed. It looks a lot more expensive than it actually is, and the sleek gold zips and belt detailing give it a more luxurious feel.

I’m crushing on the Bows Boutiques website right now, and I’ve spotted some gorgeous lounge wear that I can totally see myself in over the next few months. Keep up to date with the newest stock, with new styles added daily on the Bows Boutiques Instagram account.

There are two things that get my attention enough to leave the warmth of my house and head out in to torrential rain. One of those is the thought of afternoon tea whilst the other is a chance to peruse new season handbags, shoes and coats. I’m pretty certain that my Mum will be chuckling to herself whilst thinking ‘She does not need any more coats’, but they’re my weakness when it comes to fashion. As are handbags. And shoes. Heading to Propertea in Manchester, one of my all time favourite tea shops, I was really looking forward to a good old blogger event to celebrate 10 years of fashion with Country Attire.

I’ve grown up in the countryside outside of Bury, where country style fashion was at its peak. Barbour and Hunter were brands that were worn, not for fashion, but for the practicalities of farming life. Living in a small rural village, where my secondary school offered Agriculture and Horticulture as a GCSE subject whilst sheep roamed the playground, country living was at its peak. The brands that were used for their hard wearing properties have gone full circle, and now owning a Barbour coat and Hunter wellies is more of a fashion statement than one to protect from the elements. Although I am a city living person now, I still have a deep rooted love for all things country so I jumped at the chance to see the new season collections from brands that I love.

With most fashion purchases, I tend to stick to classic styles that don’t date and prefer to wear outwear and accessories with smooth, clean lines that flatter and enhance my style. One of the first items that jumped out to me was the Ted Baker Aurore Long Wrap Coat in Camel. So true to my style, that two of my blogger gals mentioned that they’d seen a coat that I would love, hanging on the rail.

In a handbag dream world, I have found at least three bags that I’m sure will be making their way to my house over the next few months as I update my autumn/winter wardrobe. From Ted Baker, the Gerri Geometric Bow bag, a sleek matte black Cambridge Satchel 11″ Satchel and the most beautiful pop of colour for my neutral based wardrobe, the Vivienne Westwood Bluette Envelope Pouch Bag.

It made a refreshing change to attend an event where we could sit down and converse with fellow bloggers, over tea and cake. No rushing, relaxed and really informal, it was a perfect afternoon meet. Being dairy free, I couldn’t partake in scones and cream, but Propertea went out of their way to make me a dairy free snack. I actually think that mine was the best on the table. Caramelised Onion, hummus and falafel sandwiches, with roasted red peppers, a rainbow salad with butternut squash, pine nuts and balsamic glaze and a fruit plate with a sticky nut flapjack, all washed down with copius amounts of tea. I’ve not stopped thinking about those falafel sandwiches since the event, so as soon as I have some time off, I’m taking my Mum!

The chance to catch up with my friends has been really difficult as of late so it was just what I needed to spend time with Sally, and Jessica, who I haven’t seen in over a year. I also had chance to finally meet Lizzi and Kiran who I’ve spent a lot of time talking to online but never had the chance to see in person. Being the social media obsessive that I am, I actually won the competition for best social media for Twitter as part of the event and I’ve had the most beautiful Country Attire waxed jacket delivered to me. I’m going to put it all together for an outfit post, but it looks like I’m going to need a pair of Hunters to match my new jacket as well as the gorgeous pair of welly socks that I was kindly gifted.

I’m craving the country thanks to Country Attire!

Since taking the rather large step to introduce more fashion onto Anoushka Loves, I have become a woman obsessed. I’ve always taken a keen interest in fashion and prefer to pick up key pieces to introduce into my rather neutral based wardrobe, with classic shapes and basics that will last for seasons. As fashion changes so quickly, it’s sometimes hard to keep up with trends, so being selective with fashion does have it’s advantages. I’m more of a seasonal shopper, and tend to choose things ready for the weather changes, although I have to take into consideration that I may need floaty beach kaftans in December for work, and a thick winter coat for when I land home. Lately, I’ve started to update my shoe wardrobe, and selecting pieces that will take me from this late Indian Summer that we are expecting, into Autumn and the early stages of winter. Keeping fast fashion in mind, the Anushka knitted boot from Ego Official was chosen not just for the name, but for their ease of transitioning throughout the seasons.

With the weather being a rather tropical 20 degrees recently and expected to hit the mid twenties (we are so lucky), it’s been quite nice to wear outfits without having to think about the need for an umbrella. A classic black jersey midi dress was my choice of the day. Not too tight fitting, with room to move around, and although plain and simple in style, it can be dressed up or down. Teaming the dress with my favourite denim jacket, which I’ve had for an age, I feel smart yet not over dressed and prepared for the British weather.

Keeping my jewellery simple, I’ve worn a DanFrank Jewellery original beaded necklace with tassel detail and a ChloBo Hamsa Hand Rose Gold Bracelet. The Hamsa Hand is a protective sign and symbolises happiness, luck, health and happiness. I’ll be wearing this every day as it’s just what I need right now. As this is my first ChloBo bracelet, I am really looking forward to adding to my collection and wearing these as stackable bracelets, with each charm representing something important in my life.

Onto the boots. Oh, I adore these boots so much. Knitted, beige and with a high heel, they aren’t for someone who shies away from wearing heels. The Ego Official Anushka Knitted Boot is gorgeous and versatile. The heel is around 5 inches, and with no platform on the shoe, I was expecting some discomfort when walking, yet there was none. As the material of the boot sits snugly around the foot, it holds the foot in place with no sliding around inside the shoe. They’re actually one of the most comfortable pairs of shoes, aside from my slippers, that I’ve owned. The mid calf length did give me cause for concern with my muscular calves causing issues when it comes to boots, but I had no need to worry. With the colour and the shape of the boot, I found them to be really flattering on my leg, as well as making my legs look even longer. Although I’ve worn them with a midi dress to show them off today, they also look great with leggings and an oversized t.shirt, as well as an ultra glam LBD.

I’m really looking forward to bringing my wardrobe into the Autumn season. What key pieces will you be looking for to update your wardrobe?

With Summer in full swing, the festivals are reaching their pinnacle and my social media news feeds are jam packed full of girls wearing their take on festival fashion. A festival has never been high on the list of my things to do, and I simply cannot bear to get dirty, hence why I’ve never headed off to Glastonbury for a roll around in the mud. What I do love is the fashion. Although I am a bit too old for a floral garland, I am totally down with fringing, denim cut off shorts, boho prints and chunky ankle boots. Straying from my norm and heading out of my comfort zone, I decided to embrace the care free vibe of curvy girl festival clothing and I’ve put together some items that I wouldn’t necessarily wear, yet that I found to be one of my favourite outfits to date.

When putting together my outfit for today’s post, I wanted to mix two of the biggest trends in festival fashion, boho prints and fringing, but to keep them in my style. I chose items that made me step out of my classic neutral colour palette, although I still say that animal print is a neutral, and picked statement pieces to pull the outfit together. What I love about online shopping is seeing just how various websites style items and then putting my own spin on things.

The Simply Be Snake Skin Maxi Shirt Dress spoke my name as soon as I saw it. Sheer in fabric, I felt that this could be worn with so much. Worn open with a body con midi dress, or dressed up with white jeans and a cami, to a more beachy look of shorts and vest tops, I think it’s a really versatile piece, that although statement in design it can actually be over accessorised. I love how it sits on my body shape. It’s long enough for my 6ft frame, the sleeves sit in the right place on my arm and the seam under the bust isn’t too obvious so it doesn’t cut you off around the middle.

Pushing the boat out, I decided to team the dress with a short white slip and cinch in the middle with a belt that matched my shoes and bag. The cinching of the waist enhances the bust, which again, is totally out of my comfort zone, yet it looks sexy without showing off any skin. I’ve been dying to wear this huge Glamorous Over The Top statement necklace from Happiness Boutique, and I think it looks absolutely perfect. Considering it’s so big and intricate, it’s a pleasant surprise to wear as it doesn’t actually weight that much, nor does it catch on clothing or cause any pulls and bobbles.

I can’t say that I’ve ever owned anything with fringing, so to wear two items within one outfit is very unusual for me. Embracing the festival vibe, I added these Soul Diva Sued Fringe Boots into the mix. Another sale find, they were reduced from £69 to just £28. As the are wide fit, they sit comfortably on my foot without pinching and they also flatter my less than slender ankles.

No outfit is complete without a handbag to store your festival essentials so the Premium Suede Fringe Cross Body Bag ties in with the boots and compliments the dress really well. The cross body strap is slightly too short for my liking so I have been wearing it slung over my shoulder instead, but I love how the fringing falls on the bag. Again, another sale find, it was £50 reduced to just £24.

I’ve had such a good old shop lately searching for key pieces for summer that can go into autumn and winter, and I think with all components of this outfit, they will easily transition into the cooler and colder months. Pushing myself into festival chic fashion has had it’s advantages – I’ve discovered a new love for fringing and maxi shirts.
