Simply Beach in Bali

One of the biggest challenges that I have is getting the correct sized swimwear and I swear it is getting harder and harder, and a lot more expensive. Last year I discovered Simply Beach, a website that contains many of my favourite lingerie and swimwear brands such as Pour Moi, Panache and Freya. With my trip to Bali being the biggest holiday I’ve been on in quite sometime, I wanted everything to be perfect as well as wanting to feel confidence in swimwear. I’m quite open with the fact that I have piled on the pounds lately, which is making me look like a ball with big boobs and I’m not happy about it so the need to feel good was at the highest priority. Heading over to Simply Beach was a natural choice after last summers hit and I’ve found some gorgeous swimwear as well as cover ups.

I do wish that I was braver whilst away and had some bikini pictures taken but it was just too intimate for me. What I will say though, is that I felt great. Each set that I wore supported me, fit correctly and didn’t dig into my muffin top. I chose standard bikini tops, no halter necks and no fancy designs that would give random white bits.

My favourite of the three has to be the tropical print Panache Elle set. Apart from the fact that the design was so typically Anoushka, the cut and the fit was the best. I’ve worn Panache bras for years and I am able to choose the size that I wear with ease. I find that Panache Elle Bikini top runs at the correct size, and that the wider straps and band give me ultimate support. The Panache Elle Bikini bottoms are a standard cut and hug my curves without digging in. They also run true to size. The cute Panache Sun Dress was also a good choice. The cut work pattern gave a glimpse to what was underneath without exposing, and I wore it alongside a pair of shorts for travelling over from Gili T back to Bali. I did find that it ran quite short in length, however I am 5ft 10 and have the bust to contend with. With anything that is white, you always run the risk of it being discoloured with suncream but after a quick wash, they’ve come up like new.

The Freya Electro Beach tropical print set was the second set that I wore quite frequently. With Freya, I do find that the bottoms run smaller than true size but the bikini tops are the right size. Again, the fit was great and the way the cups sat were similar to the Pananche set so I didn’t have to worry about my white marks. I never tuck my straps down when sunbathing as I can never wear anything without straps so I don’t tend to bother so much, but I do like some uniformity when it comes to managing the white bits! I really liked the shape of the Freya Electro Bikini top and whilst the Freya Electro Tanga brief bottoms did run to size, the thin strap sides do sit in any excess flesh. As a whole, the shape is really flattering.

The final set was from Pour Moi and I love the design on this one. The Pour Moi Costa Rica briefs have a great fold over to disguise lumps and bumps, but I did find that they ran a tad smaller in size. I find Pour Moi quite notorious for giving me a four boob effect even when wearing the correct size but I am pleased that the Pour Moi Costa Rica bikini top didn’t. I also found that it ran more to the true size than they have done in the past which leads to the 4 boob issues.

I did wear my Pia Rossini kaftan with this bikini for a touch of glam. It does look like a proper kaftan from the website, however in real life it is a piece of fabric with a hole for your head cut in. Whilst gorgeous on with its sequinned glitter pattern, I was very conscious of my stomach being on show when walking. I think a belt or a few stitches to hold the sides today would be perfect in this instance, however it doesn’t take away just how fabulous I felt in it. Like, full on glamour in an instant.

Whilst I’ve not been brave enough to do full on bikini shots, I did grab some outfit of the day Style shots with some close ups of the designs so you can see just how pretty they all are. I would definitely recommend Simply Beach if you are a busty girl like me. They have a great selection with some brands up to a K cup. As I’m starting the gym and going swimming, I’ll be back on the website to get myself kitted out for my quest to become swimmer of the year!

Recently Discovered! Fairtrade Lingerie Brands

In this generation of fast fashion and instant gratification of having the world at our fingertips, it really does stop and make me think about the planet and how conscious I’m being of my surroundings. Although I may not think that I am doing much to help, I’m taking small steps to be more ethical when it comes to consumerism. Sustainable living is so important. Not only do we want our children, and children’s children to have the resources that we do, but we want to surround ourselves with products that make us feel good. Whether it’s an organic, natural beauty product, or a dress made from 100% certified cotton, our well being thrives off the choices we make, we eat and we wear. One of the more conscious decisions I have made is to start wearing more ethical clothing brands and to try and swap my fast fashion for a slower, longer lasting items.

Atlist

Atlist

Finding Fairtrade and ethical brands is no longer a difficult task thanks to Atlist the online shopping friend that helps you save your ethically sourced products all in one place. Think Pinterest but with a view to shop, to curate a wishlist that you can mark off when purchased. It’s becoming quite the daily visit for me, especially now that the small world of ethical clothing is suddenly increasing and I’m being opened up to more brands than I ever expected.

As a curator of Atlist, I have been spending time searching the web, so you don’t have to, to find some beautiful lingerie brands that fulfill the Fairtrade criteria. I’ve found several UK brands, included one based in Manchester that has the most beautiful underwear and sleepwear reminiscent of the 1920s. Kinky Knickers have been added to my Atlist, as well as a pair of silk pyjamas from London based brand Nui Ami.

Kinky Knickers is a brilliant brand, with amazing brand values. Of course, being a Manchester brand, they fully have my support with my shop local ethic. Based in the Middleton area, the girls design, source and manufacture each piece in their factory and give great customer service by being contactable by phone should you need them. Each piece is made by hand, with great attention to detail. As no woman is made the same, they meticulously trial and test each piece before sending it to production. They also use fabrics that wouldn’t usually be used in factories, which makes the brand all the more appealing to consumers. The attention to detail to create the perfect fit certainly makes this a brand worth watching. They also have the brand Ella and Me under their umbrella, who are the design geniuses behind the nightwear ranges. I mean, just looking the exquisite silk pjs, I am sold.

atlist

The approach brought by Nui Ami is that of versatility and comfort. They specialise in camisoles and sleep bralettes, which are my absolute favourite for bedtime comfort. I like to look great in nightwear, should anyone decide to turn up unannounced whilst I’m lounging in beautiful pieces that I can just hop into bed in. As all of the fabrics are natural, they suit people like myself who are both hot and cold sleepers. Nui Ami states how provenance is very important to the brand and that each piece of sleepwear is made from the finest French Leavers lace, Austrian jerseys and Italian silks that are designed and manufactured in the UK. Although pricey, I do feel that these items are investments piece and I really love the Kyoto kimono pyjamas.

Even browsing my old faithful shopping website ASOS, it has brought to light that they have a section for Eco clothing, with clothes made from sustainable fabrics. ASOS have been certified carbon neutral and utilise emission reduction measures from the warehouse to delivery. Working to reduce the amount of waste from packaging is a lot more obvious with each order these days. Whilst the majority of ASOS own branded clothing does not use many eco friendly materials, the Eco Edit is a step in the right direction to making a difference in the world of fashion.

Living a sustainable life does not have to be difficult, and I’m actually shocked at how easy it is to find Fairtrade products by using Atlist. At the moment, Atlist is invite only however you can sign up to use the platform by following my invitation link. Don’t forget to follow my Atlists and create your own ethical lists of products that you think people will love.

Office Outfit Inspiration for Next Season

I can’t believe that I have been working in an office based environment for eight months now. The girl who once stated that the 9-5 wasn’t for her, and that not having a uniform was a bad idea, has well and truly been converted. Any excuse to continue expanding my wardrobe, I have been fully immersing myself into the world of office outfits. My place of work is very chilled out, and I don’t think anyone would bat an eyelid if I turned up in pyjamas and a pair of Crocs to be honest. Although it is a relaxed dress code, I much prefer to have a more formal personal dress code with my dress down days on a Friday. It helps control my wardrobe, gives me more scope to play around with combinations and means that I still know what to wear at weekends, as I don’t wear the same things for work. With Spring/Summer just around the corner, I have been adding some new pieces to my work wardrobe which I can’t wait to wear.

Office Outfit Inspiration for Next Season

Office Outfit Inspiration for Next Season

This season is all about statements. Whether that be in your accessories, your shoes or your clothing, I’m looking for pieces that have that little something extra. Two key pieces that I have chosen for spring/summer are the culotte, and the ankle tie trousers. I am so into the culotte trend for two reasons – a wide leg is so flattering, whilst the cropped hemline highlights the slimmest part of my leg. With the tie ankle trend, the trousers are a slim fit, cigarette style leg whilst the bow sits just on the ankle.

Winter office wear has been all about boots and tights, whilst Spring/Summer is going to be season of ballet flats. It’s been just over a year since I’ve worn heels now, and whilst old me would be cursing, new me has embraced the flat and I have gone all out. I have got some of the most gorgeous shoes ready for the season including the Valentino dupes and my Unicorn shoes which I am dying to wear.

Accessories are the one item that really makes an outfit, whatever the occasion. For spring and summer, I want to reduce the load that I am carrying and go back to small bags, where I can fit the essentials and not the kitchen sink. In my usual nude colour palette, I have a blush and dove grey satchel style bag, my gorge Ted Baker camera bag and my personalised Cambridge satchel. This of course is subject to change, because I cannot simply stick to just three bags over a season, so there may be many more!

Office Outfit Inspiration for Next Season

A classic watch is not only essential office wear, but essential wear for me. I’m currently wearing a petite rose gold watch but if we are talking statement pieces, can you imagine being able to add a £24000 Rolex into the look? I’m becoming a bit of a watch connoisseur and I have mentioned this several times before, but I would love nothing more than a classic luxury watch that can grow old with me and can be passed down to my family. Of course having a £24000 watch is massively out of the question, however Chrono Expert have some beautiful pre owned watches. I’ve spotted a Chopard watch that is just my style which comes in at just under £3000. Although I don’t have £3000 spare in my bank right this moment, it suddenly doesn’t seem like having a luxury watch is an unattainable dream. As many are pre owned, it makes them a lot cheaper than buying brand new which helps when keeping to a budget.

I think that I’m pretty set for the upcoming season with my fashion and accessories, and although I won’t stop spending, I am quite happy with the pieces that I have chosen. All I need to do now is to get a new pair of Converse for dress down day and I will be happy.

How do you define work wear, and what key pieces will you be looking for?

Girl In The Mirror: Bring In The Spring

It’s March. It’s just one week until April. It’s currently dry with blue skies and it’s looking very promising right now. I actually cannot wait to get out of this country and into some warmer weather. I’ve been really prepared in terms of wardrobe for the warmer weather. I have been buying all the cute dresses, and pretty ballet flats yet I’ve still not had chance to bring them out of hibernation. Hopefully, April will be kind to us and winter wardrobe can finally be packed away. To add to my ever growing wardrobe, I have hit the Fashion World website, the home of a wide selection of clothes that suit my figure and size to pick some new items.

Girl In The Mirror Bring In The Spring

Girl In The Mirror Bring In The Spring

One of the brands stocked at Fashion World is Simply Be, and I have got a lot of love for them. With being tall and top heavy, I find that their clothes really fit well, as well as being of a great quality. The Capsule collection in particular has given me some great finds over the years. You might remember my sheer snake print shirt dress which I have literally worn to death. When it comes to spring fashion, I’m still very much a covered up person. My feet will be encased in boots, and the heavy coats are now lightweight jackets. I think this is why I have so many day dresses that can be worn throughout the year.

An introduction to the spring weather comes in the form this gorgeous floral shirred dress. Hitting two of the AW18 fashion trends with the floral and fuchsia pink accents, the dress will also be perfect for later on in the year teamed with opaque tights. I absolutely love the fit of swing dresses on me. I am still very much in the ‘lets cover up the areas I don’t like’ and I think that’s why you never see me baring cleavage. A swing dress will sit nicely from my chest, and although it doesn’t accentuate my figure, I love how it falls and sits high on my leg. I have been wearing most outfits with boots at the moment as I am so not ready for getting my feet out just yet. These tan zipped booties are a perfect addition, and with the cut of the boot, they will look great with numerous outfits. Plus, they are so comfortable from first wear that I haven’t wanted to take them off.

A classic shirt dress is a staple in my wardrobe. From denim, to lightweight cotton, to an oversized boyfriend shirt, I absolutely adore this style. Not only can they be worn in a casual style, but can be dressed for a evening, or teamed with over the knee boots and a fur gilet for winter style. To me, they are one of the easiest outfits to style whatever time of year or occasion.

When I spotted this shirt dress on Fashion World, I couldn’t resist. It’s so me and so perfect for this time of year. Long sleeved, tie waisted and sporting one of the upcoming floral trends, it’s another versatile piece for my wardrobe. To change the look, I would swap the tie waist belt for a different belt, and roll the sleeves up for a much more casual look. I would also wear this open with a pair of jeans and a vest top for a different option.

Coming into spring, now that the weather is picking up, it’s all about bare legs and boots but with the potential to start getting my feet out for the summer. I’ve started making sure that my legs and feet are being looked after, ready for when the day comes for me to slip my feet into these rose gold low heeled sandals. I really do wish that I could wear a higher heel, but for now, these are perfect.

One of the fashion items that I have told myself that I need to wear more of is costume jewellery. I’m very minimal with my jewellery and I think due to this, I really don’t usually bother. I wear my Chlo Bo bracelet daily and my Anoushka necklace, with my 10 earrings and that’s usually the extent of it. I’ve treated myself to a new rose gold necklace with drop and circle design (similar here) and I think it’s just the right amount of extra. I’m ready to start expanding my jewellery collection to feature some more on trend pieces.

I’m sending out all of the positive vibes for the weather to pick up so all of my spring wardrobe can be utilised to it’s full potential. In the meantime, you’ll find me browsing Fashion World for more dresses. And shoes. And jewellery.

Girl In The Mirror: The Last Bite of Winter

I have decided that there is something seriously weird about how I view the world and in particular the seasons. As soon as it hits October, I’m all set for Autumn and ready to get into my faux fur coats, and once New Year has passed, I’m ready for spring and light weight clothes. In reality, December is quite warm compared to the end of January, and I am wondering why my feet are so cold when it’s minus 1 at 7am on a cold, frosty February morning. I need to really think about this when the colder weather comes in towards the end of this year. Thankfully, we are nearing the end of this cold snap and it really is the last bite of winter. This also means it’s the last chance to wear my big chunky winter wear, which does make me feel quite sad. Resurrecting my Girl in The Mirror, I’m bringing my ultimate in winter warming couture.

Girl In The Mirror The Last Bite of Winter

This winter I have found myself living in jeans, which is quite unusual for me. I’ve found that the super skinny high waisted jeans from Primark, which are just £9 have been an absolute godsend in both the comfort and the style stakes. More like a jegging with a button and zip fastening and rear pockets, they fit like an dream. They come in different leg lengths which is perfect for a tall gal like myself, and I love the 34″ as my regular fit, with a 32″ leg for an ankle grazing finish.

My staple basics in my wardrobe this winter have included many slogan t.shirts. It does surprise me, as I seem to have done a full one eighty with my style and swapped my usual shirts for t.shirts. I am loving this Girlfriend Material slogan tee from Lasula. You can’t beat comfort, and this cotton tee is lovely to wear, and looks great with jeans. The sleeves were a little too long for my liking so I have turned them up slightly for an edgier look.

I had it in my head that I needed a yellow quilted jacket for winter and I cannot express how happy I am with my decision and for stepping out of my comfort zone with an item of clothing that has some vibrancy to it. It makes a huge change to my neutral colour palette and I am obsessed with my mustard fitted quilted coat from Lasula. It is so warm and toasty that I don’t want to wear it zipped up as it gets a tad too warm. It would be perfect for winter holidays where the temperatures are really low. I’ve been combining my coat with a chunky scarf and light layers underneath. My scarf was part of my winners goody bag from the We Blog North blog awards, and I’ve worn it constantly since I received it. It’s just so fluffy and cosy. Best clothing decision ever.

My love of Timberland boots has grown even stronger and I have added another pair to my collection. My last pair were a pair of the tall lace up’s in black, but I wanted something slightly different for my next pair. I already own a pair of the Nellie Timberlands in Natural, so I have chosen the Nellie Timberlands in grey. Ankle length, but with a smaller side profile, I find them to be very wearable with several outfits. I love teaming my Timberlands with tights and dresses and I must say that they are spot on with my aesthetic. Jake Shoes has so many options available in the Timberland range that I was a bit spoilt for choice when looking, and I have seen a pair that a more trainer like which has gone straight on my wish list.

To finish of an outfit, a girl needs somewhere to store her lipgloss, mobile phone and cash cards. My bag of choice for this winter has been my Cambridge Satchel. I have wanted a Cambridge satchel for so long and after I got a Cambridge Satchel Mini Poppy last summer, I have been lusting over the larger satchel sized bags. I finally took the plunge with an 11inch The Cloud bag with handle, in Oxblood leather with gold hardware and my initials embossed just above the clasp. I am so in love with my bag. I don’t think I can express just how much. Not only is it beautiful, but it fits so much inside and looks so sleek, smart and stylish. I think every girl needs a classic oxblood bag in their lives.

I am sad that winter will soon be over however with winter leaving us, it does mean that spring and summer are on their way, and you know what that means…..More new clothes!!

Effortlessly Stylish

Style guide: how to look amazing with minimal time and effort

Most of us love having plenty of time to get ready, but sometimes, this isn’t always possible. When we have to get to work or are running late for date, what you need is an outfit that you can put together in no time.
The effortlessly stylish trend revolves around looking incredible without all the time and effort that usually goes into it. Interested? Check out our effortlessly stylish guide for tips.

A Faux Fur Fashion Tale

No-effort knitwear

At this time of year, knitwear is a godsend. Not only because it looks good and keeps us warm, but also because this fashion genre is a key part of being effortlessly stylish. To work it into your everyday wardrobe, mix and match cable-knit jumpers and striped sweatshirts — very in vogue — with trousers and skirts. A simple way to look amazing quickly.
Be effortlessly stylish with layers
Dressing for a mix of events and environments is one of the trickiest parts of fashion. You have to choose something appropriate for the office, while still selecting the perfect after-work drinks get-up. Get rid of this problem and make dressing easier, comfier and more stylish with layering. Throw on a polo-neck jumper underneath a square-necked top or go for a turtle-neck sweater under a smart blazer for work. Couple with your favourite pair of jeans and an ankle boot to fully master the look.

No-fuss footwear

Have you ever spent far too long choosing the right shoe for your outfit style and colour? There’s no time for this if you want to be effortlessly stylish. Instead, go for the trusty boot to keep you looking on point.
Boots are quick and simple fashion accessories, and the sock boot — featuring a pointed toe, high heel and textured fabric that fits to the ankle — makes a great shoe to quickly pull on with jeans during the day and a stylish skirt on a night. When it comes to colours, black is a great choice as it can be worn with pretty much any outfit. Choose a pair with a chunky heel so that they’re suitable for all occasions.

Customisation tips for an effortless look

When you need to get out the house fast, you have precious little time to find the best rings, necklaces, bags, and bangles from your collection. To help, simply choose a cute black bag to use every day, or buy one with a pattern to keep things interesting. Pair with jeans, skirts, tapered trousers, shorts, or dresses as the mood takes you!
Once you have your bag sorted, search for big and bold statement jewellery that you can pair with any outfit on any occasion. Tassels, chunky metal and huge hoops are all ideal this season and can be matched with most outfits. Choose a black or gold pair to make sure that they complement your ensemble and keep them in your bag to slip in for after-work drinks.

Girl In The Mirror - The Faux Fur Padded Coat Bows Boutique

Jumper dresses: the ideal zero-effort fashion staple

Knitwear items are always handy to have on you when you want to create a fashionable outfit in a hurry. However, this season is all about the jumper dress. It’s comfy, chic, and needs practically no time to match with other items of clothing. Plus, long sleeves mean you don’t need to scour your closet for a complementing coat either! Boost your confidence and style by wearing your jumper dress with a chunky belt that pulls your waist in for a gorgeous silhouette. Or, wear it with neutral pumps or ankle boots and a pair of black tights.

Christmas 2017: Rock On Ruby for the Win

It’s officially my last week in work before Christmas and I have so much that I want to get done before the big day. One of my biggest conundrums is how, as a lactose intolerant person, am I going to be able to eat a cheeseboard without feeling the pain. I will get around this, and I will be cheese satisfied. In the meantime, I want to finish my shopping list, finishing my food shopping, and try my best to buy some Christmas cards to deliver to the neighbours. The last one may not happen. Whilst I’ve been sat at home this weekend, I had a thought. As I’ve not done a particularly fashion based post in quite sometime, as I’m not feeling particularly fashionable at the moment, I thought why not just show off what I am living in these day. Sometimes normally is key rather than being so over the top dressed up to the nines. My life recently involved a big cosy sweater and my Proskins leggings and I’m not even sorry that this is all I live in. I’m living my best days right now.

Rock On Ruby for the Win Proskins Ego Scarlett Boots

Rock On Ruby for the Win Proskins Ego Scarlett Boots

Another Rock On Ruby to add to the ever growing collection, I would much rather have a slogan top or jumper from an independent business who I know are working their little personalised socks off on the run up to Christmas. You may remember my Proud AF t.shirt from Gay Pride weekend, and my Summer make up bag with glittery text. This Christmas, I will be combining my love of Unicorns with my love of the festive period and I am delighted to be wearing a very rare Rudolph-icorn on my sweater.

I do love how every item from Rock on Ruby can be personalised to your specification, whether it be from the colour or the design. Should you want your name on it – it’s possible. Your year of birth? There’s a whole range for that? Want to be a Wizard? You can. The possibilities are endless. Jumpers, t.shirts, pyjamas, dressing gowns. Whatever you feel you need, you can have. I think that I need some cheeky little slogan t.shirts to add my wardrobe, as they come in so handy with my relaxed dress code at work.

I am going to have a mini rave and love in session now. Be prepared. Gym leggings are my new love and I don’t even go to the gym. I have not taken these bad boys off and I swear they’ve made my legs look a bit slimmer. The Proskins Slim Black Leggings are quite simply amazing. They’re leggings – how can leggings be so amazing? Several reasons for me. They make my legs look slim, they fit properly, they don’t get baggy knees. They look great on their own, with a skirt, with an oversized top, with a sweater. They add extra layers in this cold weather without making you sweat. They give me a thigh gap as they compress my legs where they should. They wash well, they don’t pull or snag, and they still look brand new. There’s a 28 days challenge, which I haven’t took part in, but I should have done as I have worn them so much. I can definitely see a difference on my legs and the cellulite on my inner thighs. They are the bomb.

Rock On Ruby for the Win Proskins Ego Scarlett Boots

Rock On Ruby for the Win Proskins Ego Scarlett Boots

It’s been nearly twelve months since I became unable to wear heels, and whilst it irritates when I’m going out out, it makes me really happy to know that I have a plethora of different flat shoes and boots to wear. I have a small thing for black boots at the moment; Timberlands, knee highs and now my amazingly fabulous Scarlett Bow Boots from Ego Official. A little bit heavy duty and rock chick with the studs and biker boot style, but with a soft femininity from the velvet bows. Since I have these boots, I have worn them to death. I did this last year with my over the knee boots and they literally fell apart. I get so many compliments about these boots, and the fact that they’re only £39.99 makes them even more special!

Now it has been snowing, and the temperatures have dropped somewhat, I have found a new item of clothing that I will be loving in for the foreseeable – my onesie. Jobs a good un’!

The last day for guaranteed Christmas delivery with Rock on Ruby is to have your order in by Monday. Don’t miss out!

A Faux Fur Fashion Tale

My work colleague Natalie said to me one day last week ‘Do you own anything that’s not furry?’. The answer, my friends, is no. From furry boots, to hats and scarves, coats and gloves and cute little collars, I have a slight addiction to all things furry. Faux fur, of course, as I wouldn’t want to be causing any unethical dramas. In fact, the only real fur that I wear is Thomas fur, and that’s not intentional – it’s just everywhere. This time of year is perfect for faux fur as it’s getting pretty cold at the moment. It was even trying to snow on Saturday which is just bizarre as it’s gone from being quite mild to being bloody freezing in days. I’ve been piling on the layers recently in a bid to keep cosy, and I think I have cracked it with my essential winter style.

A Faux Fur Fashion Tale

A Faux Fur Fashion Tale

A Faux Fur Fashion Tale

A Faux Fur Fashion Tale

Working in the centre of Manchester has been forcing me to head to Primark several times a month, and I have been a little bit overwhelmed with just how many amazing things I have found in there. In a matter of weeks, and without spending a fortune, I have managed to update my wardrobe from basic tops to winter appropriate clothes. Picking up skirts that cost £8 is just insane to me – why can’t all shops be like this! Sticking with my usual colour palette of neutral hues, pastels pinks and muted greys, I have managed to create a capsule wardrobe that can be mixed up so well, that I can select from several outfit choices with only a handful of items.

The Primark leather look A Line skirt has been featured in Glamour magazine as a must buy. Must buy I did, in grey and also a mauve dusty lilac shade. I love the zip pockets and the detailing of the hardware, and the style of the skirt sits really well on curvy hips. I went up a size on the grey skirt, which was a bit too big but it hung off my hips rather than sat at the waist, giving extra length to the where it sits on the leg.

Lightweight knits are the best thing to be invented for this weather. Enabling you to layer up, yet you are safe in the fact that you won’t be overheating as soon as you step in doors. The majority of the tops that I have been buying lately have been lightweight knits, and I find them so versatile. The blush pink tie detail jumper from Primark was just £6. It has a lovely, cosy texture to it that reminds me of a cross between mohair and fleece.

As soon as I saw the stunning hooded faux fur gilet from Lasula, I had to get it. I have a thing for grey, I don’t know what it is about the colour but I love it. With it being Black Friday weekend, it isn’t on the website at the moment but it was new in just 3 weeks ago, so I am sure it will be back in stock soon. It’s £55, which I think is an absolute steal for the quality of the gilet. It is so fluffy and cosy that I don’t want to take it off. The faux fur is soft and of such great quality, and it’s oh so warm. So warm that even whilst it’s getting colder, you won’t be worried about your arms being out because you feel like you are enveloped in a warm, fluffy hug.

Finishing my winter uniform off, a pair of over the knee boots. I really need to start stocking up on these, because I live in them. Last years boots had a slight heel, however I wore them until they fell apart and then I damaged my back so heels are really an option anymore. I’ve traded them in for Ego Arlo Over the Knee Boots in a faux suede and they are the most comfortable boot that didn’t need any breaking in. No wonder I want to live in them.

Halloween Week – What’s New Pussycat!

I have had the most fun putting together these Halloween looks and I’m not going to lie, I’m sad that I’ve done them all now. But, I have loved bringing some fashion posts back to the blog and I have really missed Girl In The Mirror, so I think that I need to do some more soon. The final part of Halloween week has been inspired by my baby. That’s right, I have been inspired to dress up for Halloween by my cat, Thomas. I do think that dressing up as a cat for Halloween is not only fun, but it also incorporates clothes that you don’t need to save just for Halloween. Plus, any excuse to wear cat ears, right?

The Lee Stafford Chopstick Styler has been one of my most used hair tools since I took delivery of it last summer. I adore how you can create the tiniest of tightest corkscrew curls or big loose ringlets using the same wand. For my look today, I used a mixture of tight curls and larger sections, to give real volume underneath with the larger curls on the top so they weren’t as tight. As my hair was freshly washed, I used the Moroccan Oil Texture Spray to give it some grit and hold, and I expect my curls to last a good few days. A bit of hair oil helps separate the curl and give a more defined look and to control the frizz. The Cat Ear head band is a cute little find from New Look, and it’s rose gold and sparkly. Love, love, love!

My cat inspired makeup was slightly easier to do than my Devil makeup from Wednesday. Using Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation over Marc Jacobs Coconut Primer, the base was dewy and glowing. On my eyes, I used the Too Faced Cat Eyes palette, which couldn’t have been any more perfect. This palette contains wet and dry shadows and the pigmentation of the shadows when wet is insane. A simple day time eye was enhanced by placing most of the shadows under the lower lash line, and extending my natural lash line to look more cat like. The Kiss Lash Couture Little Black Dress lashes were used again, and I still can’t get over how gorgeous they look.

When choosing the outfit for this look, I must admit that I feel like I got a bit carried away with being cat-like. I had a vision when browsing the Pretty Little Thing website and I saw so many items that I was though would be perfect, however, I didn’t want to get anything that I could wear again. I think I’ve been quite clever in my choices, as not only do they fit the brief but they will be very wearable. I spotted the Orla Distressed Sweater Dress and knew straight away that it would be ideal. With cat-like claw slashes across the shoulders and the hem, it’s bang on trend and also super cosy. I do love an oversized sweater.

As a self confessed coat addict, I fell in love with the Amaria Black Shaggy Jacket. I’ve been called many names since I’ve worn this, from being furry to being a gorilla, but do you know what? I am warm, cosy and it looks great with so many outfits. Teaming it with my distressed sweater dress, I feel that it is very reminiscent of a cat and even Thomas loves it. If I leave it without hanging it up, he’s all over it.

As the dress is quite short on me, I wanted to pair it with some tights and conserve my modesty. When hunting through my lingerie drawer, I found these suspender-esque tights from Primark. I can’t tell you how long I’ve had them or even if they still do them as the packaging and label was practically vintage. That being said, the tights were fine and I think they look pretty ace on, if I do say so myself. Although you can’t see them to the full potential, I’m wearing my black Fishnet Sock shoes. Fishnets and stilletos? I think we are on to a winner. Unlike having to wear a separate pair of fishnets to get the effect, the fishnets are actually attached to the shoe. Not only does it make them look a bit trendy but the sock of the fishnet makes it feel like I have a bit more support when wearing the shoes. It’s great for me, as I’m still a bit Bambi like on heels at the moment.

I actually couldn’t decide on which outfit of the three that I have done this week is my favourite, but what I do know is that if I get a last minute invitation to a party this weekend, I have three outfits to choose from. Winning at life!

Halloween Week – Better The Devil You Know!

Hello my pretties, and welcome back to the Spooktacular Halloween Week. I do hope you enjoyed the ghoulish ghostly look from Monday. I’m going to take it up a notch today and go for a more glamorous yet devilish look. Whether you are thinking of a blood sucking vampire or a blood curdling devil, this look can be adapted to suit anything that summons up the thought of blood and spine tingling fantasy. It’s funny because I’ve never really been one to wear red but as soon as I have donned my red dress, I feel like a different person. It’s definitely got me feeling a bit devilish!

I am totally crushing on this red frill bardot dress from Pretty Little Thing. I can never usually get any with wearing bardot dresses due to the need of a bra, but the frills cover up the lack of support from the strapless bra that I’m wearing, and I really like how girly and flirty I feel it. In a skater dress style, the dress pulls in at the waist to give some shape, and the frills cover my problem areas ie. my lack of waist at the moment. I feel really confident in it, and although slightly shorter in length than I would usually wear, it looks great with a pair of heels and the addition of some Vita Liberata Body Blur to smooth out my skin tone. I’ve found these little devil accessories in Poundland of all places. A devils fork, a headband and a devils tail, which I didn’t feel was necessary for the look.

I think I have fallen in love with wigs and I want them in every style and colour. The Vixen wig from Hot Hair is a particular favourite of mine. Made from synthetic hair in a dark red, it has an adjustable band that secures it to my head without the need for glue. The colour does look slightly different in real life than it does on camera and the natural light makes it look a lot more red than the deep red that it is. That being said, I love how it looks on and I think red could possibly be a strong contender for my future hair colour.

My eye makeup look took a lot longer to do than the ghoulish dead look that I created on Monday. Using Marc Jacobs Re(Marc)able foundation, and fully contouring with my Iconic London cream contour palette, I wanted a flawless yet sculpted look. On my eyes, I used MAC Carbon with Venetian Red and Love Letter from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette. Using a black felt liner I gave myself a sharp liner bringing the inner corners in towards my nose. I have also fallen in love with the Kiss Lash Couture Faux Mink Lashes in Little Black Dress. I absolutely love them on. They’re not only comfortable but they’re not insanely over the top and I feel that I could wear these throughout the day as well as for an evening.

Pretty Little Thing have some fab Halloween inspired accessories including these glitter face stickers to resemble dripping blood. They are easy to apply, easy to remove and are so comfortable on the skin that you actually forget that you are wearing them. I think they are a really great product for upping your Halloween game.

I think this could be my favourite outfit so far! Don’t forget to check out my post from Monday for a super easy ghostly look.

Halloween Week – Ghoulish Goings On

Halloween used to be quite a quiet affair and wasn’t anywhere on a level it is in America, but it seems like it has started to get more and more popular. It really is one of my favourite times of year, and I must admit that dressing up for a Halloween night out fills me with joy. I take great pleasure in bringing out the Halloween themed trinkets that I have collected and displaying them around the house, and I find this time of year to be on a par with Christmas with the excitement levels. I have been playing around with makeup and outfits and over the course of this week, I am bringing to you three different looks with make up that is easy to achieve and outfits that can be worn again, rather than just hanging around in the wardrobe ready for the next Halloween night out. Today, I am channelling the ghoulish and the dead and this ghostly apparition is really quite simple yet very effective. Plus, cheekbones to die for. Gettit?

Halloween Week - Ghoulish Goings On

Halloween Week - Ghoulish Goings On

For the makeup, I have used just five products to create a ghostly looking face. On moisturised skin, I used the Snazaroo white face paint with a touch of MAC Fix Plus to make sure it wasn’t drying. Using my Artis makeup brush, I buffed in the white face paint, and let it dry. Using just two eyeshadows; a carbon matte black and a warm berry toned purple, I carved in cheekbones, and contoured the life out of my nose. The purple shade was used to create some warmth and depth to my cheeks, as well as to soften the eye contour and to give the illusion of bloodless skin. A matte brown shade was used to for the brows, before I added the Ciate Feline Flick black liner, and enhanced my lashes with Lancome Monsieur Big mascara. For my lips, a deep berry lipstick, in Merina by Urban Decay. In all, the makeup took around 15 minutes with the majority of time spent on buffing out the colours so there are no harsh lines.

I have been dying to wear to my new wig from Natural Image. This is the Influence lace front wig in Creamy Glow, and it is absolutely beautiful. I adore wigs and hair extensions to change my look and I cannot wait until my hair is that little bit longer so I can get my hair extensions back in. I really miss having long hair at the moment and being able to add a wig to change my look is probably one of the easiest ways to get the hair that you desire. The quality of the wig is exceptional and although I have brought the parting across to the side, you can wear it with a centre parting without it looking like you are wearing a wig. The wig itself is adjustable so it sits tight on my pea head and with some wig glue, I can make sure that it stays in place forever. I’m so happy with it.

To finish off my ethereal ghostly look, I have chosen a white straight neck maxi dress with a side split from Pretty Little Thing. At just £22 it’s not only affordable but due to the style and cut of the dress, it can be worn for many occasions. I do think that some maxi dresses fall a little too short on my nearly 6ft frame, but the length of this dress is really good, and falls past my ankles. The split is rather daring and cheeky, which incidentally, I really quite like.

I must admit that I am absolutely loving this look. It’s not something that I would usually do as it’s quite dark and serious, but I’m really happy with how it’s turned out. Would you do a look like this for Halloween?

Is it Autumn yet?

I’m going to be somewhat controversial here, but I have been counting down the days until I can say that it’s time for autumn fashion to come back out. This summer has been an absolute wash out. It’s rained more times than I’ve had hot dinners, and I have ruined so many pairs of summer shoes because it’s decided to be a gloriously sunny day whilst I head to work, for it to end up in a torrential downpour. I am not comfortable in summer fashion – give me a cosy knit and a warm scarf any day. Now it’s September, it’s nearly autumn and those black opaque tights have come out from hibernation. I am a very happy girl. Recently, I headed up to Sheffield with Keeley for some R ‘n’R, a few gins and good catch up whilst walking around the picturesque town. It was a perfect opportunity to introduce some new fashion and of course, get some outfit shots, which, is unusual for me as they’re usually done in front of the mirror!

Being in between different weathers, I packed whilst it was throwing it down and it ended up in glorious sunshine. Thankfully, my trusty parka from Next is designed for all seasons. Although it looks quite thick and bulky, the inner fleece can be removed for warmer days, as well as the fur trim on the hood. Not only is it great for the difference weathers, but it helps when it comes to washing it. The parka has a drawstring waist so it can be cinched in to create shape in an otherwise shapeless coat. I have had this parka for a good 5 years and it’s still going strong, however Next do have their latest version on line, which has a beautiful white faux fur collar. I need it. I always trust Next with my coats as I find them to have superior quality, as well as being quite reasonably priced.

You can’t go wrong with a pair of skinny jeans and I recently took to Twit

ter to express my delight at finding jeans in Primark in a 34 and 36 inch leg. High waisted skinnies, that are skinny on the leg, that come long enough so my ankles don’t get cold? They’re a winner for me, especially when they’re only £9 a pair. I have washed my black jeans several times now and I haven’t noticed much fading, if any. They wash well, don’t pick up fluffy bits and dry really easily too. Now I need to get them in every colour available!

I have been obsessing over Look Of The Day website, and the fact that I can get a selection of clothes that are bang on trend, that go up to a size 16 and are often part of some amazing deals and offers is blowing my mind. I saw this blue off the shoulder striped shirt (similar here) on the website and fell in love. It’s not something that I would usually wear due to my bust, but pushing myself out of my comfort zone has been quite empowering. I would have preferred it to be a size bigger as the sizes are slightly off, but I still think it wore well and I love the off the shoulder, ‘I just threw this oversize shirt on’ look. I think it looks fab with skinny jeans and my parka. I keep browsing the site and I have found so many tops that I want. I love the t.shirts from LOTD as well. I have a few and they wash so well, and are perfect for work. Yay for casual dress code.

As seen in my previous post, the Stella McCartney style chained shoulder bag is still up for grabs on my Instagram. Head to Anoushka Loves, follow myself and LOTD-Official and tag a friend underneath my photo. The competition ends on Monday 25th at 9pm.

One thing I love about autumn is the fact that I can start wearing my boots. I seem to have built up quite an extensive collection of boots, which isn’t surprising as I have been forced into wearing flat shoes and boots after slipping my disc. I love boots, and there are so many styles that can be worn with different outfits. Over the years, I seem to have found a love for Timberland, and I own some of the classic style nubuck leather wheat coloured boots, and now I have added a pair of the 6inch Timberland boots to my collection in black. Cloggs have such a great selection of branded footwear, that I’m finding myself browsing frequently in order to stock up ready for winter. I love to team them with skinny jeans as well as wearing them with tights and skirts or day dresses for a more casual feel. Timberland are by far one of the most hard wearing brands of boots that I have owned. My classic wheat coloured boots are heading into their twelfth year of wear and still look as new as they did when I first got them. They look like they will be heavy on your feet but this couldn’t be further from the truth. They hold your feet in place, support your ankles and as they are supple nubuck, I don’t have any problems with breaking them in. Having walked all day around Sheffield, I was expecting some rubbing on my ankles and heels, but I had no issues what so ever. They might be expensive, but they are worth every single penny.

Now that autumn is here, I am going to share as many of my autumn essentials in fashion as much as I can. I just adore this season, and all I need now is a Pumpkin Spice latte and I will be a happy little bunny. What makes you think of autumn and what’s your favourite autumn essential when it comes to fashion?

Hey Girl, Where Have You Been?!

Do you remember when I used to be pretty regular on the blogging scene? It feels like a lifetime since I have been. It’s funny how life really does get in the way, and how things get pushed to one side. Believe me, when I say, that it isn’t just my blog that’s gone awry. My life seems to have been thrown upside down and I’m just trying to organise the pieces as they fall. I’ve really really missed writing, in fact, as I’m sat writing this, I’m thinking about the rest of September and what content I can bring to you, as well as try and squeeze in some content that I missed due to my absence in the Bloggersphere.

The majority of you who follow me on social will have seen the Instagram Stories that I occasionally push out saying that I’m trying to get back on track and although it may not seem it, I have been working on things behind the scenes as such. It’s taken me a long time to get my love back for Instagram; the failing algorithm, the fact I’m seeing 3 day old pictures every time I log in and having lost my creative juices. I feel like each time I try something new, someone puts an image on similar and it’s driving me mad!

Pink Chiffon Dropped Hem Top – NOW £5

I have a lot of content to write, and the mental block has been pretty difficult to overcome. As many of you know, I started a new job at the end of July after five months of being off work with my back. I absolutely love my new job and it has been the best decision I have made. It’s made me realise after all the years of flying, although I loved the destinations, that I was truly missing something in my life. Yes, it might be as simple as a regular sleeping pattern, a full fridge and a social life, but I’ve realised that there is so much more to life. I actually feel really at peace with everything at the moment due to my new job. I’ve fit in wonderfully, my team are amazing and I’m really enjoying myself. Plus, I step through my own front door each night and I have finally started to be able to relax during my time to myself.

My health has since improved with the addition of Pregabalin to my medication. It has been like a wonder drug that has changed my life for the better. It’s worked so well, that I rarely have to take pain medication, and just stick to Naproxen and Pregabalin for my daily tablets. The nerve damage has been masked, and I don’t even have to worry about side effects from things which is so amazing. It means that I don’t have to always think about what I’m doing and how I move, however I still won’t lift anything heavy as it always plays on my mind. I will of course always have a slipped disc, but thanks to great meds, and a fantastic support from the NHS, I can get on with my life like before.

Of course, there are still things going on in my personal life and my Grandad is seriously ill. It’s hit me like a ton of bricks as my Grandad is more like a Dad to me and it’s horrible to see him like this so I want to cherish every single moment with him. I think that’s why everything has taken a back step, and because he is so important to me, the other things are so much insignificant in the great scheme of things. It’s been absolutely incredible to have the support of my readers, followers and fellow bloggers. I’ve been overwhelmed by all the beautiful messages I’ve had from people who follow me and I didn’t realise just how much people care. It’s truly heartwarming.

So, to make this into a fashion based post, I’m sharing with you a new clothing brand that I am obsessed with. Look Of The Day, or LOTD as it’s affectionately known, has the latest fashions that are always on offer. I had a huge splurge and got lots of items that have been perfect for work and my days off, in styles that are on trend, and even fit my curves. I’ve been obsessed with this chiffon backed jumper, teamed with jeans and these peep toe Western boots. As I can no longer wear heels, the heel height of these make them super comfortable to walk in as well as having no adverse effect on my back. I also love this Stella style clutch with chain handle. It’s big enough for all my daily essentials and looks great with everything. I love it when an outfit comes together with just a few accessories. If you would like to win your very own bag, head over to my Instagram where I have a little competition for you!

So, that is me bringing you up to date with everything that is going on. I feel so much lighter now I’ve sat down to write. I’ve actually missed it so much. My goal is to try and get back on track, and I will get there even though it may take some time. I must say though, it’s great to be back!

Girl In The Mirror – The Chambray Dress from Two for Joy

It has been approximately seven months since the last time I created an outfit post and I’ve been really struggling to come to terms with doing fashion related posts at the moment. I feel like I’ve packed on the weight from all the months sitting around the house, I feel like my skin is covered in bruises from the amount of NSAID medication that I’m on, and my hair, although currently lilac, is not behaving in the way I wish it to behave. No amount of excuses will make up for the workload that I have though, so it’s time to take the bull by the horns and show off my new outfits and get back into the swing of things. The summer is well and truly underway, and the temperatures are rising, making outfit selection really quite tricky. Not warm enough for bare arms, but too warm for a jacket, I’m finding that layers are my new best friend, along with materials that allow my skin to breathe such as this beautiful chambray dress from Two for Joy.

Two for Joy are a Manchester based company who spend time sourcing quality fabrics to create classic cut styles of clothing that are designed to last. In a world of fast fashion, where a dress that cost £8 gets worn once for it to be thrown away and another bought, it’s quite a stance to take. I’ve always been a fan of classic designs, and styles that don’t need to be replaced that often. Smart fitted shirts, tailored blazers and jackets, jeans that not only fit well, but wash well. It’s nice to be able to use accessories to keep outfits on trend but ultimately have something that lasts longer than the season trends.

The Two for Joy Chambray Dress in Grey is one of those great pieces for summer. Made from 100% cotton, it’s so lightweight when worn. Being made of cotton, there’s very little give in the material, and because of the chest area, I’ve found that wearing it unbuttoned with a vest top underneath not only gives an extra layer but gives the dress a completely different look without drawing too much attention. The dress does come with a tan belt, that can be removed, meaning that you can accessorise with other complementary colours as well as matching to other accessories you may have. I do love the small capped sleeves on the dress, as I find that sleeveless dresses do make me look quite boxy. The cut of the cap sleeve looks very flirty and feminine, as does the cut of the hem of the dress. I do wish I could have gone up an extra size just to compensate for the bust, but I think that it could also be detrimental as it would be bigger everywhere else. I think that after my experience of Two for Joy, I’m really quite tempted to stock my wardrobe up with classic pieces that not only fit my personal style, but will also not slip out of fashion easily. For example, the Rose Full Skirt has been designed for me, I’m sure!

I’ve really had to rethink my shoe wardrobe situation recently, and comfort has had to take over style in a lot of situations. I’ve had to swap all my heels for flats, and although it has opened up the door to buying lots and lots of new shoes, I’ve really struggled in finding that ideal mix of fashion and style. I’ve been heading to Hotter Shoes for a few years now, as their work suitable shoes have been absolutely perfect for my needs. I’ve never had to wear the shoes in, yet I’ve had immediate comfort without rubbing or blistering. The Hotter Sun Sandals, which have since gone in the sale, are one of these shoes. Leather, malleable, and oh so comfortable, in a fashionable gladiator style design. I cannot put into words just how comfortable these sandals are. They’re like wearing slippers. Even with the straps across the shoe, there has been no rubbing or any hurting my feet. Another pair of Hotter Shoes that I have been really pleased with!

When it comes to accessories, I like to keep it simple. Aside from my multitude of earrings, I barely wear anything more than a delicate necklace and bracelet, as well as my rings. I haven’t worn my rings lately with the weather being so warm, I’ve found things on my hand to be quite uncomfortable. Has anyone else experienced that or just me? When it comes to bracelets, I’m very picky. I like delicate yet charming pieces that look unique and special. The Lola Rose Eastcote Bracelet in Sky Blue Quartzite is one of those bracelets that I couldn’t take my eyes off once I saw it. It’s so me, and especially with my love of aqua and mint green. I love how they are also stackable, which makes my inner collection hoarder very happy. It also means that they work well with other bracelets; they’re simple and elegant and designed to be within company. I can imagine that I will end up with quite a few others in the not too distant future.

For my first outfit shots in recent months, I must admit that my confidence has wavered quite a lot. Lets hope that I can pull it back together for some future shoots because I have missed doing them. I’ll also be doing a post on my makeup look next week, so make sure you pop back to read it.

Autumn Fashion Trends – Preparing for the Seasonal Change

Autumn fashion trends: what should we expect to see in 2017?

With the so called Summer looking like it’s passing already, it’s got me thinking about autumn and autumn styles. With the excitement of city evenings, belted coats, fishnets and vintage inspired fur coats are coming to the forefront of my wardrobe for this season.

Together with Trilogy Stores*, I’m looking at the hottest trends to expect this autumn. By following this guide, we can make the most of autumnal-chic, and glide effortlessly into the winter months without any fashion faux pas, and as autumn – winter is my favourite season, I am very excited about this.

Belted coats

A belted coat is perfect during this season, and it is such a statement piece to wear whilst out on an evening, whether it be for a walk or drinks in the city. A belt cinches in the waist, creating a smooth silhouette and adding a touch of sophistication and elegance.

I love to wear a statement faux fur coat, and even with a stylish leather trench coat – the belt is a refining piece that can be knotted or fastened depending on your look.

Alongside the belted coat, wide waisted belts will be making an appearance this autumn; they can be worn over your coat, or, they can be added to an evening dress that will help to define your shape. Browns, blacks, and reds are colours that aren’t only popular, but help you to channel the vibrant colours of the season. If you’re worrying about keeping warm this autumn – Jumper 1234 are sure to keep you warm with fashionable designs that appeal to the comforting colours of the season.

Suiting in style

This trend is set to go global by September: the female suit. Not only does it keep you warm during the colder months of autumn and into winter, it also produces a look that is powerful.

Elegantly designed slacks and pressed double-breasted jackets are all the rage this autumn; together with pronounced shoulders and shoulder-width trousers, the suit helps to heighten a masculine look for the female fashion-forward. Don’t worry, this isn’t a return of the eighties; it’s power-dressing for 2017.

True blue

Summer is all about eye-catching pinks, and vivid scarlets – but once the leaves begin to change from green to orange, dusky modest blues define autumn. Labelled as the new ‘it’ colour, the melancholy notes incorporated by dark blues within an outfit can really make a lasting impact.

Wearing a pale blue shirt with slim-fitting grey trousers for an outfit that is subtle yet eye-catching. Wearing a bright blue mac will create a subtle contrast between your outfit and the autumnal vibe around you.

Nylon jackets

Whether you’re going to a festival or event, or even walking through town, a nylon coat is the transitional outerwear that you’ve been looking for. Without fear of any creases, this type of coat is similar to a mac, and can be packed away in your suitcase or even rolled into your bag to take to any event without any hassle.

These cutting edge jackets can be worn casually with flats, or can be worn on the evening with a pair of high boots or heels. I love how blacks, browns, and greens are all this autumn and mixing colours can create make such an impact that’s practically effortless.

Beach Babein with Simply Beach

I want the summer weather! Where is it? I actually really want to go on holiday, as I am starting to miss the old long haul at the moment but I cannot see a light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to being able to get back to work. The day that my back decided to give up the ghost has really changed a lot of things in my life, including being able to get a natural tan, and to also keep myself trim enough to slip into a bikini. I must stop the packets of biscuits whilst sat at home, as it’s not helping matters. Anyway, I’m digressing. Whilst I’ve been dreaming of the sunshine and distant shores, I spent some time putting together some pieces for my perfect holiday get away. Keeping the glamour whilst looking stylish and sophisticated is what I want from my beach wear and I think I have hit the jackpot with my choices.

Simply Beach is a website that was totally new to me, but I wish I had discovered it many years ago. A one stop shop for all things holidays from some of my favourite brands such as Panache, Melissa Odabash and Ted Baker. I had a bit of a splurge and I found the most amazing bikini and matching kaftan from Fantasie. Having a considerable bust, I’ve never been able to just pop into a high street shop and get a matching bikini set for £10. It does usually cost me around £60 for a full bikini set, and although this sounds quite expensive to some, I find that the money I have spent is worthwhile due to the fit and quality. I have bikinis that have quite literally lasted me for years. I’m sure the Fantasie Caya Bikini Top at £42 and matching Fantasie Caya Mid Rise Briefs at £26 will be no exception. In a bold animal print, with a gathered full cup style, the bikini top is flattering whilst it fits beautifully. I also find that due to the strong pattern that it draws away attention from my cleavage and centres it around the style of the bikini rather than focusing on my body. The mid rise briefs are also a welcome change from the tiny little bikini bottoms that I am seeing on girls these days. I wish I had the confidence to wear them but I just couldn’t!Beach Babein with Simply Beach

Simply Beach Fantasie Caya Bikini Mid Rise Briefs Kaftan

Simply Beach Fantasie Caya Bikini Mid Rise Briefs Kaftan

Simply Beach Fantasie Caya Bikini Mid Rise Briefs Kaftan

A beach cover up is almost as important as the actual bikini. It’s quite funny really because I have certain requirements from a beach kaftan. I want to be able to wear it for breakfast and lunch without it being too revealing and I like it to be opaque enough that it doesn’t show off my skin, and long enough to cover my bum. Simple really. The matching Fantasie Caya Kaftan at £48 is just perfect. It sits at the length so it’s more like a dress, whilst you can just see the outline of my bikini underneath without revealing everything. It also has tie sides to cinch in the kaftan making it look more stylish.

I’ve always wanted a big oversized sunhat that reminds me of glamorous film stars, lazing by the pool in their finery. I found this amazing one by Gottex on the Simply Beach site, and it was love at first sight. It’s huge, and its over the top and it’s so me that it hurts. How can you be in love with a hat? The Gottex Belladonna Wide Brimmed Hat, £47 is defintely my holiday essential. It’s also made of a material that will bounce back if squashed or rolled into your case – I checked! Now, I don’t know about you but I absolutely cannot bear carrying round a huge beach bag. I can fit all I need in a small bag when heading to the beach. Aside from suncream, which I prefer to apply in my room prior to heading out, I only like to keep a lip balm with SPF and a small tube of SPF50 with me, as well as my Kindle, ear phones, cards and cash. I really have managed to start packing light these days. The Seafolly Carried Away Utility bag, £30 is ideal for the beach. Gold and shimmery, I particularly love the dangling Pineapple charm on the side of the bag. Inside the bag, there’s plenty of space for the essentials as well as a zip up section to put my phone and kindle in. The gold colour makes it very wearable with the majority of my existing bikinis and it looks great with the Fantasie Caya set.

I wouldn’t usually put a pair of wedges with beach wear but I was feeling quite fancy and spotting my Head Over Heels by Dune London wedges, I thought they were absolutely perfect for holidays. The Head Over Heels range by Dune London is still the same great quality as Dune but with a slightly lower price point. These wedges are a few seasons old but they do have some great styles in at the moment.

I’ve also added a pair of absolutely fabulous sunglasses by Tom Ford. These are my second pair of Tom Ford sunglasses, the first being called Anoushka with these, the Tom Ford Valeria. I found them at Discounted Sunglasses for just £129 instead of the £225 RRP. They are from a previous season however they do have some styles in that are quite current. I often find that online stores that sell sunglasses and the like at cheaper prices make me quite wary but the fact the Discounted Sunglasses have a TrustPilot rating of 9.3 and also receiving genuine and authentic sunglasses has made me very happy. I’ll definitely be looking for a new pair soon and to expand my collection.

All this talk of holidays has made me just want to pack my bags and disappear into the horizon. Where should I go next?
