There’s just ten days to go to get your ticket for The Handmade Christmas Fair in Manchester, presented by none other than the queen of home made – Kirstie Allsopp. The three day extravaganza based at Manchester Central from the 20th to the 22nd November, will play host to Allsopps best designers and artisans who will be teaching, crafting and creating beautiful products that will be ideal for Christmas. It’s a perfect opportunity to kick start the festivities and even make a dint into your Christmas shopping list.

There will be talks and demonstrations from Kirstie herself, which I am really excited for, as well as experts such as Annie Sloan, Sean Wilson and Kittie Grayson. You can take part in the skills workshop, make a grand make in front of 200 fellow enthusiasts and have a mooch around the Shopping Village. I had best take my credit card.

My home town of Manchester has given me some of my best years. A thriving shopping destination – hello Selfridges, a huge airport which lets me fly to exotic destinations on a weekly basis and a city centre that is jam packed with bars and restaurants where I can wine and dine alongside my friends. Being a blogger in Manchester has also opened up a whole new world for me and I have made some of the most amazing friends over the last few years. Get The Label organised a bloggers brunch for us all and on a chilly Friday morning, I got to spend a few hours with my nearest and dearest at Proper Tea by Manchester Cathedral.

The original premise of the brunch was to celebrate with some rest and relaxation after a month of strenuous Bikram yoga or Spinning. Unfortunately, due to work commitments and only spending 8 days a month in the UK, there was absolutely ho way on earth that I would be able to go spinning or get flexible with yoga after a slog of long haul flights. I was however definitely in need of tea and a healthy brunch.

Proper Tea on Cathedral Street is a little favourite of mine. With a huge selection of loose teas, I chose to have the Sunshine Earl Grey; Black tea scented with grapefruit and rose, with exotic flowers. It certainly was a little pot of sunshine and I will be having it on my next visit. A brunch of bagels and cream cheese, sugar free flapjack cakes and a squash, rocket and feta salad was presented to us whilst we chatted away and caught up on weeks of not seeing each other. It was so lovely to see my friends Keeley, Emma, Holly and Lauren and I also got to meet a few bloggers who I hadn’t met before.

After we were sufficiently fed and watered, it was time for the relaxation part of the brunch with a talk from Temple Spa about their gorgeous products designed for perfect pampering and to send our bodies into a state of content. Having used Temple Spa products before, I was keen to see more. I have put Quietude pillow spray and Repose resting cream on my wishlist as they smell so good and make me feel so serene.

A finishing touch to the Bloggers Brunch was a gorgeous goodie bag packed full of health products and Temple Spa minis and my new favourite toy – the FitBug Orb. I hope to update you on this little tracking device in the future.

Thank you Natalie and the gang at Get The Label for a lovely morning and I hope we can do it again soon.

I’ve been to some pretty good events over the last few months but one of my favourites has been the Trilogy Skincare event that took place at the DoubleTree Hilton in Manchester. It was one of those beautiful Spring days, when you started to realise that Winter was disappearing quickly and Spring was knocking on the door. Fresh and crisp, I was skipping through Manchester, feeling full of the joys. The Sky Lounge at the DoubleTree was the ideal location to learn about all things Trilogy, with the sun shining onto the terrace and a room filled with the most amazing scented products. I was in skincare heaven.

Trilogy Skincare

I’ve used one product by Trilogy and I’m sure you can guess what it was, as it is the most famous product that they make ; the Trilogy Rosehip Oil. I love a good facial oil and find that they really help in balancing out my combination skin and adding that extra oomph that my dehydrated skin needs.

I was shown the entire range of products that Trilogy make and I was so surprised at just how extensive the range is. Product ranges include hair, body and self tan as well as ultra sensitive and those with age concerns. I spotted a handful of products that I have added to my wishlist including upgrading my Rosehip Oil to the Rosehip Oil Antioxidant + as it helps protect against the environment. Perfect for a trolley dolly or what?! I want to add the Hydrating Mist Toner into my daily routine and I spotted the CoQ10 Serum which I was getting all heart eyed emoji’d at as I love anything with the Q10 enzyme in it as it helps with signs of ageing.

Trilogy Skincare

Trilogy Skincare

I had a great experience in making my own Trilogy moisturiser whilst I was there which is something that I never expected that I would do. Its quite hard work pumping hot water into the concentrate, a blend of 12 natural botanical ingredients. The concentrate includes rosehip, evening primrose and marula and it feels quite waxy. As water and wax don’t blend together easily, water has to be forced into the wax in order to break it down and for the moisturiser to form as moisturiser as we know it.

Trilogy Skincare

A cup of tea, a good chat with the Trilogy experts and chicken wraps and chips on the terrace ended a beautiful day that was filled with all things natural and beautiful. I was lucky enough to take home my own hand made moisturiser as well as two items from the Trilogy skincare range; the Vital Moisturising Cream* and the Mineral Radiance Mask*. I’ll report back on them soon.

Trilogy Skincare

Have you tried any Trilogy Skincare? What do you think?

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to attend an exclusive event at Kara’s Blow Dry Bar in Manchester. An evening filled with blow dries, manicures and cocktails; which girl could turn that down? I’d been sitting my yearly exams at work so I was in dire need of a pamper and some good positive advice from my favourite Real Housewife, Tanya. Glamour model turned Footballers wife and now Life Coach, Tanya Bardsley has created the Tanya Bardo Life Coach line and I was extremely interested in finding out a bit more.

Life Coaching with Real Housewife Tanya Bardo

Kara’s Blow Dry Bar is conveniently located on John Dalton Street, and taking inspiration from the New York blow dry bars that have been gaining popularity over the last few years, they offer walk in appointments for a quick professional blow. The menu is extensive with a blow dry starting from £20. In house make up artists offer MAC makeovers for £25 with lash application. It’s a perfect place for those heading out into town for a night out and who need a bit of Va-Va Voom in their locks.

Life Coaching with Real Housewife Tanya Bardo

After having watched The Real Housewives of Cheshire over the last few weeks, I was really excited to meet Tanya. She’s one of the most down to earth girls, and I love how grounded and normal she considering the amount of press interest and fans she has. I had a really good chat with Tanya about her new book and her Dreams to Reality range. A lot of what Tanya said did resonate with me a lot. We are both the same age and as much as our lives do differ considerably, we both still have the same goals in achieving our dreams. Although I don’t want to be a top model and marry a footballer, I do always strive for success within my job and my life goals.

Life Coaching with Real Housewife Tanya Bardo

‘Just A Girl Who Got It All’ is Tanya’s debut book, filled with advice and positive thinking to change your attitude towards life. Banish negative thoughts and transform your own life, work on your own goals and turn your actions into success. It’s a great read, and I love the no nonsense, straight talking way that Tanya writes. I would have never in a million years read a self help book but ‘Just A Girl Who Got It All’ is a self help book with a difference; it’s for normal people who just need a helping hand in starting off their positive lifestyle.

Life Coaching with Real Housewife Tanya Bardo (8)

Life Coaching with Real Housewife Tanya Bardo

The Tanya Bardo Dreams to Reality range doesn’t just include the book, but a selection of jewellery with beautiful angel wing charms. I have the Angel Wing Silk Cord Bracelet in black*. The black cord stands for power, elegance, wealth and protection. The bracelet comes with a set of instructions in which you can write don your dreams and list five actions you can take to make your dreams a reality. The five actions match the five feathers on each angel wing. Since receiving my bracelet, I haven’t taken it off. I love that I have angel wings with me each day, especially working in aviation and with so many freak incidents happening within the aviation industry. It not only makes me feel positive but safe as well.

Life Coaching with Real Housewife Tanya Bardo

It’s been so lovely to meet Tanya, as well as Ampika who also turned up on the event, and it has been a welcome change to open my mind to the power of positive thinking. I know that I get bogged down so easily with the stress that is life, but with just a few simple actions, I am slowly taking the pessimistic out of my life and replacing it with a more positive outlook. Thanks to Steph at Ledigo PR for arranging such a fabulous event.

Every time I write Blogmas, I feel like I should have a theme tune like it’s a YouTube video or something. Fa la la la welcome to Blogmas Day 15 *jingle bells jingling*. I have been having a jolly old time as of late, and with the spirit of Christmas enveloping me like a big warm hug, I have been embracing all things Festive. My latest escapade was a trip to the Lake District to experience Husky Sledding with Transun. A short two hour drive to the Lakes on a beautiful Winters Day was just what the Dr ordered.

Husky Sledding Experience Transun

Transun are a small but wonderful little travel company who offer extraordinary holidays and travel in places such as the Artic, Finland, Lapland and Sweden. The experiences that Transun offer to me are once in a lifetime holidays and after browsing through the website and trying Husky Sledding with Transun, I would love to have a go of mushing in the Artic Tundra. As Transun couldn’t take us all to the Artic, Horse and Husky kindly showed us what would be in store if we were to book a Transun experience, by taking us mushing in the grounds of Wray Castle.

Husky Sledding Experience Transun

Husky Sledding Experience Transun

Meeting the dogs was amazing. I am such a huge animal lover so I was in my element. All of the huskies used by Horse and Husky are rescue dogs and they were dying to get mushing through the countryside. My dog, Wolf, was so excited and he was getting ready for a good run. Before I set off, I had a good practice on the three wheeled apparatus called a rig in which the dog was to pull. Getting used to the rig was easy, however getting the commands and remembering to stop when you say ‘Woah’ was quite hard.

Husky Sledding Experience Transun

Husky Sledding Experience Transun (7)

The mushing experience took around ten minutes throughout the countryside and it was a great experience. I loved how Wolf was so good, and didn’t make me feel nervous. He slowed down on command and when I felt a bit more confident, I allowed him to gather some speed. Now I’ve experienced this, I really would love the full experience complete with snow.

I had an exciting email drop into my inbox a few weeks ago about an event being held at Manchester Airport on behalf of World Duty Free and Biza. The invite promised an evening of pampering at the Biza Beauty Lock In, so named as after 6:30pm there would be no passengers in the terminal as the last flight had departed. Add to it a night in the Radisson Blu hotel with some top bloggers and friends and it was to be an event that I simply couldn’t miss.

World Duty Free and Biza

I checked into the Radisson Blu at 2:30pm and was advised to take the lift to the business class suites floor where I would find my room. I could also take advantage of the facilities in the hotel as well as the business class lounge where drinks and nibbles would be on offer throughout the day. My room was gorgeous, with a great view overlooking the airfield and runway. I couldn’t wait to get into my complimentary robe and slippers and relax on the bed before I met up with everyone at 5pm. When I went into the bathroom to freshen up, I was first greeted by the hotels toiletries which were by this Works, one of my favourite brands and then I saw the most gorgeous travel exclusive set by Clarins sitting on the vanity. I love Clarins. When I think of pampering at home, it definitely involves Clarins products!

World Duty Free and Biza

World Duty Free and Biza

I met up with Emma and Caroline at the welcome reception in the business class lounge, along with some of my favourite people; Gemma, Beth, Chelsea and Vicky and I couldn’t wait to spend some quality time with them after getting the security passes out of the way. Once we arrived airside, the fun could begin however it isn’t a trip to the airport security without a quick frisk and pat down.

World Duty Free and Biza (15)

The evening started in Jo Malone where we were greeted with bubbles and canapes, and got chance to chat to all the bloggers at the event as well as the staff from Biza, Jo Malone and World Duty Free. I had the most relaxing hand massage in Jo Malone using Pomegranate Noir hand cream and the Jo Malone Intense Fragrance Dark Amber and Gingerlily. If you are travelling anywhere soon, this complimentary treatment takes around 10 minutes and would be a perfect start to any holiday. Whilst being shown around the Biza shops, we learnt about the various services that were on offer to the public before they got on the plane. All treatments are free, but of course are subject to availability. With brands like Estee Lauder, Yves Saint Laurent, Clarins and Creme De La Mer offering mini facials, fatigue fighters and eye make ups looks, I can’t wait for the next time I go on holiday!

After the event was over, we headed back to the hotel for drinks and nibbles before crawling into those deluxe size marshmallow beds ready for a good night sleep before a hearty breakfast. It was such a lovely evening and I felt truly spoilt by the team from World Duty Free and Biza. If you need a hotel to stay in before you travel, I definitely recommend the Radisson Blu for a great night sleep, and a great location for access to all terminals.

I’m quite sure that this post may cause some controversy and spark up a lot of debate however I feel like I need to get it all off my chest, and explain why I am already hating this new brand that has set the beauty world into a bit of a tizz. First of all, I have no issues with the way people earn money and the ways in which they do so. That has nothing to do with me. Secondly, this is just my opinion and what I say is not gospel, and of course, your opinion may differ a lot. I’m not asking for an argument or hate towards what I say. This is just a simple post to get my frustrations out there.

There has been a massive buzz lately about this new wonder product, the 3D Fibre lash, that has only just been released into the UK in the last 7 days. The idea is a simple one. Using your own mascara as a base, and the Younique special fibres and lash building gel, you can recreate thick, full lashes in moments in the comfort of your own home. Not only will you have amazing lashes, but it stops the need for using false lashes. Alongside the 3D fibre lash, a whole range of products are available to purchase, each with the promise that they are the absolute best on the market. So, where can these amazing wonder products be purchased? Boots? Selfridges? Harrods? No. They have to be purchased through a distributor of Younique products. A distributor who is in a team with other distributors who all have a team distributor who rises through the Younique ranks by how many sales they have. Just like how the Juice Plus scheme works. And, if you like it enough, you can also be a distributor of make up and earn money whilst you do so.

In the last year, I have seen an increase of followers in my social media from new connections with names such as ‘Jane Juice Plus’ or ‘Sarah Juice Plus’ or ‘Joanne Juice Plus’. You get the idea. All these new followers have inboxed me promising an amazing new way to lose weight by eating whatever I like but taking these capsules that are way better than eating fruit and veg to get my daily amount of vitamins and minerals. No thanks. I’ve noticed how it has died down throughout the year, however I am expecting a huge increase of followers come January, all promising the same and using the same focus keywords in their pitch. I’ve also been asked if I would like to join team after team of people, all selling Juice Plus and earning so much money that I would have to give up my exceptionally well paid job as the money I would earn would surpass my gross salary. Sounds way to good to be true doesn’t it. I’ve also been asked to share the wonders of Juice Plus on my blog because I have a good readership and I could get people to sign up and make money too. The more people I sign in my team, the more money I will make. This pyramid scheme will keep bringing in the money for the people at the top, leading to self made millionaires across the globe. Until a new pyramid scheme arrives and takes over.

Hello to Younique. Another scheme that works using the same principles as Juice Plus. You, as a distributor, sign up members for your team and build sales. They can also become a team leader and drive sales in their own team with their own distributors. All great, and a great way to make money. Like I said, I have no issue with how people make their cash, however it only bothers me when I am getting bombarded. Not only by new followers, but also now by people who I have known for years who have looked down their nose at me for spending so much on makeup, yet now they are a self proclaimed make up artist because they are able to make their lashes resemble dead spider legs.

I totally get the concept. I also get that in this current economic climate that money is tight and extra cash on the run up to Christmas is ideal. What I don’t get it why, if this product is so good, is that it hasn’t been snapped up by buyers from high street stores and luxury stores such as Selfridges, Harrods and Space NK. If it is that good, why do I need to purchase it from a distributor that has a team leader that has a leaderboard on a website.

Every single day, I am being offered amazing opportunities, again using the same focus buzz keywords with the promise of financial freedom, great lashes and working in a great team. I don’t want to. I want to buy my make up at a department store based on my choices. I’m more than sure that when the 3D Fibre lashes are applied properly, they look amazing but from what I have seen…well, I’m not sold. I’m being bombarded daily by new pages from people asking me to like their Instagram/Facebook/Twitter pages ‘Younique by X’, ‘Younique by Y, ‘Younique by Z’. People are adding MUA to their names on Facebook. They’re telling me that I can’t live without fibre lashes. People are telling me that I don’t know much about beauty if I haven’t tried Younique. I’ve quite simply had enough of this hype and I am so bored from it all after being harrassed.

The sad thing is, when there was the original hype surrounding Younique, I was actually quite interested. Now, I couldn’t give two toots if I never saw it again. I know that some of my friends are distributors and I wish you every success with this scheme, however due to the sheer amount of harassment that Younique has brought to me, I will not be participating.

I never really do tags but since today is my birthday and as I haven’t written up a post for you, I thought I would share my thoughts on my most favourite time of the year. As October holds many amazing memories for me, the Autumn Tag is really getting me in the mood for what is coming up over the next few weeks and on the run up to Christmas. Thank you for the beautiful Francesca from Effstar Beauty for the tag.

The Autumn Tag

1. Coffee – What’s your favourite seasonal drink from Starbucks or any other coffee shop?

Well, of course it has to be Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks. I also love Gingerbread Lattes from Costa and although not a coffee, I love this time of year for drinking Chai Lattes.

2. Accessories – What do you opt for, scarf, boots or gloves?

All of it! I love wearing boots and this year I have some new patent riding boots from Moda In Pelle. I will also be digging out my Dr Martens, my Office suede grey over the knee boots and of course the Uggs. I love a matching hat and scarf to accessorise and I have bought a new cream combo from Primark with fur bobbles.

3. Music – What’s your favourite music to listen to during Autumn?

I don’t really have seasonal music however I love Paloma Faith and Rebecca Ferguson. Their music reminds me of previous Autumn days.

4. Perfume – What’s your favourite scent for this time of year?

Definitely Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir. I love its dark, seductive scent and I like to layer it with English Pear and Freesia for the daytime and wear it alone on an evening.

5. Candles – What scents will you be burning this season?

I will be heading to Bath and Body Works next week to pick up some spiced pumpkin scented candles before I move on to the Christmas Yankee Candles, especially Sugared Cookie and Red Apple Wreath.

6. What do you love best about Autumn?

My birthday, Halloween and layering up for the cold weather.

7. Favourite makeup look?

I don’t really change my makeup for seasons, but I like to wear more berry tones. My favourite blush for Autumn is Tom Ford Blush in Wicked, and I always wear Chanel Rouge Noir on my nails.

8. What are you looking forward to the most in the Autumn?

I love the darker nights drawing in, when I can get all cosy on my sofa in my autumnal pyjamas whilst the candles are lit. I can’t wait for the Christmas Markets to start, and having chance to catch up with all my beautiful friends who I haven’t seen in ages as I have been so busy at work.

I hope you liked The Autumn Tag. Do you have any special Autumnal things that you like to do? I tag all of my gorgeous beauty blogger friends!

Last week I received an email from Giff Gaff asking me to take part in their We’re The Boss campaign and it really struck a cord with me. Over the past few days I’ve been thinking about how I’ve taken control over my life and become the boss, and thought that I definitely needed to write this down for prosperity in the future and for whenever I am going through a bad patch, I can look back on this and think d’ya know what, I am the boss of my life and I can change things to suit.

Back when I was in my youth and at the ripe old age of 21, I knew that I wasn’t being fulfilled in the choices I had made in my career and personal life. I was still young enough to change things and wise enough to be able to put ideas into practice. After a bad break up, I knew it was time to open my mind and widen my horizons so I started to put the wheels in motion to start a new life overseas. The following year, aged 22, I took myself and my 60kg of luggage over to the beautiful island of Mallorca, the place where I would spend the next two years of my life. Like a Boss.

We're all the Boss Giff Gaff

When I hot 24, I realised that life overseas, although amazing, was slowly taking its toll on my body and realistically I wanted to be at home and settled. On my flight home, I got chatting to the cabin crew and decided that flying was the job that I was destined to do. I applied the evening I got home. Fast forward to 2014 and I am still working for the same airline, and I am still loving my job more than I have loved any other job I have had in the past. I took control of my career and now I am living a life that I love. Like a Boss.

We're all the Boss Giff Gaff

Although I spent a year at college, I didn’t find that it suited me at the time. I didn’t enjoy it, I struggled with the differences from school to college, not just academically but socially as well. I just didn’t feel like I fit in. I actually found that I prefered to work rather than study at the time so I dropped out. A few years later I started to regret my decision of not continuing into Higher Education so I took it upon myself to change things. Aged 25, I enrolled as an adult student with the Open University and over the course of three and a half years, I completed a BSc (Hons) in Criminology and Psychological Studies, with a Diploma in Social Policy and Criminology and a Certificate of Higher Education in Social Science. Like a Boss.

We're all the Boss Giff Gaff

So, for all those times when I think that life is getting out of control and that I can’t get a grip on things, I honestly need to start believing in myself. I have changed my life for the better. I have made ideas happen and changed thing I didn’t like. My regrets have been changed to positives and where I hve felt tied down, I’ve spread my wings. Life is what you make it. Be your own boss. We’re all the boss.

*This post is in conjunction with Giff Gaff and the We’re All The Boss campaign.

Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday dear Anoushka Loves, Happy Birthday to me!

Bakerdays Letterbox Cake

Ah, I can’t quite believe that I have had my little blog for 12 months. Last June, I had the idea to start a blog after being quite obsessed with Lily Pebbles and Vivianna Does Makeup. I loved reading blogs, and I also missed writing after I finished my degree back in 2011. So, with little help from my friend Karl, I bought a domain and hoped for the best! I didn’t actually write my first post for a few days after getting set up as I was a bit unsure of how I wanted to do it but low and behold, my writing head came along and I was blogging as often as I could. I had so much to learn as well as understand as having a self hosted WordPress blog and now, 12 months later I am more in love with blogging than I ever thought was possible.

In celebration of my birthday, it was only right that I celebrated with cake. I mean, what’s a birthday without cake?! When Bakerdays contacted me, it couldn’t have come at a better moment so whilst you are reading this, I will be tucking into my icing topped madeira Bakerdays Letterbox Cake*

Bakerdays Letterbox Cake

Bakerdays have come up with a fantastic way to celebrate with a friend, family member or loved one even if you can’t be there in person to celebrate. The letterbox is the perfect size to fit through the letterbox, and is packaged so it won’t get damaged. My cake was posted whilst I was out of the country and when I arrived home, I found it intact without any signs of damage or being disturbed in its celebration tin. Securely packed in the cake bag inside the tin, my Bakerdays Letterbox Cake also came with balloons, candles and a party blower, which the cat absolutely hates! Easy to remove from the tin by using the little paper tab, the cake is sealed in a breathable cake bag to ensure freshness for up to 14 days.

The cake itself is delicious. Fresh, moist vanilla sponge with a small amount of buttercream at the base. Just the right thickness of icing layers the cake and can be personalised with one of the 400 + designs available. My design was bespoke and I asked for my blog logo with pink and peach spots and Happy 1st Birthday. I think from the description that gave, it has turned out beautifully. You can also choose from five types of cake; Madeira, gluten and wheat free, fruit, dairy free and double chocolate chip. There really will be a cake there for everybody!

A slightly different blog post today from me however this story has touched me deeply therefore I felt I should share it with you all. Mila is my friends baby and was born in September 2013. In March 2014 Mila was diagnosed with TSC. TSC stands for Tuberous Sclerosis Complex which causes tumours to form on vital organs such as the brain, heart, lungs and eyes. There is no cure for TSC however research is helping to find new treatments to help people like Mila. Kathy, Mila’s mum has spoken about Mila’s plight and has set up a facebook page to raise awareness for Mila and TSC. Kathy tells how specialists have confirmed Mila has numerous tubers that sit on top of her brain like scars. These inoperable tubers block message pathways on the brain and cause her problems. Mila also has a SEGA (Subependymal giant cell astrocytoma) inside her brain which affects only 20% of patients with TSC. This can be life threatening if it grows, moves or blocks the important canals where it sits. Milas low heart rate is the result of a tumour blockage on one of her hearts valves. She is still at threat of serious lung problems, eye problems and skin problems in the future.
She is currently on medication to prevent seizures and this seems to be working at the moment however we have to change her medication soon as the side effects can be quite serious.

Mila's story so far

‘We are fighting for an important drug called Everolimus which is widely available internationally, however deemed too expensive for the NHS. An adult using this drug can cost up to £35,000 per annum for life but the benefits have been proven to be completely life changing. Recent trials have proved the drug shrinks 95% of brain tumours in children and also can prevent tumours developing on the kidneys, lungs and skin. New research has also shown that it has a beneficial effect by reversing potential learning/behavioural difficulties and preventing seizures. World top specialists in TSC based in Cincinnati, U.S.A have offered to see and treat Mila, however we would need to raise for the funds for this.
We face many uncertainties ahead as Mila copes with TSC. If there is any way you can show your support for us and help raise funds that we can use for Mila’s treatment (Everolimus drug), anything would be a help.
It means the world to us to make sure we do and fight for the best for our baby girl.’

Mila's story so far

If you would like to donate, you can find Mila’s Just Giving Page here. Keep up to date with Mila’s story on Facebook too.

I want to thank you all in advance for any donations xxx

You may remember that I started the Lighter Life Fast a few weeks ago in which I dieted for 2 days out of the 7. Commonly known as the 5:2 diet, on the two days of fasting, I ate around 600 calories and then ate normally, but healthily on the other five days.

In the last blog post I wrote, I introduced you to the meal plan that I was following. A range of delicious and nutritious meals that when eaten over the course of the day added up to just over 500 calories and I added side salads to increase the calories to approximately 600. 600 calories is a quarter of the recommended daily allowance that I need for my weight and height. At the last update, I had lost a total of 7lb.

As with all good intentions, life gets in the way and unfortunately due to the amount of time that I was spending in work, my Lighter Life Fast slipped by the kerbside. Although still eating as healthily as I could, I didn’t feel that when I was on my two days off from work that the Lighter Life Fast was appropriate. Its quite hard to explain to those who aren’t in my industry, but the combination of night flights and time zones make you feel fatigued and in desperate need for carbs and stodgy food. I love to have a post long takeaway to fill me up and let me have a good night sleep. On paper, it would be easy to do it on my days off, but the combination of jet lag and being awake for hours and need for energy, it just didn’t work. However, I persevered and finished off the full month supply, so I have done a total of 4 weeks on Lighter Life Fast, just not on consecutive weeks.

With the combination of the Lighter Life Fast, working my little socks off and eating healthily, the last time I weighed myself took me over the 1 stone mark. I can feel a difference in the way my clothes fit, I feel healthier in myself and also feel slightly more energetic than what I did a few months ago. I think that Lighter Life has definitely set me in good standing for making me watch what I eat and also portion control. I have found the recipe cards in my Lighter Life Fast boxes also to be exceptionally handy, so although I’m not practicing the 5:2 diet religiously, I am changing my eating habits to encourage myself to continue in my weight loss journey.

Overall, for anyone wanting to kick start their weight loss plan or to maintain their ongoing weight loss, I whole heartedly recommend Lighter Life Fast. For convenience, and tasty meals that can be made in minutes, the meal plans that are on offer are great value and great way to ease yourself into the 5:2 diet. Read my Lighter Life Story here.

Lighter Life Fast is exclusively available from Superdrug. Why not have a look on the Lighter Life Fast webpage at the success stories and read how others have got on.

First things first, I know that I am not a passenger and that my daily hand luggage liquids will differ from most peoples carry on liquids however I still have to comply with the security restrictions set by the airport. The general rule is that any liquid, gel or cream that you want to carry into the cabin must be 100ml or below. I get so many people asking what they can and can’t take through security and my answer is always the same. If you desperately need to have it in your possession during the flight, it must be 100ml or under, placed in a clear seal-able plastic bag. Anything else would be better off in your hold luggage. Yes, you can take a cheese sandwich on board, but no you will not be able to take 4 pints of milk that you have brought from home. Once you have cleared security, you can purchase anything that you require in the departure lounge shops, so your Venti Starbucks latte is perfectly ok to take on the aircraft.

In my work handbag, I have my day to day essentials that I will need to use in flight as well as as a few items that I may need in case of an unscheduled night-stop. I have a sturdy clear plastic bag that is used to hold my liquids, gels and creams and anything else gets chucked in my bag. The items that I carry that don’t need to put in a clear bag are my MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural in Medium Plus and my Chanel Le Beiges in 40. I also carry a comb and a powder brush too.

I picked up my plastic bag in Cuba, it was in the room with complimentary toiletries inside and has served me well over the years. I do have a back up and also have one with all my sun-creams inside. I do have a few bits in my bag that I don’t use as frequently however I will always carry them as you never know when they will come in handy!

I keep my Kiehls In Flight Refreshing Facial Mist and Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Hand Treatment at the top of my bag. These two wonder products are my most used and keep my face and hands feeling super hydrated throughout any flight. The hand cream really nourishes and protects your hands and you can still feel that the cream is on your hands even after washing them. It really is a god send. Soap & Glory A Great Kisser is also a staple item for when my lips get dried out. As I generally wear pink lipstick, the pink colour of the balm can be applied over existing lipstick to soften any dry patches. Hair bobbles and hair grips are also an essential to fix my hair or re position my bun back in place.

If you read my guide to a Long Lasting face, you would have read how I rarely top up my make up in work, except for a touch of powder and lipstick. I keep in my bag my favourite Urban Decay 24/7 duo eyeliner, my favourite end being the brown shade which I think is Whiskey. I also like to have a nail file for any snags. This one is from Healthy Nails and is a crystal file. Gimme Brow stays in my bag just for those unexpected night stops. As long as I can put on eyebrows, mascara and foundation, I can consider that to be enough face to get me through!

Unscheduled night stop make up includes Estee Lauder Double Wear. This sample isn’t my usual shade but as it is for emergencies only, it will do. I also have a sample size of Sumptuous Extreme mascara, my favourite Revlon Color Burst balm in Vivacious and a Lancome Juicy Tube in Strawberry. My Travelo contains Calvin Klein Eternity Summer, and if I am travelling on a long haul flight, I also take my full size bottle as it is 100ml.

Finally, I have my Soap & Glory Mist You Madly body spray, a perfect and fruity way to freshen up during a long day and my Soap & Glory Hand Maid antibacterial hand sanitiser. I must use one of these every fortnight, I think I am addicted!
