Treats for my Tresses -Luxury Haircare Treats

I’ve mentioned this so many times before but one of my biggest beauty chores is washing and drying my hair. It’s not so much washing the damn thing, it’s the length of time it takes afterwards to style it, dry it and maintain it. Having long hair means that I need to use products on it so it stops hanging so lank and limply. As I’m growing out my natural colour and it’s now a mixture of pure natural hair and semi dried out blonde, it needs some extra TLC so it’s in tip top condition. I’ve started treating my hair washing as a luxury treat to make it more bearable and once a week, I set aside some time to truly lavish some love onto my locks.

Once a week, I use the John Frieda Miraculous Recovery Shampoo and conditioner. I don’t like to use this every day as I find that it makes my hair too squeaky clean to rinse, but after use it leaves my hair unbelieveably soft and smooth with settles down any frizzy ends. The shampoo lathers up well and even with long hair, only a small amount is needed. I tend to use the conditioner sparingly as after my first condition, I like to slather my hair with the Salon Science Swiss Apple Cellutensive Masque.

The Swiss Apple collection by Salon Science has been raved about in the past and I find this range of haircare to be the most suited to my needs – repairing and protecting. I use the Swiss Apple shampoo and conditioner in between the John Frieda and my hair has never felt to be in such good condition. I like to leave the masque on for around 10 minutes for ultimate conditioning.

After towel drying my hair, I pump around four pumps of the Lee Stafford Ubuntu Oils Blow Dry Smoothee into the palm of my hand and distribute the cream evenly through my hair, from root to tip. In all my years of using blow dry creams, I have never found one that I have loved as much as this one. It makes my hair so soft and silky, that it looks like a blonde curtain. I’m so impressed and so glad that I picked this up as a spur of a moment impulse buy.

A product that is new to my haircare routine but one that is making a huge impact is the Color Wow Pop & Lock Crystallite Shellac. I was slightly dubious at first about this heavily glittered hair product but since using it, I’m thrilled with the results. It can be used on wet or dry hair, and I prefer to smooth it over my dried hair as it really does lock in the colour. The glitter within the product catches the light, making hair look super shiny and super glossy.

Finally, to give my blonde hair the finishing touch, a quick spritz of the Batiste Conditioning Mist spray smooths down any flyaway hairs, whilst the argan oil infused mist nourishes and conditions hair. I find that whenever my hair is looking slightly dull, a quick spray of the Batiste is all that is needed to pump up the blonde and make it look freshly washed.
