It feels like absolutely ages since I’ve treated myself to some products from Benefit, and this year has seen the launch of some very exciting goodies. As it’s summer, the makeup that I’m wearing is a lot lighter and I’ve been finding that I’m skipping foundation in exchange for a lighter base, whilst giving warmth to my face using a combination of bronzers and highlighting products with a touch of flush. As I haven’t been wearing a lot of makeup, it’s been quite nice to do the no makeup makeup look and I think I’ve found the ideal products to not only give a beautiful glow, but ones that are also great in the warmer weather. Of course, a good skin routine helps immensely to give a great blank canvas for minimal makeup and I must say that I’m actually over the moon for once with my skin. It’s so clear and looks really fresh, which is great for this weather. From Benefit Cosmetics, I’ve picked four products that you need in your makeup wardrobe.
Brand new this year, the Hoola family has expanded once again to bring us the Hoola Quickie Contour Stick. With the same shade that we love from Hoola, this bronzing stick is a cream to powder product that applies seamlessy on the skin without feeling at all greasy. It’s so easy to use, and although I don’t tend to contour that often, a quick swipe of the Hoola Quickie stick across my face gives a subtle yet sculpted look. If you’re confident in using cream products, it does double up as a cream bronzer and the soft bronze shade is gorgeous, as well as having a matte finish. It’s quite unusual how it does feel quite oil based when it’s first applied but it really does help with the blending before it sets in place. I love the shade of Hoola and it’s one of very few bronzers that shows up well on my skin. With the size of the product and its soft domed tip, it’s so easy and quick to swipe across your face to save time and effort from using a traditional cream contour product.
I’ve been setting my Hoola Quickie Contour Stick in place with my trusty Hoola. When swatching for my images, I have noticed that I’ve used quite a lot of my second personalised Hoola. I’m going to be so sad when it runs out as I love having the personalised box and brush. Good news is that the personalised Hoola is still available to get on the Benefit website. Happy Anoushka!
I’ve always wished I could carry off the Dandelion range from Benefit as the products in the collection; Dandelion, Shy Beam and Dandelion Dew are the prettiest pale pinks but they either don’t show up on my skin tone or look a bit chalky. It’s a sad state of affairs, I tell you. When I saw the Benefit Dandelion Twinkle pre release, I actually had a glimmer of hope. As it’s a nude pink highlighting powder, it would be absolutely ideal for my skin tone and I’ve found that it’s one of the most beautiful highlighting powders that I’ve owned. A baked powder, that goes on sheer to give a natural radiance, I find Dandelion Twinkle to be just enough for a no make up day. With the colour of my skin, it would be a lot more intense on paler skinned girls, but for my medium skin it’s just right for that subtle glow. I’ve also been using it for inner corner highlight which looks really pretty.
Finally, one of my new favourites for this summer, the Benefit Galifornia Blush. I am slightly addicted to Benefit Blush and I’m still in love with Benefit Rockateur as well as Benefit Majorette. The box is just stunning and I love the summer vibes that it brings. To bring even more of a summer vibe, upon opening the box you are greeted with a sunny golden pink blusher that looks like the warm California sun, and it smells absolutely amazing. I believe the scent is zesty pink grapefruit and vanilla and it’s like a little extra treat. I’m pretty much obsessed with it. The golden sheen on the top of the blusher does wear off after a few uses, but the golden shimmer throughout the blush is apparent yet subtle. The colour payoff is great, and it’s very pigmented so a little goes a long way. I like to build it up for a flushed pink cheek, and with the subtle gold running through it, I can use less highlighter or a more subtle glow such as Dandelion Twinkle. It’s probably one of my best purchases of the year so far.
Have you got any favourites for a summer glow? Which of these Benefit babes have you tried?
