Can you believe that we are in June already? This year is going way to fast and the weeks are flying by at the moment. Work is crazy busy and next month marks the start of the Summer holidays which means lots and lots of children on board my flights and I can imagine that feet are going to be sore from all that walking up and down aircraft aisles. I think I need to treat myself to some comfy yet stylish flats for those days when I’m not working. The June Birchbox is in association with French Sole, who have been around for a whopping £25 years, and also a brand that I have lusted after for many years. Have you seen the black and leopard Penelope ballet flats? Swoon!
The June Birchbox with French Sole is a really great box this month and features some really good products. First of all, the liquorice allsorts style patterned box is just gorgeous and hidden inside my box is a shoe bag featuring the same design. I use shoe bags for travelling so it is a welcome lifestyle extra. Shoe bag aren’t just for shoes, as I have been known to store a variety of items in them including my statement necklaces and make up palettes.
This months theme focusses on ‘Stepping Outside’ for the great British Summer that I am hoping will appear soon. The products in the box are designed for keeping you fresh faced and cool and I’m predicting that they will be on hand during the warmer months. A Birchbox exclusive comes in the form of Beauty Protector Protect and Detangle, £14 for full size. I haven’t tried anything from Beauty Protector in the past but I have heard some fab things. This is going straight into my long haul toiletries bag, as my hair is prone to getting knotty after playing in the pool.
A product that I am excited to use is the REN Keep Young and Beautiful Instant Firming Beauty Shot, £36 for full size. I love REN and this little skin plumper can be used underneath makeup for an instant skin boost or over make up for a daytime boost.
I love the names of the Cowshed products and the Knackered Cow body lotion just describes me perfectly at the moment. Soothing essential oils of lavender and eucalyptus relax and revive and it’s going to be my evening body lotion, ready to send me into a deep sleep.
Back in October I received the Pixi by Petra Shea Butter Lip Balm in Ripe Raspberry and I absolutely love it. It’s tinted and incredibly moisturising so I was delighted to see the Honey Nectar shade in this months box. It’s a pretty nude tint and makes lips look plump whilst keeping dryness at bay.
Now, not wanting to be negative but I don’t think anyone likes a perfume sample in a beauty box, especially when you are paying £12.95 for the privilege. You can easily pick up perfume samples in department stores and I have a Penhaligons stand in my local Harvey Nichols. The fragrance is Iris Prima; bergamot, Sandalwood and vanilla and is very elegant and sophisticated.
As a lifestyle extra, Birchbox have added STYLondon metallic temporary tattoos. I wish I had a load of midi rings, nice nails and slender hands so I could recreate those Pinterest inspired posts. Sadly, I don’t and I am 32 so without sounding like a grandma, they’re probably not going to get used. I will be passing them on to my younger, and trendier cousins.
Birchbox is a monthly subscription service where for £12.95 you can experience a minimum of five beauty products which can be a sample or full size product. If you subscribe to Birchbox through my referral link, you will also be credited with 50 points, which equates to £5 to spend in the Birchbox shop.
