It’s been quite sometime since I made that eventful trip to Sephora and came back with several of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders and Blushes. To be fair, they have been one of the more sensible make up purchases that I have made. Not only have I bought blushes in shades that I would wear daily but you really cannot go wrong with several pressed powders of various sheens and shades. I’m on my second Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette with its neutral Dim Light, glowy Incandescent Light and sunkissed Radiant Light powders and I just adore the naturally beautiful, soft focus finish that they leave on my skin. Since the launch of the Ambient Lighting powders, I seem to have created quite the collection.
The Ambient Lighting Strobe Palette upsets me a little, as it was a limited edition from a few Christmas’s ago. I was clever. I had two, which is why this one is brand new – yay! However, you can buy each blush in the palette in individual compacts. Featuring Iridescent Flash; a glowy pink, Brilliant Nude; a peachy gold, and Euphoric Fusion; a warm coral, these shades are so me it’s untrue. I like to use a blend of all three to make a custom cheek colour, but whilst I have a suntan, Brilliant Nude and Euphoric Fusion have been my go to shades.
The formulation of these powders are incredibly lightweight which I’m really into it at the moment, and as I’m also into layering products, they work well in giving me a flush of warmth without looking caked in makeup. There’s a depth to my skin when I use these light reflecting powders. They sculpt whilst blurring out skin. Pores look more refined, dry patches aren’t enhanced. You can see exactly why these powders are getting such good reviews and write ups.
My second Hourglass powder is the Ambient Lighting Bronzer in Luminous Bronze. This is such a subtle bronzer and it makes my skin look so perfect, it’s untrue. It’s so strange, because for all the years that I can remember, I have struggled to find a bronzer that shows up on my skin without looking muddy, and now I seem to have cracked the code and I am finding bronzers with ease that are great matches for my skin tone. I do think that I would like to give the Radiant Bronze a try as well as it seems to have the undertones that my skin needs.
One of my favourite blush shades to wear whilst I have a tan is a pretty baby pink shade. It compliments tanned skin beautifully and the pop of colour adds dimension without looking too severe. Ethereal Blush isn’t a shade that I would usually choose as it is very cool toned, but a change is as good as a rest and I’ve proven myself wrong by using a shade that is so flattering and not at all garish on my warm skin tone.
Hourglass have been a preferred brand of mine for so many years because of their innovation formulation and I’m so pleased to see that the brand have started to make it’s mark on the UK market. You can now find Hourglass in Space NK, Harvey Nichols and Selfridges. What have you tried from Hourglass that you can’t live without?
