Stila Aqua Glow Foundation and Concealer

Stila Aqua Glow Foundation and Concealer

Over the last few weeks, I’ve noticed that my skin needs a little extra helping hand when it comes to staying hydrated throughout the day. Although my skincare routine focuses on hydration, the colder weather is starting to take an effect on causing dry patches throughout the day. I’ve found that the one thing that really does work for me is a water based foundation, and it’s helping to stop those pesky dry areas that are causing me concern. I’ve been flitting between two foundations lately; the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea foundation and the new Stila Aqua Glow Serum foundation to give me a really light layer of base but with a great coverage.

The Stila Aqua Glow Serum foundation is nothing short of wonderful. I’ve been using the shade Medium Tan, which in the bottle looks quite deep toned but transfers onto the skin to match my skin tone incredibly well. When choosing my shade, I found that the medium shade, which I would have usually gone for was quite light for a medium toned shade, so I have chosen that shade for my concealer instead. Unlike other serum based foundations, the Stila Aqua Glow isn’t at all watery, and it buffs into the skin with ease, leaving a silky smooth yet quite bouncy feel. My skin feels like it drinks up the moisture and during the day whilst wearing it, it doesn’t cake or look greasy. In fact, my skin looks fresh and healthy with a lovely glow, due to the light reflecting particles. It gives a flawless finish instantly, whilst blurring out imperfections and fine lines. Even though it feels really light on the skin, the coverage of the foundation is a medium to full and one pump on a foundation brush is more than enough for my face, without it feeling heavy.

For an extra boost of light for my under eyes, the Stila Aqua Glow Serum Concealer has been doing the job. Luckily, I don’t have any blemishes to conceal so it has been used to minimise dark circles, and my god, have I needed to do that. Using the same formulation as the foundation, the concealer melts into the skin and finishes with a semi matte finish that I set with a touch of powder if needed. It doesn’t settle into fine lines due to its water based texture and makes light work of covering up the problem areas.

I’m having a bit of a love affair with Stila at the moment, as every time I use my foundation and concealer, I seem to be reaching for my Perfect Me, Perfect Hue palette to finish off my look with an autumnal smoky eye and fresh glowing blush. All I need now is a few new Stila Liquid Lipsticks, such as Patina and I’m good to go.

What’s your favourite foundation of the moment? Have you noticed a difference in your skin with this cold weather?
