So, back to the subject matter. Eyeliner. The ultimate way to define and enhance your beautiful eyes. Now as it is The Starting Off Project I’m going to stay focused on basic eyeliner application however, if you want to see a dramatic smokey eye created with eyeliner then please let me know.
Eyeliners can be found in various forms such as pencils, liquids, gels and powder. The easiest way to apply a natural looking liner is to use a pencil or an eye shadow with an angled brush to pack it into the lash line. A natural look is more beneficial as it helps enhance and beautify.
I may upset some people here by saying this but bad habits die hard so please don’t start! One thing I hate to see is an eye ringed with thick black liner. It looks so trashy and doesn’t enhance anything other than you have a thick black pencil ring around your eye. Also just lining the bottom of your eye and not the top, and wearing eyeliner on the waterline on a day to day basis is also one of my pet peeves. I love the look of a lined waterline, but only when I wear a dramatic smokey eye, generally on a night out. Constantly running a kohl pencil on your waterline can lead to infection, so save it for special occasions ladies!
I love to use an angled brush, like this one from MAC and either a brown or black shadow to create a soft and natural daytime look. I press the shadow into my lash line and build up the colour to the desired effect. Shadows can be used wet or dry for different effects and if applied correctly it will last all day. Perfect for school or work!
Eyeliner pencils are also a great and easy way to apply eyeliner. Due to the consistency and creaminess of the pencil, it may smudge and smear as the day goes on but I find that if you set your pencil liner with loose powder or pack eye shadow over the top it helps keep it in place. To apply, simply draw a line across your eyelid as near to the lash line as you can. You ca smudge the liner with a cotton bud or brush for a different look.
I’ve used a pencil liner for a natural look here and smudged my under eye liner with a cotton bud.
