The Starting Off Project *Week Nine* Lipsticks

Hey everyone! I missed last weeks post as I was away with work however I will write it up when I get time, so we can have a full collection! The penultimate week is about all things lips, and again this is another one of my favourite beauty products. I own close to 100 lipsticks and glosses and still can’t help myself from buying more.

My favourite brand is MAC however I aware that not everyone will be able to spend £15 on a lipstick. If you can invest though, please do as they are such long lasting, heavily pigmented lipsticks and are worth every single penny. Out of all my lipsticks, I’d say about 60 of them were MAC. A lot of them have been obtained through the Back to MAC scheme, where if you take six empty products back you can exchange these for a lipstick. A superb way to increase your collection.

Here are my favourite shades of the moment from MAC.

Impassioned is a lovely bright watermelon pink, and the amplified finish lets you build up the colour until it’s super show stopping.
Flat Out Fabulous is a new colour from the Retro Matte collection and will be part of the permanent line. It’s a deep fuschia and is perfect for winter.
RiRi Woo is a limited edition and again in matte. It’s a blue toned red and again will look fab in the winter.
Finally, Violetta is a beautiful magenta purple and is incredible when on. I love it and wish I had bought another couple as sadly, it’s a limited.

My two favourite drugstore lipsticks are the Kate Moss for Rimmel shade 16 which is a pale coral. It’s not my usual colour as I tend to go for brights, however it’s a lovely daytime lipstick without being too in your face.
Maybellines version of MAC Candy Yum-Yum is also a great price for those starting out. This super bright pink has the wow factor and stays on for ages! See my full review here.

I very rarely wear lip gloss without wearing lipstick but these three have become firm favourites of mine. The NARS Paris Folies is a sheer red coral that looks super glossy on. My full review can be found here. The other two glosses are both by MAC, the bright pink is a pro long wear gloss and can pass for a lipstick. It is so pigmented and thick, the opacity that it offers is amazing and gives a gorgeous finish. The Dazzleglass is great to wear on top of a lipstick for extra oomph but works just as well alone. It’s very glittery and sparkly.

It’s very easy to apply lipstick. You can apply it directly from the bullet or use a lip rush for a more subtle colour. I like to apply it directly as I like a brightly coloured pout. I very rarely wear lip liner however that’s entirely dependant on you. When applying your lipstick, stay within your lip line for a natural look. Please don’t ever line your lips in a dark liner with a lighter lipstick. This is bad! Also, take care around your Cupid’s bow, the trick s to enhance this area for kissable lips and always coat your entire lip, right into the corner of your mouth. There is nothing worse than unfinished lips. Think Miley Cyrus in the Wrecking Ball video. Bad make up!

If you have any question on lipstick, please don’t hesitate to ask and if you would like to see any swatches of my lipsticks, or a full breakdown of all my MACs, please let me know!

See you next week for the final part of The Starting Off Project, in which we will finish off with tools of the trade!
