I simply cannot tell you just how excited I was when these beauties dropped through my letter box the other day. A totally unexpected surprise as I didn’t realise that this brand new shade is being released and it is just the right timing for my Single Gals Valentines series. I have been having a love affair with Joan Collins Timeless Beauty and Fontaine and Evelyn are regularly taking the top spot in the lip wardrobe. Today we are going red with matching lips and tips. Oh Joan Collins Crystal Lips and Nails*, I love you!
I love a red lip but for some reason, I always go for my pinks. It’s only when I pick up and slick on a vivid swipe of red lipstick where I think wow, wear this colour more often. The Joan Collins Timeless Beauty range is such a sophisticated, glamorous range. The packaging is stunning, and very reminiscent of old school Hollywood glamour. The shades in the lips and nails range are all named after characters that Joan herself has played over the years. As Crystal hasn’t yet been released yet, the official blurb isn’t on the website so I am guessing the Crystal is named after Crystal Allen from The Opposite Sex.
Joan Collins Timeless Beauty Nail Lacquer in Crystal is contained in the signature diamond shaped bottle with its pointed lid. The lid is comes in really handy when painting your nails as you can get a better control over the polish. The brush is of a good width and fans out easily over the nail making application simple and easy. It dries fairly quickly and two coats give a beautiful opaque glossy finish. The colour dries into a clean deep red.
My favourite of the two if obviously the Crystal lipstick. You know what I am like with lipsticks, I just cannot help myself. Again, I must draw attention to the beautiful gold packaging with the JC imprinted lid. They really are so beautiful. The lipstick itself is a very clean, true red. It has a lovely creamy application with no pulling or dragging and has a fully opaque satin finish. I got around 3-4 hours of wear, with staining which I think is excellent for a red lipstick. I would use a lip liner with this colour for a more precise finish and to stop the colour bleeding. There was no discomfort when worn, and I love how it doesn’t cling to any dry patches.
Although Crystal is a new colour range and has yet to be released, it is a serious contender for your wishlist. I cannot speak highly enough about the full Joan Collins Timeless Beauty range and if you haven’t yet seen any of the cosmetics, have a look at the Joan Collins Timeless Beauty website. If you want to treat yourself, QVC has a small range at competitive prices. When released, the nail lacquer will be £13 and the lipstick £18. Mwah!
