Although it’s Mother Day on Sunday, I like to treat my Mum as often as I can throughout the year, and I don’t particularly feel the need to go all out on Mothering Sunday. Between my Sister and I, we make sure Mum is spoilt, but then again we do this frequently. I think I have issues with Mother’s Day, as I know so many people who have lost their parents and I can’t imagine how it feels for them. So, for Mother’s Day, I have put together some bits that I have picked out for my beautiful Mum for when she’s in need of a pick me up and a special treat. I’ve picked some delicate scents, pampering products and something special which I know my Mum would adore.
As a fragrance aficionado, I love nothing more than picking out new fragrances for my Mum. She does have her own signature scents but I do like to choose fragrances which she wouldn’t usually go for. I’ve been looking at the L’Occitane Eau de Cologne and there are so many to choose from, but I’ve found one that looks and smells incredible. Lavender Eau de Cologne reminds me of a good nights sleep, yet this scent conjures up the image of fresh summer days, with a sharpness of citrus that settles into a musky, woody base. Top notes of bergamot and grapefruit with heart notes of lavender and basil with base notes of patchouli and musk, it’s absolutely beautiful. Not only that but the bottle is huge and designed to be sprayed liberally.
A brand that I’ve only recently discovered – Pattiserie de Bain, came to my attention when I was browsing the aisles of Superdrug and I spotted some delicious sounded hand creams that were all scented like cake. Curiosity took the better of me and I took home a Cherry Pie hand cream which was good enough to eat. I had to stop myself from licking my hands. Seriously. With a selection of sweet treat inspired scents, the products include bath bombs, shower creams, body lotions and hand creams. My favourite scents include Sugared Violets and Strawberry Cupcake. Not only that but they are a really good price so you can afford to splash out.
Elizabeth Arden White Tea Eau de Toilette is an exquisite fragrance that basks in the simplicity of femininity and an uncomplicated life. Musky and woody, it sparkles with light citrus mandarin and a sea breeze, with a relaxing heart of White Tea and Turkish Rose before settling down into a Madras Wood, Ambrette Seed Absolute and tranquil musks. It’s such a clean and straight forward fragrance that really is very understated.
I can’t do a Mothers Day gift guide without featuring a product or two from Ted Baker, as it’s my guilty albeit expensive pleasure. Mum loves Ted Baker as much as I do, which is great because now we can share handbags. I spotted the Ted Baker Kit for a Queen in Boots and immediately fell in love. The toiletry bag on it’s own is amazing, but not only that, it’s filled with four full sized beauty products; a 300ml Body Shimmer Souffle, 150ml Body Spray, 200ml Body Wash and a Lip Balm. I’m in love. Would it be bad to keep it for myself?
As a special present, a piece of jewellery from Ted Baker at Amara would be simply perfect for my Mum. One of my favourite pieces is the Irinna Rose Gold Love Letter Necklace, which has since slipped into the sale since I got it. Rose gold is the colour of the moment and the love letter envelope can hold so many meanings depending on the recipient and who wears it. The quality of Ted Baker is superior and I do like how it doesn’t tarnish like other brands do.
Have you seen any gifts that you’d love to treat your Mum to? What are you doing on Mother’s Day?
