After what feels like a lifetime, the wait is over and the newest instalment in the MAC Viva Glam collection has finally landed on my doorstep. Its been months since MAC announced that the once Disney pop princess turned twerking tongue-baring Miley Cyrus was to be the face of the Viva Glam campaign. After Rihanna’s reign was to come to an end and leaving Viva Glam Rihanna 1 and 2 in retirement, a new face was to take over and I think Miley is a great spokesperson for the role. Love her or hate her, she gets tongues wagging and has created a colour that is just so beautiful that people will not be able to resist. The MAC Viva Glam Miley Cyrus campaign is kicking some butt already. Lets take a closer look.
The MAC Aids Fund benefits from the sale of each Viva Glam lipstick and the full RRP less VAT goes straight into the charity pot. With campaigns that have been fronted by Ru Paul, Pamela Anderson and Lady Gaga, it seems quite fitting to have Miley Cyrus lead the 2015 campaign. As with most Viva Glam campaigns, I’m sure that there will be a second colour coming later in the year before they both head to the Viva Glam hall of fame after 12 months. Over the years, I have managed to get a couple of the Viva Glam colours, as after all, it is for charity. What better way to know that you are making a difference and getting a fab new lippy in return.
MAC Viva Glam Miley Cyrus Lipstick is described as a hot pink amplified finish lipstick. Its quite a clean fuchsia pink with blue undertones that gives it a fresh look. It’s not a unique colour, and it reminds me of Something New which was from the Stylishly Yours collection from 2010. It’s not a bad thing as Something New is one of my absolute favourite limited edition colours. Wear time is actually really good on the Viva Glam Miley. I got around 5-6 hours of wear when worn without the Lipglass and it left a deep pink stain on my lips. The formula does seem slightly different to most Amplified colours that I own. It feels quite slippery on the lips which is great as it doesn’t drag or pull and it wears evenly. It’s also fully opaque with a lovely satin sheen finish.
The MAC Viva Glam Miley Cyrus Lipglass is absolutely gorgeous. It is described as a hot pink with sparkling pearl however I don’t see the pearlescent within the gloss, but more of a sparkly shimmer. It’s very sheer and looks fab worn alone and beautiful paired with the Viva Glam Miley Lipstick. It’s quite tacky and the formula is slightly different to other Lipglasses that I own. It’s a lot lighter than a Dazzleglass by way of glitter and the irridescent colours within it make it quite unique. When worn alone and on top of a lipstick I got around 3 hours of wear. Of course wearing a gloss over a lipstick reduces the wear time considerably but I don’t see this as an issue at all.
The MAC Viva Glam Miley Cyrus collection is available to buy online now and I believe that it will be in stores this week.
