Did you know that working at an airport can cost you a huge portion of your wages. It’s true. I blame World Duty Free for this as I cannot help myself and when I walk through the terminal I get tempted so easily by the beautiful travel exclusives they have. I work out of Terminal One at Manchester Airport and I can’t tell you just how amazing the shopping selection is. Back in November I attended the Biza Jet Set Beauty event and had a great time exploring the World Duty Free selection without having to rush off to catch an aircraft to somewhere exotic. Whilst I was there, I caught sight of the most beautiful travel exclusive, the YSL Extremely Versatile Lip Palette*. I think the pink case caught my eye first and then I saw the eight shades inside. I’m officially in lipstick heaven.
I’ve been trying to find out what the lipsticks within the palette are but I can’t seem to find anything that gives me a colour list or which type of lipstick they are. The YSL website calls the shades couture blends, and when I have tried to match them to my existing shades, I find that they are similar but not the same. So, for a lipstick addict like myself, it’s great as I don’t already own a single shade from the palette. Yay. I’ve also decided that they have to be Rouge Volupté and Rouge Volupté Shine as the formula, texture, finish and scent is the same.
The palette consists of four nude to pale pink shades and four bright to deep shades. The first four shades are quite sheer which leads me to believe that they are Rouge Volupté Shine. The first two shades are very pale and just about show up on my lips. I was expecting this to happen as I do have reasonably red lips naturally. The third and fourth shade, although sheer on the swatch look quite lovely on the lip.
The second half of the palette is my favourite as I love a bright lip. Ten bonus points if you can guess which colour I’m drawn to the most! The formula of these shades have a bit more substance so I believe they are the Rouge Voluptés. The swatches on my fingers are bright and deep, and the colours transfer onto the lips in the same way.
As with all YSL lipsticks, the quality is second to non. Longevity is of a decent time, around 5 hours for the Rouge Voluptés with staining and around 4 for the Rouge Volupté Shine. They aren’t hydrating but they are moisturising and not drying at all. As the colours aren’t in a tube, application is so much easier with a brush for precision shaping of the lip. Inside the palette is a reasonably sized mirror that allows for on the go application.
If you’re getting chance to get away this year and need ideas on what to spend your holiday money on, then I will recommend this gorgeous YSL Extremely Versatile Lip Palette to you with no deliberation. For £48.40 for eight shades, compared to £26 for just one shade, it’s such a great way to have a selection of colours on your holiday or if like me, I use mine for my long haul trips to cut down on my luggage. Perfect.
