For a makeup addict like myself, it takes a lot for a product to not only become a cult favourite but for it to end up on my repurchase list. There are very few products that I continually repurchase and that is down to the sheer amount of product that I work my way through each week. Having been introduced to the Trish McEvoy brand earlier this year, I have been obsessed with so many of the items that I have been using that it has taken me an age to get round to photographing it, and talking about it. Each time I have sat down to try and take my photos, I’ve realised that I don’t have the full collection in one place; my planner is in disarray, my brow pencil in my handbag and my lipstick is on my desk at work. I have finally managed to put everything in one place and I wanted to share with you my Trish McEvoy Beauty Planner. My kit that is ready for action at any given moment, and that holds everything I could ever need for my face. Warning – this post is picture heavy!
An afternoon spent with Harpreet; the business manager for Trish McEvoy at Harvey Nichols in Manchester got me set up with everything that I possibly needed to start on my Trish McEvoy journey. Starting with the iconic The Power of Makeup Medium Planner, the aim was to fill it with every item that I needed. I love my planner. Sleek and sophisticated, it holds everything that I need and keeps the contents secure for either carrying it around day to day or ready for a weekend away. With a large pocket, 4 brush pockets and a removable mesh pouch,it can also hold up to three makeup pages. A black quilted exterior and beige suede interior, it looks so luxe that I feel bad for putting non Trish products inside.
The Makeup Wardobe pages are so clever. Magnetic, with a small interior mirror, they hold they single face and eye powders securely. Inside mine, the Trish McEvoy Blush in Natural, the Trish McEvoy Weekend Bronzer and the Trish McEvoy Translucent Finishing Powder. Finely milled powders, with intense pigments, they work so well on the skin. The bronzer in particular is one of my favourites as it gives that warm glow of sun-kissed skin without looking muddy or orange.
The Trish McEvoy Light and Lift Eye Palette 2 is a limited edition from this summer, which is showing out of stock on the HN website, however I must say that this 9 pan palette has everything that you need inside. 4 standard eye shadows, 2 glaze eye shadows, 2 eye definers and a cream eye definer in a range of subtle yet wearable and buildable shades. The quality of the powders is exceptional and as you can see from the swatches, even the lightest shades pack a punch on my skin tone.
One of the products that has been repurchased already is the Precision Brow Pencil. It is marvellous. The waxy pencil grips onto my hairs of my brow, making them look fuller and thicker, whilst defining the arch. It’s like it adheres to the existing brow hairs and it does not budge throughout the day. I also love the Intense Gel Eyeliner pencil because it glides on without dragging and sets in place without smudging and budging. It’s a perfect waterline liner, intense black and waterproof. I can’t help but compare every liquid liner to my old favourite Kat Von D Tattoo Liner, but the Trish McEvoy Lash Enhancing Liquid Liner Pen comes pretty close. It is super black and really easy to apply however as it is getting nearer to the end of it’s life, the nib isn’t as smooth as it once was. I’m so fussy with mascaras and I love a lash lengthening mascara that volumises as it lengthens. The Lash Curling Mascara is a really good all rounder mascara that gives lashes a really curled and doll like effect. Although it doesn’t pack enough punch for me in terms of length, the curl is pretty good and it’s a true carbon black mascara.
Skin prep is very important to me in terms of priming, concealing and illuminating so these three items are definite keepers in my eyes. The Trish McEvoy Eye Base Essentials is not only an eye primer before shadow but it brightens the upper eye and gives an even coverage and corrects darkness and discoloration. Quite possibly one of the best under eye concealers that I have ever used has to be the Instant Eye Lift. In a salmon pink toned shade, it literally gives my under eyes a new lease of life, making me look wide awake and bright eyed. It has taken a long long time for me to find a product that works like Touche Eclat, but has a shade that doesn’t look too chalky on my skintone. The Trish McEvoy Luminizer is just spot on for me. It’s sheer, radiance boosting and helps sculpt the face with a beautiful champagne pink toned shimmer and I just love it.
When it comes to foundation and bases, I think this is where Trish McEvoy have absolutely nailed it. I don’t think I’ve ever been so enamoured with a tinted moisturiser in my entire life. I am a foundation wearer and it doesn’t matter how sheer it is, I never leave the house wearing a tinted moisturiser. Until now. The Trish McEvoy Beauty Booster Tinted Moisturiser in Shade 2 is my Holy Grail of lightweight bases, so much so that I have been wearing it to work, which never happens. I find it to be moisturising, naturally, but the coverage is unbelievable – so much so that I feel that I am wearing a foundation but with that radiant natural glow that comes from just moisturised skin.
The Trish McEvoy Even Skin Water Foundation has also earnt a special place in my heart. First of all, I don’t to use a primer with it, secondly it blurs my skin into a gorgeous soft focus, and thirdly it keeps my skin so hydrated that I don’t get any kind of cakiness even though it has a matte finish. Basically, it’s a winner. Medium 2 is my shade, and it’s absolutely spot on considering the shade range is quite limited. I’m happy, very happy. So much so, that I’m nearly all out of it.
A makeup look will never be complete without a polished lip so the Trish McEvoy Barely There Long Wear Lip Liner combined with the Trish McEvoy Liquid Lip Colour in Nude gives the most natural, full looking pout that lasts such a long time, and that doesn’t cling to the dry patches on my lips.
Finally, to complete my Trish journey, the Trish McEvoy book ‘The Makeup of a Confident Woman’ is a fantastic read for makeup lovers. Whether you’re a beginner, or looking for more tips and tricks to enhance your natural beauty, this book is the one for you. I have been totally blown away by the quality, longevity and performance of so many of my Trish products that I am a convert to this incredible brand.
Thank you to Harpreet for giving me an afternoon pamper and helping me build my Trish planner.
