Ah girls, I have had the best birthday ever. I’ve had amazing presents from my family (Chanel, Kiehls, YSL, Leighton Denny to name a few) but my the best present by far has been my day at The House of Make Up in Manchester to do a 6 hour course on make up application.
The regular readers of my blog will know just how desperate I am to train as a make up artist. Its been a pipe dream for as long as I can remember but I’ve always had things get in the way. I’ve been trying to get myself on a course but finding that the cost of the course is more than my mortgage for the year. Ouch! So, last night when I put a pleading status onto my facebook asking where I could do a make up course, imagine my surprise and amazement when I saw that the House of Makeup had a cancellation for today! Fate? I think so!
The House of Make Up is situated on Bridge Street in Manchester, near Spinningfields. For those of you in the Manchester area, I would suggest that you go and pop in at the earliest opportunity. From make up to nails, you can get primped, preened and party perfect. As well as doing training masterclasses, make up applications are available as well as HD Brows and a nail bar.
Make up Masterclasses are ran on a frequent basis, from the one night class to a 4 day course. I took part in the one day course in which I learnt techniques for applying daytime and nighttime make up.
The day was split into two sections, the morning focused on day time make up and after lunch we studied night time make up. Natalie and Lyndsay went over various techniques in order to apply a subtle but gorgeous daytime and a super sexy smoky evening look.
Here are the looks that I created today.
I’ve absolutely loved every minute of today and have taken away some very valuable advice in order to create beautiful make up looks. Practice makes perfect and I will be practicing on everybody until I’m good enough! I’ve also taken away a lengthy shopping wishlist, so it looks like beans on toast for the remainder of the month!
