It’s the 30th birthday of Burt’s Bees, the company that offers natural health and beauty products that contain no nasties and aren’t tested on animals. The story of Burt’s Bee takes you back to the early 80’s, 1984 to be exact. A chance meeting between Burt and Roxanne, the owners of Burt’s Bees, some leftover beeswax and an old beekeepers almanac led to a very successful business that is sold around the world. Some of the most favourite products have been being sold since back in the late eighties and early nineties. As well as being an ethical and sustainable company, your skin is their first priority with over 170 products being 99% natural and over 50% being 100% natural. So, to say Happy Birthday Burt’s Bees, I’m bring to you a selection of my favourite Burt’s Bees products that are used frequently in my health and beauty routines.
As a huge lover of lipstick, my lips need to be in tip top condition at all times. Whether I’m wearing a dry matte lipstick or having a natural tinted gloss day, Burt’s Bees have many products that suit my needs. The hydrating Lip Balm with Coconut and Pear, £3.69 is a tropical twist on an old classic whilst the Honey Lip Balm, £3.69 leaves my lips feeling super soft and sweet. For those days of no make up, I like to use my Tinted Lip Balm in Blush Orchid, £5.99 for a flush of colour. The Apricot Lip Shimmer, £5.99 tastes like peppermint and really nourishes my lips whilst Wink Lip Shine, £6.99 gives an amazing glossy shine either worn alone or over my favourite pink lipstick. Summer Twilight Lip Gloss, £8.99 is an amazing lip gloss that not only looks great on, but leaves lips feeling hydrated and none sticky.
To keep me looking young and youthful, I use the Sensitive Eye Cream, £14.99, both morning and night. A tiny amount of cream softens the eye area without causing redness or irritation and the tube has a handy applicator to make sure that the right amount is applied without dragging or pulling on the sensitive eye area. After my daily showers, Naturally Nourishing Milk and Honey Body Lotion, £9.99 is absorbed in my skin leaving it feel soft and smooth for up to 24 hours. It also smells absolutely divine and good enough to eat.
I have to take extra special care of my hands. With working as cabin crew, there is a lot of manual jobs that I need to do and this involves pushing and pulling those heavy carts and lifting metal cannisters. To avoid callouses and to combat the drying effects of the aircraft air, I use some of Burt’s Bee classic hand care products. Whenever I do a fresh manicure, I finish off the process with the Shea Butter Hand Repair Cream, £7.99. The cream is super rich so I tend to save it for a weekly or twice weekly treat and it is so luxurious and buttery. I’ve noticed such a difference in my hands since using it. Throughout the week, I like to use the Honey and Grapeseed Hand Cream, from the Burt’s Bees Basics Honey Gift Set, £5.99. To keep my cuticles in order, my absolute favourite product is the Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream, £5.99. Not only does it leaves my hands feeling and smelling citrusy clean but my cuticles have been so much easier to manage. Its definitely a classic for a reason.
