Oh hair. I don’t know what is going on right now, but I cannot do anything with my hair at all. It’s grown and I’m not sure on the cut as it’s not doing what I want it to do. I’m having to wash it more frequently and where the length is at the moment, is just where my natural curl in my hair is, so I’m getting a little kink on one side of my head. Not the sleek and sophisticated style that its supposed to be. I’m looking at old photographs of my short short hair, and I’m totally thinking about going as short as I possibly can, because I loved it then, and I think it’s what it needs. One of the biggest launches in the beauty world as of late is the new offering from Redken. It’s a bit of a mouthful, and the Redken Pillow Proof Blow Dry Express Treatment Primer has had so many good write ups that I couldn’t wait to try it.
I held off from reviewing this hot pink packaged treatment that promised to strengthen hair, reduce blow drying time, give extra volume and help with manageability. It’s a lot to pack into one hair primer, so I sat and waited patiently for the reviews to come flooding in, before I shared my thoughts. Almost every single review I read was that of positivity and praise for the primer, so I was expecting some amazing things.
One of the main points of the primer states that it helps coarse and thick hair to become a lot more manageable, and as I have quite fine hair, but a hella lot of hair, I was hoping that it wasn’t to weighty in my hair. The first time I used it, I definitely used too much, as I have a habit of doing. The pump applicator gives a perfect sized amount of product but my hair was really short at the time, so it was a tad too much. The result was greasy feeling hair, and I didn’t notice that my hair dried any quicker, as I didn’t have that much to dry. It felt like there was an excess of product in my hair and I needed to wash it a lot sooner than usual.
Persevering, I have chosen to use half the amount that the pump dispenses and rubbed it between my hands before distributing it through the ends of my hair and avoiding the root. Quite difficult with a concave bob cut, but I’m pleased to say that after a few attempts, it actually does my hair some good. Drying is still relatively speedy with the lack of hair but now I have noticed that my style is holding a lot better. I have to really work on the left side of my hair with the natural kink, but once I’ve blown it, it’s staying straight.
For my hair, I have been washing and drying it before I go to bed as sleeping on my style seems to do it more good. The volume is definitely there and it looks and feels a lot bouncier as well as feeling sleek and smoothed down. I’ve been incredibly impressed so far with the results and I now that I’ve worked out the best amount of product for my hair, I am really pleased with the primer.
I’d be really interested to try further products from the range, and now my hair is getting slightly longer and a bit more unmanageable, it’s helping with keeping wayward ends in place. I’ve always been a fan of Redken, so the new range is definitely worth checking out.
