One of the most memorable fragrances that I had when I was in my late teens/early twenties had to be the classic Ghost fragrance. I remember an old friend giving me a bottle for a gift, and I wore it all of the time when I went out clubbing. It’s funny just how many memories a scent can evoke and when although I cannot bear the overly sweet rose notes of the original Ghost fragrance, I am really enjoying two different Ghost fragrances at the moment; Ghost Sweetheart Forever and Ghost Whitelight Diamond Dust from The Perfume Shop.
Ghost Sweetheart Forever is one of the many variations of the original Ghost, but has a new updated feel and look for 2017. Still with the same rose notes at the heart, I find Ghost Sweetheart Forever to be a lot less artificial but warmer and more subtle. Top notes of cassis, orange and litchi make the scent a more zesty and fresh fragrance before the heart of rose and white flowers appear. It dries down to a woody, oriental blend which makes it a lot more seductive and rich rather than sacharine sweet. For a day time fragrance, that is ideal to keep in your handbag or at your desk, it’s got a great price point especially for a 50ml bottle.
I came across Ghost Whitelight Diamond Dust whilst in The Perfume Shop in the Trafford Centre. Not usually one to go for such a floral based fragrance, I smelt Ghost Whitelight and I really loved how it smelt on me. The Diamond Dust inside the fragrance is something quite special, as when it’s sprayed onto the skin, it leaves a very subtle shimmer and sparkle – perfect for the festive season. The fragrances opens up with peach, mandarin and pear and the fruitiness makes it sparkle on the skin. Heart notes of jasmine, violet and rose develop, which takes away the fruitiness and replaces it with a slightly soapy floral blend that’s light and fresh before the warming patchouli, vanilla and amber come to the surface. The soapiness subsides and the amber and vanilla works with my chemistry to create a really mesmerising scent.
I’m a bit obsessed with perfume, as you know, and I do find it to be quite refreshing to find fragrance that is on the lower end of the price scale that has a good longevity and a great scent. Ghost fragrances remind me of Escada fragrances – the perfect daytime handbag perfume that you don’t mind over using and wearing all of the time as it’s not going to break the bank to replace it!
