As a blogger who changes her ‘theme’ on a monthly basis, I cannot tell you how happy I am that I can bring my summer theme to the blog. With my website issues over the last month, it has really set me back in the content that I was going to show you, but finally, I am now in a position to explode with summery vibes and tropical thoughts. What better item to introduce my new summery theme than the gorgeous scent of the summer – CK One Summer.
CK One goes way back, and I remember the original being introduced to the fragrance market way back in 1994. I was just 11 years old on it’s release and starting my first year at High School. A modern concept when it was released, it was marketed to be a shared fragrance rather than the traditional unisex. The fresh aquatic fragrance took over from the likes of Davidoff Cool Waters which was the go-to fragrance for most young people that decade, and it’s popularity has made CK One become a stalwart of fragrances. Keeping up with modern times, CK One have released a limited edition scent each year for the past few years, and although I haven’t had the urge the buy any of those, the release of CK One Summer 2016 had me diving for my credit card, as I needed it.
The flacon of CK One Summer remains true to the original with its shape and also with the bottle cap and additional spray lid for the ladies. This years design brings CK One Summer into the jungle. Bright glass greens and splashes of electric blue with the addition of the tropical inspired palm tree leaf adorning the bottle and box gives it an exotic feel, like an adventure through an equatorial maze.
Again, in a nod to the original scent, CK One Summer retains it’s fresh, citrusy aquatic vibe yet the addition of mojito based tones makes its a sparkling tonic. The lime mojito is brought to life with top notes of lemon, ginger and green apple. The heart gives way to Tahitian Tiare flower, guava and juniper before settling down into a heady musky jungle like warmth of cedar, moss and coconut milk.
CK One Summer Eau De Toilette is a holiday in a bottle. I adore the masculine base notes, where they come out slightly peppery when in touch my body, but still with the light burst of citrus dancing across the skin. It’s like the definitive scent of the summer, and I have been really enjoying wearing this, especially for work where I am travelling to exotic locations. At £28.99 from Fragrance Direct for 100ml, it’s probably one of the most affordable fragrances out there right now.
