The brow. Two, or in some cases one, strips of hair that hold so much power over your face. After plucking my brows into oblivion in the early 00’s, it soon came to light that these strips of hair weren’t a hindrance, but more of a help to balance out my features and to frame my face. It’s taken a lot of time, a lot of growing and a lot of tears and tantrums to get my brows into the shape that I wanted them to be. Even over the last few years, I have noticed how my dark brown, high arch power brow has slowly settled into a more natural arched, darker blonde affair. Being a tad brow obsessed, I spend a lot of time and a lot of money on keeping them groomed and in shape, and I couldn’t have done this without the help of the wonderful team at Benefit. For the last few years, I have been getting my brows shaped and tinted at Benefit, and have found a wonderful brow technician who knows exactly what I want for my arches. AT the end of June, Benefit released their brand new Benefit Brow collection; nine products including some re-formulated old favourites and several new items to help transform your ow brows into wow brows.
Cult favourite and award winning brow fibre gel Gimme Brow has been repackaged and extended into a three shade range. Shade 1 – light, shade 3 – medium and shade 5- dark will match every brow shade. This revolutionary product has won awards for a reason. The brush on fibres not only stay in place all day without fall out, but they fill brows and grip onto existing hairs to make brows look fuller with ease. I’ve been a huge fan of Gimme Brow since it’s launch two years ago and I’m so pleased that I can have an even better match with the new shades. Water resistant, buildable and so easy to use, the custom tapered brush makes light work of filling in sparse areas.
New on the scene is the Goof Proof Brow Pencil. Available in 6 shades, I’ve been using shade 2, a light taupe shade that fits beautifully with my brow colour. Similar to the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer, the triangular tip fills in brows smoothly whilst the pointed end helps define. I find Goof Proof to be a pencil for when you have full brows, as the thickness of the pencil makes it harder to control on sparser areas. With a spoolie on the end, a build up of product can be brushed through for a natural look.
My favourite pencil from the collection is the Precisely, My Brow Pencil. The ultra fine tips draws on with light feathery strokes. It’s perfect for a quick touch up and to draw in perfect arches before using another product from the collection to fill in for a more defined look, or it can be used alone for a more natural look. The wax pencil is smudge proof and I find I can create the best shape using Precisely, My Brow.
Before bed, I have been taking an extra few seconds in my evening routine to apply Browvo! It’s a conditioning primer with a custom rubber brush tip that contains keratin and soy proteins within the gel formula to keep hairs feeling healthy. I have noticed that over time that my brows seem a lot softer which makes product easier to apply, and they look thicker and fuller. It’s definitely a Browvo! product.
The iconic Brow Zings has again been repackaged into a gorgeous silver compact, without compromising on the quality of the product. Brow Zings has been one of those products that I have owned numerous times over the years. Now in six shades, I have been using shade 2, a light taupe. The compact is exactly the same as before with a powder, a wax, a dual ended brush and the cutest pair of mini tweezers. The wax is pigmented to match brows, and ran through before filling in brows with powder. The wax sets the powder in place all day, with no movement and my arches stay on point for a good 12 hours.
My second favourite product from the new collection has to be Ka-Brow. It’s absolutely wonderful and it has replaced my Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow without a second thought. With the brush built into the lid, it’s great for my travels. The cream gel fills in brows so easily and makes sculpting and defining brows so simple. The brush is angled to work the product through, and the smallest amount is needed. Whether its applied lightly or as a full on dramatic look, it has changed my life.
Ready, Set, Brow! is a brand new product that has come in so handy recently. An invisible gel that shapes and sets, it can be used alone or over existing product to keep brows in control. The brush is like a mascara brush, small bristles and a precision tip and I find that after using Ka-Brow, I used Ready, Set, Brow! on the tails of my brow for a sleeker look.
Another new product that I am loving is the 3D-Browtones, a highlighting gel that has been giving my brows an little tzuj each day. The subtle highlight give a contrast to an otherwise flat coloured brow, and it’s almost like a mini hair mascara to apply. Shade 2 gives a light golden tone to my brows and although I use it to finish off my brows, it can be used on its own. The custom tip has been created for easy application and the pointed tip helps to fill in the narrow part of the brow, as well as defining and perfecting the overall look.
Reformulated and repackaged, two classic products have had their existing formula made even more creamier and easier to blend. High Brow is a linen pink with a matte finish and High Brow Glow is a champagne pink shimmer for highlighting under the brow bone. I also love to use High Brow Glow as my inner corner highlight as the colour is so pretty. I’m so glad they have been reformulated, especially as the original High Brow was slightly chalky on my skin and the new version is so much easier to work with.
Well, over 1000 words on brows, so well done if you managed to stick with it all the way through. Have you tried any of the new brow collection? What are your thoughts? Have you any stand out products? I would definitely recommend you to buy Precisely My Brow and Ka-Brow if you haven’t yet decided. You can see all the products and shades at the Benefit counters or take a look online.
