Clashing Colours for Summer: OPI Koala Bear-y and Hot & Spicy

Summer is on its way! Yippee! It makes me happy when the mornings are getting lighter and the evening are staying lighter, and I don’t have to turn my central heating on for the next few months. Oh, it’s just perfect. As the warmer days are coming nearer, it’s time to start brightening up the colour palette for my tootsies and nails, and I have my perfect colour clashing combo right here to show you. I never ever have a matching mani-pedi. I love to have a clashing combination, but one that works so well.

OPI Koala Bear-y and Hot & Spicy

OPI Koala Bear-y and Hot & Spicy are two of my favourite shades that OPI have released, and although they are both quite old in terms of the years they were released, they have been repurchased and hold a special place in my heart.

OPI Koala Bear-y and Hot & Spicy

Koala Bear-y was part of the OPI Australian Collection which came out way back in 2007. I had a bit of a bad habit of buying most colours from each collection every time I went to Florida as they are only $8.50 compared to the £11 over in the UK. I had to stop when I was nearing 100s of OPIs and just couldn’t justify it anymore. Koala Bear-y is a rich deep magenta creme with a high gloss finish.

OPI Koala Bear-y and Hot & Spicy

Hot & Spicy is more recent and arrived in 2010 in the Hong Kong Collection. I spotted this colour in a preview and was dreaming about it until I purchased it. I also got Red My Fortune Cookie and Dim Sum Plum from this collection too. Oops. Hot & Spicy is a bright orange coral creme polish with a gloss finish.

When doing my mani-pedi, I like to wear Hot & Spicy on my nails and Koala Bear-y on my toes, but I have recently been playing around with an accent nail using Hot & Spicy and a manicure using Koala Bear-y. They look so summery together and as they are a lacquer as opposed to traditional nail polishes, the wear time is just incredible. Even with work, I find that the OPIs tend not to chip and can get a longer wear time from them. I also find that they set harder than other brands, giving a lacquered finish.

Have you tried the fabulous OPI app where you can try on any of the nail lacquers that OPI make?
OPI Koala Bear-y and Hot & Spicy are available on Lena White from £11.50. I have definitely seen them in miniature form in the OPI Exotic Travel set though.
