Bye Bye Blonde, Hello Brunette

Over the years, I’ve put my hair through several different styles, cuts and finishes and have no qualms about cutting 22 inch long hair off into a short bob. Back in 2011, I was sporting a Frankie Sanford from The Saturdays style crop in the whitest blonde shade possible. In the last 18 months, after getting my hair to a reasonable long length, I decided to grow out my natural colour, mainly out of curiosity, to see what colour it actually was. A medium ash blonde on the root, and quite a light blonde throughout, I had created a natural ombré look which I quite liked. As the indecisiveness about what to done next grew, I was debating whether to cut if off again or have a totally different colour. For the first time in more years than I care to remember, I took the plunge and have changed my blonde locks for s9mething completely different.

I visited Hair Couture, based in Unsworth, Bury. Decorated in a French Antique style, with French armouries filled with high end hair care products and Baroque framed mirrors leant against the wall, it’s a very relaxing place to be. To me, a good salon is one that keeps the brews coming whilst you wait for your colour to develop, and one that makes you leave knowing that you look a million dollars. The stylist, Matt, sat with me whilst we discussed what kind of look we were going for and advised what colours would work best with my skin tone and taking into account my over processed, white blonde ends.

As my hair is so long, it took a long time to out the colour on, but there was no rushing, and each highlighted section was meticulously done. Whilst my hair developed, I browsed the latest magazines with a good cup of tea until it was time for a rinse and head massage before a toner was placed onto the highlighted sections.

I had about 5 inches cut off the ends of my hair, and although it sounds like a lot, I don’t actually feel like a lot has been taken off. We decided to mix things up and go for a slightly off centre parting with quite a ‘Real Housewives of Cheshire’ bouncy blown style. Although it isn’t brilliant for me to blow myself, it has been easier to put it up for work and I have managed to sneak in two professional blow dries since, so I’ve only washed my hair twice myself since it’s been done.

I am absolutely loving my big change and it’s made me feel like a different person. My hair feels so glossy and smooth, and it looks healthy and full of life rather than over processed rats ends. It’s been nice to change up my make up and wear darker colours that I couldn’t or wouldn’t usually wear. I’m so pleased with the outcome.

Hair Couture are offering all my readers who can visit the salon 20% off their next visit by quoting Anoushka Loves. It’s a great time of year to get your hair done in time for Christmas, or even have a restyle for winter. Find Hair Couture on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram or call on 0161 796 7774

Oh wow, I love your new hair! I envy you being able to make this change as my hair dye allergies mean my choices are very limited. What a pretty looking salon and they did an amazing job. x
