Blogmas Day 17: Products to Prevent Blemishes

As we start getting closer to Christmas, the festive period starts to take a bit of a toll on my skin. I’ve been eating a lot of rubbish lately. It’s acceptable to have chocolate for breakfast and mince pies are everywhere you turn. If like me, you’ve been out socialising at Christmas parties and burning the candle at both ends, then this post will be one for you. To ensure that my skin is blemish free and to keep spots at bay, I have three products that will help your skin become beautiful and glowing, just in time for Christmas Day.

I was really dubious yet very curious when Style Lux offered to send me the Blackhead Killer*. It’s quite an expensive product at £14.95 for five sachets however you could probably get two uses from each pack as long as you could seal it up well enough. The Blackhead Killer is a mask that promises to peel your pimples away. As someone who suffers with a congested nose, I thought these would be right up my street. The mask is a black gel like substance that is smoothed over the face or a specific area and left to set. I leave the mask as long as possible to set, as it can be quite messy beforehand. I absolutely love peeling it off. I’m a bit sick like that I think. It reminds me of bin bag when it has been peeled off, it is so weird but my gosh it really leaves your skin glowing. It unclogs my nose and removes excess oils and is great for a quick pick me up, or mid week treat. I find it quite therapeutic and look forward to peeling it off my face.

Don’t you hate it when you can feel a spot forming and you know that it won’t just be a little pimple but a full blown Mount Vesuvius-esque, so large it has it’s own eyebrows kinda spot. We’ve all been there. Dream Dots* are a nifty little solution that actually work. It’s taken such a long time for me to get round to using them as it was sod’s law that I have totally spot free skin. I’ve never wanted spots, but I really wanted to try Dream Dots out, as I had heard so many good things. They are really easy to use. After cleansing your skin before bedtime, pop a Dream Dot over the affected area and let it work its magic. Now, I can’t tell you the science behind it in just a few words but it is explained here. A larger spot may need two treatments but those smaller ones have disappeared overnight. Perfect.

Finally, and quite possibly my favourite treatment to not only prevent blemishes, but to sooth and calm my skin and make me feel all wonderful is the Aromatherapy Associates Soothing Treatment Mask. It’s definitely a treat at £53 but to me, it is worth every penny. After flying and when my skin become parched and dry, I use this as an overnight mask for intensive hydration. For a calming treatment, I use after cleansing and apply as a mask for around 20 minutes, then rinse off and follow my usual regime. My skin is left feeling smooth, fresh and radiant. It’s also a great spot treatment when applied directly to the problem area. I can’t praise it enough.
