Winter seems to be a time where all the beauty bloggers in the land break out their berry toned lipsticks and rock these darker colours with aplomb. Myself? Well, I can’t steer away from the bright pinks. I do love a berry coloured lip, but as I don’t wear them often, I find myself sticking to my usual favourites. I have had a rummage through my lipstick collection and out of over 100 lipsticks, I have found five products that fit into the berry lipsticks genre. Five. I’m slightly disappointed in myself for not having 20 berry lipsticks that I rarely wear.
The first is the newest one to my collection and it’s the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Love Liberty. It is more of a deep wild rose colour than a berry tone. Think red wine stained lips. The matte revolution formula is pretty spectacular and my lord, it stays on your lips. Even when trying to make a lip print, it was so difficult to transfer from lip to paper.
Vamp lip gloss by Push Cosmetics is a gorgeous deep plummy purple. Opaque enough to be worn alone and gives great shine and depth over a lipstick, Vamp is definitely a game changer. Non sticky, long lasting and buildable, I think it’s a new favourite.
It wouldn’t be a berry lipstick post without the addition of MAC Rebel. A lipstick that looks like a bright raspberry red on me, it took me a long time to get used to wearing this. Once MAC Rebel had fallen in my comfort zone, then it was love and daily wearing. Rebel is described as a midtonal cream plum, it is definitely a colour that looks different on each person. It’s a must have!
A contender in the lip lacquer category is the Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer in Eclipse. I reviewed this a while back and I loved the colour and how long lasting it was. I’m glad I’ve found it again as for a drugstore buy, it does rival some of the big named brands by way of quality and longevity.
Finally, another Charlotte Tilbury lipstick. This time it’s the KISSING Lipstick in Night Crimson. I bought this on a whim earlier in the year as Zoella had worn it in a video and I thought it was gorgeous. It looks a totally different colour on me that what it does on Zoe but it’s beautiful none the less. Plus, I have most of the items from The Vintage Vamp set and this is the lipstick that compliments the palette. I find that I definitely need to apply this colour with a lip brush for maximum effect. This post may contain PR samples that have been sent to me for consideration for review however all my opinions will be my own.
