Well, I’m going to hold my hands up and be totally honest about when I said at the beginning of Blogmas that I only buy myself two Holiday kits each year, as I’ve fibbed. In my defence, I had forgotten about the subject of today’s post as I had put it in my blogmas pile of things to do. Imagine my delight when I spotted it and realised I had five wonderful new treats to play with. Hurrah for excessive hoarding! My final holiday set is the Marc Jacobs The Sofia Lip Set, which sadly is no longer available for purchase, but each lipstick inside is available in it’s full size glory at Sephora, and in Harrods from Spring 2016.
Oh The Sofia, you really are a thing of beauty. Even the sparkly, glittery box has won me over before I even get to the glossy black patent clutch bag inside. Hidden inside the Marc Jacobs designed bag are five of Marc Jacobs beautiful Le Marc Lip Cremes in five shades of red gorgeousness, each packaged in a mini version of their signature black gloss outer. I must first of all say just how much of a bargain that this set worked out to be. Each full sized Le Marc Lip Creme retails at $30 and the Marc Jacobs The Sofia Lip Set came in at $45 for the five mini tubes. Now, without doing a load of maths, The Sofia is actually more cost effective for the set than buying a single tube of Le Marc Lip Creme. So, I’ve saved myself money really.
I’ve been a fan of the Marc Jacobs beauty range since it launched, so much so that I literally flew to America on the launch day to pick up my very first Lip Creme and Genius Gel Foundation. I saw flew like I just booked a ticket – I was going with work anyway. Anyway, I’ve been a total convert to the Lip Cremes since then and one of my favourite shades is Happy Ending. I’ve bee dying to try more but I’ve been at total loss what to go for since the range is so extensive so The Sofia couldn’t have been any more perfect. The Lip Cremes are all the same super pigmented, intense colour in one swipe with a velvet, semi matte finish. Packed with seaberry, meranti and cocoa butter, they give lips moisture and hydration, meaning that topping up throughout the day (which will be rare) is really easy and lips aren’t left with unsightly dry patches. When I swatched each shade on my arm, I actually couldn’t get the stain of without using an oil based remover, so as you can imagine, it has a great hold on your lips. I’m so impressed.
The shades within the Marc Jacobs The Sofia Lip Set are as follows:
Infamous (228): Muted Warm Pink
Dashing (206): Red with Cool Undertone
So Sofia (236) Bright Coral Red
Boy Gorgeous (222): Dark Magenta Red
Blow (210): Dark Berry Velvet
Although it os a bit of a pain that this is no longer available online, it’s always worth having a look in store at Sephora, if you are passing, or in the Flagship Marc Jacobs stores. As I mentioned earlier, Marc Jacobs will soon be available for all us UK dwelling folks with the exclusivity falling to Harrods. I believe it will be around March time when it hits Harrods, and I for one am so excited. Each lipstick in the set is available to buy in it’s full size, and I’ll leave you with a quick question. Just which lipstick from the five do you think I will be buying full size?
