Lets start today’s post of with some fun facts. The first ever Leighton Denny polish that I ever owned was Supermodel; a beautiful mink shade that suits all skin tones. The second fun fact is that it was my Nanna who got me onto Leighton Denny. What a trend setter she is! Since my first foray into the Leighton Denny brand, I have been hooked and I generally only wear three different brands of polish; Leighton Denny, OPI and Essie, due to the incredible selection of colours available and fantastic quality of the polish. I’ve not had a new LD polish since last Christmas, so I was due some new shades especially when I saw the AW15 Leighton Denny I am Goddess Collection. Major swoonage going on there.
The I am Goddess Collection is a six shade collection featuring some of the most amazing glittery, shimmery duo chrome colours that I’ve ever seen. It’s a bit of a shame that I can’t wear any of these for work with my super strict uniform standards but when it’s my days off, and like this week, my annual leave – I am all over them. Although I have three of the shades in the collection, I am seriously tempted to pick up the remaining three as I can’t get enough of the metallic shimmers.
Aphrodite’s Love is an olive cream with a metallic duo chrome finish. It reminds me very much of the MAC eyeshadow Club, with its silver grey chrome contrasting against the olive cream. On the colour wheel, I have shown one coat versus two and although two coats is sufficient for the colour to stand out, a third would intensify and deepen the olive colouring. You can see the swatch with three coats on Hayley from Tea Party Beauty’s post.
My favourite shade from the three has to be Athena Divine, and when I received my three shades, this was the first one that I put on. After sharing a photo on Instagram, so many people commented on its beautiful deep inky blue colour with metallic pink and purple shimmer. I don’t usually reach for an deep midnight blue and even though I own colours such as OPI’s Russian Navy, I have to be in the mood for such a darker than usual colour. It’s quite nice to delve outside of my comfort zone especially with a colour as special as Athena Divine.
Venus Desire has really made an impact and this gorgeous chocolate brown with rose gold shimmer is perfect for the winter months where a deep nail colour is de rigour. It actually makes a welcome change from wearing deep purple and berry shades, as not only will the chocolate brown flatter all skin tones, but the rose gold accents are so on trend it hurts.
As with all Leighton Denny polishes, the quality is one of the best that I have used in a polish and even with my pitiful weak nails, I get a minimum of three days wear and even more when I get a professional manicure. Leighton Denny polishes haven’t stayed at the top of lust list for so long for no reason. Once again, I am more than impressed with the shade range, finish and formula and I definitely recommend the I am Goddess Collection to those of you who like a luxe look. At £11 a polish, they’re not the cheapest but don’t forget the Marks and Spencer stock the full range, and often do discount weekends where you can get up to 20% off.
