Beyoncé inspired make up with Joan Collins Timeless Beauty

Did anyone watch the Met Gala last Monday? Oh, I was awake for hours waiting to get a glimpse of those stunning outfits. As usual, there were a few random takes on the theme; China, Through the Looking Glass, but most were absolutely stunning. The winners for me were Rosie Huntington-Whitely, Jennifer Lawrence, SJP and of course, the Queen Bee. Beyoncé literally stole the show and by turning up nearly two hours late and after all the other guests had entered the gala. Dressed in a sheer and heavily embellished Givenchy dress, there is no arguing that Bey looked incredible and although I’m not sure that the dress fitted the theme, I really wanted the dress to fit me! As there is no way that I can get my love handles to suddenly disappear and leave me with abs of steel, the only thing I can do is steal her make up look. So, here’s how I made myself Met Gala carpet ready using Joan Collins Timeless Beauty*.

For a flawless base I’ve used the JCTB First Base in Warm Medium. A foundation with a medium coverage but yet feels light and airy and looks very natural. A touch of Fade To Perfect concealer in Medium helps to cover up any blemishes without looking cakey, and is also a great concealer to use under eye as it contains fine light reflecting particles. Beyoncé’s make up artist; L’Oreal’s Sir John has created a very fresh and almost childlike look on Bey. Her skin is glowing and youthful so I very lightly contoured using the Too Faced Cocoa Contour Palette, and used the Light Cocoa colour to give my skin a youthful and bright look.

It’s Beyoncé’s eyes that have drawn me in the most. I just love the wide awake doll eyes, with a modern twist on a black winged liner. Brows are kept light and natural so I ran my Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz through mine and combed through. My eyes were primed using MAC Paint Pot in Painterly for a smooth base, and then using Dark Cocoa from the Too Faced Cocoa Contour, I ran the contour over my eye socket for definition. By a freak coincidence, Bey and I are wearing the same eyeliner. I knew we were soul mates. The L’oreal Super Slim Liner is quite possibly the best liquid felt pen liner I have ever used in my life. It practically draws a perfect wing for you. Using the JCTB Contour Eye Liner Pencil in Black, I tightlined under my eyelid and into my lash line for an extra black finish. I left the lower lash line bare to give the illusion of wide open eyes.

I was wondering what to use to create the icy mint blue lid when I remembered that I had bought a gorgeous Bobbi Brown single shadow from the airport last Summer. It’s called Sea Glass and it’s a beautiful sea foam green. As it doesn’t pack enough punch for what I needed it for, I mixed it with a little drop of MAC mixing medium to make more of an eye liner to run over the top of the black winged liner. Lashes were then defined with two coats of YSL Faux Cils Babydoll to complete the eye make up look.

With all emphasis on the eyes, I’ve kept lips simple by applying JCTB Divine Lips in Marilyn. A gorgeous neutral with a warm rose brown finish, I’ve been wearing this colour at every opportunity. A dab of JCTB Glorious Gloss in Ava in the centre of the lips gives a plumped up, yet natural finish. Ava is a wonderful colour and the pale pink-bronze looks gorgeous with a tan.
