I can’t keep up with all these new releases from Benefit at the moment but when I saw that there were two new additions to The POREfessional range, I was overcome with excitement. It took me a while to get onto the original The POREfessional, and I have raved about its silky smoothing skin properties ever since. I keep Agent Zero Shine in my work make up bag for on the go oil eradication, and License to Blot has become a make up bag staple. I was gutted when I ran out of not just one, but four of my Benefaves; The POREfessional, Air Patrol, They’re Real Lash Primer and Roller Lash, all in one week. Rather than getting a new The POREfessional, I have swapped it for the new Matte Rescue and have been trying the new Instant Wipe Out masks in it’s place to see how they compare.
I flit between two foundation finishes; a matte finish for work and a more natural glow for when I am at home. I was really interested to see how the Benefit The POREfessional Matte Rescue was to hold up at work, especially as it promises a matte finish and I would be wearing it with a well known matte foundation in the form of Double Wear. I don’t need to wear a great deal of primer with Double Wear as it really is a heavy duty foundation but a primer does help it glide on and stay in place for several hours, or days if needed! The difference in Matte Rescue and the Original The POREfessional is apparent from just opening the tubes. The creamy silicone formula of the original has been replaced by a lightweight gel formula. As it is mattifying, I only apply it to areas where I want a matte finish; the forehead, cheeks, nose and chin. It doesn’t look matte at first and I do need to leave it to set after I have applied it. Matte it most certainly is. Benefit suggest adding The POREfessional over the top, however I found that on my skin, I didn’t need to add anything else. It’s very cooling, and it sinks in to leave a porcelain finish that definitely has no shine. What I do find though, is that after an hour or so, I’m starting to see oily patches where I didn’t with The POREfessional, especially on my forehead. In my honest opinion, it’s not as hard wearing as the original so it isn’t ideal for work where I am prone to becoming very shiny. Instead, I’ve been using it on my days at home, combined with a more dewy foundation, and still adding it to problem areas. I’ve found that it tends to have more of an effect when I’m not rushed off my feet, and when I’m not getting all hot and flustered. It’s not my favourite out of the The POREfessional range, but I’m certainly not discounting it all and I have been using it in place of the original as my make up does sit really well on top of it but I will be purchasing another tube of The POREfessional very shortly.
I’ve not taken a good look into Benefit’s skincare, yet after using the new The POREfessional Instant Rescue masks, I am really looking forward to trying more of the skincare line. A brand new product that is unlike any face mask that I have seen before, has a Spy Gal button filled with serum that is popped and released into the mask inside the packet. With 8 masks in the box, they promise to exfoliate and remove impurities that clog up pores. The masks are an unusual shape and can be used either across the nose, forehead on even down the forehead and nose for a burst of instant action. With two different textures on the front and reverse of the mask, one side exfoliates, whilst the other wipes away impurities. I haven’t noticed a huge difference in pore size after using but my skin felt a lot cleaner and tighter without feeling sore after use. My skin definitely looked brighter and felt smoother and after ten minutes of wearing the mask, it felt fresher. I’m halfway through my box of masks and have been using two a week for a quick fix, especially when I have been working as my skin does have a tendency to feel congested and tight. The serum soaks into my skin quite quickly and the ten minutes recommended time is just right. After I’ve taken the mask off, the left over serum should be wiped off with the reverse side of the mask however I quite like to pat it into my skin for an added boost. The first time I did use the masks, I did notice a slight tingling sensation but now I don’t feel anything but a lovely cooling feeling. I’m really quite impressed with these little masks especially due to the innovative shape that targets the areas that are prone to blocked pores.
With the entire Benefit The POREfessional range at my disposal, I feel like I am covered for my particular needs. I do still think that the Original The POREfessional will always be my favourite and when I have a new tube, I’m going to try and see if I can make it work with Matte Rescue and see if I can get the oily patches to stop appearing after an hour. So, whilst I’m sat here in my Instant Wipeout Mask, I ask you if you have tried the new products from Benefit and I would love for you to leave your thoughts in the comments below.
