Do you know what makes me giggle? The fact that Space NK now put to one side the new in and limited edition products that they know I will love. If that’s not customer service, then I don’t know what is. There was no doubt in my mind that I would be picking up the newest collaboration from Becca. Chrissy Teigen, although an unusual choice in my mind for a make up collaboration, has turned out to be somewhat of a creative genius when it comes to the shades. I adore Chrissy Teigen; smart, funny, witty as hell with her replies on Twitter. An unusual choice, but a great one as well. The palette is a limited edition and still available for £45 from Space NK. I will compare the Becca x Chrissy Teigen Palette to the hugely popular Becca x Jaclyn Hill Palette later in the post but for now, lets focus on Chrissy.
Housed in a square compact featured a pink watercolour design and Chrissy’s signature, the palette opens up to reveal a large interior mirror and the four pans of product. Two highlighters, one blush and one bronzer, with three brand new shades and one from the permanent collection. They are warm toned, and I can see why people have avoided the palette because it does run slightly dark however, on my medium skin tone, the colours are quite muted. It’s probably one of the better palettes I’ve picked up with my skin tone in mind.
The Shimmering Skin Perfector in Rose Gold, which is part of the permanent collection, has no difference when compared to the original. It’s a medium copper, with warm and slightly red undertones that looks more gold when on my skin. It has a beautiful metallic frosted sheen that does transfer onto the skin. It’s the highlighter that makes skin look wet and glossy. I adore it.
Hibiscus Bloom Luminous Bloom is medium bright pink with warm undertones and a very fine pearlescent golden shimmer when applied. It’s a colour that I would wear a lot, and it diffuses out well with a fluffy brush. Don’t let the brightness of the pink put you off, as a little does go a long way and it is quite subtle when applied with a light hand.
I’m so glad that I didn’t buy the Becca Sunlit Bronzer in Ipanema Sun when it launched as Malibu Soleil in the Becca palette is so similar in colour. A medium – dark bronzer with gold undertones and a very slight shimmer to it. It doesn’t look shimmery on the skin, but has a slight satin sheen that stops it from looking matte. It’s a bronzer shade that I would go for time and again, as the pigmentation and colour of the product shows up on my skin.
The second Shimmering Skin Perfector in Beach Nectar is one of the prettiest shades of highlighter that I’ve seen. Slightly reminiscent of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Nicole Guerriero Kitty Kat shade, Beach Nectar is imprinted with the Becca logo, and Chrissy’s love heart. A warm, peachy coral with a golden metallic sheen, a little does go a long way. It is very buildable but with the metallic finish it has, I prefer to wear this a lot sheerer.
I did a comparison story on my Insta Stories when the palette first came out and I still stand by the fact that these are two very different palettes. I know that a lot people were saying that as they had the Becca x Jaclyn palette, they weren’t going to bother with the Chrissy palette but they are different. The Jaclyn palette isn’t as warm toned as the Chrissy palette, and I have found the shades much easier to wear from the Chrissy palette. Not only that, but all four shades within the Chrissy palette can be used at any one time, whereas I found that the Jaclyn palette limited me. I didn’t like Prosecco Pop on me, Pampelmousse was so pigmented that I had to be very light handed and Amaretto was quite muddy on my skin. The only similarity that I can find is that the Becca pink blush spectrum is still very present – they do like a medium bright pink blush.
Although it doesn’t seem that the Becca x Chrissy Teigen Palette has had as much of an impact as the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Palette, I actually prefer this palette to the Jaclyn simply due to the amount of shades which I can wear with ease – ie all of them. I definitely made the right choice with the Becca x Chrissy Teigen Palette, I love it.
