Looking after my skin is exceptionally important to me, and now I have the basics down to a tee for my skin, I have started to dip into more specialist treatments to improve areas on my face that have been privvy to sun damage. I’m a firm believer in facials and in depth treatments, but sometimes, you just want to spend a little bit of time, whilst at home, dealing with these problematic areas. One of my main concerns is the pigmentation that I have near my right eye. Over the years of living abroad, and travelling to exotic destinations, I hold my hands up and admit that it’s only been in the last few years where I have been protecting my skin properly. As I was silly in my sun care, I’ve now had to focus on trying to reverse the damaged areas whilst protecting them from further damage. Here’s where Anne Semonin steps in. A brand that I have found in Harrods, that although pricey, it has been worth it’s weight in gold.
Anne Semonin is a totally new brand to me, and it stood out to me for two reasons. One, because I had never heard of it, let alone tried it, and two because it promised a powerful treatment that corrected and protected. Just what I was looking for. I got the Anne Semonin Brightening Coffret, a gift set that included the White Star Brightening Serum and the Brightening Cream all wrapped up in an Anne Semonin presentation box. With the Brightening Cream retailing for £74 and the Brightening Serum at £96 when bought individually, the gift set is a fantastic bargain and a great way to try both products whilst saving over £40. I’m so glad I saw the gift set as I don’t think I would have been as willing to purchase the individual items at that price.
I’ve been using the Brightening treatments on alternate evenings, as I have found that they do leave a slight tingle when I apply them to my skin. Over the last 6 weeks of usage, I have been focusing on the area near my right eye more intensely than the rest of my face, even though I have been applying it all over. Since using both items, I have seen a huge difference in the pigmentation on my face, and it has reduced in size and colour. Not only that, but my skin in general looks fresher and brighter. Radiance is restored and I find that with the environmental changes that I have to deal with whilst up in the air, the Anne Semonin products are helping my skin from absorbing these changes. There’s no dryness or patches of skin that look damaged and I feel like my skin isn’t taking in the pollution that I am so used to. I especially notice this when I wash my face after work. Usually, the bowl of water is black from the dirt, dust and fumes, and it’s like I have some sort of protective barrier on my face. Both cream and serum are a joy to apply, with them both sinking into skin quickly and without leaving a greasy residue. I also love the scent of these. Clean, fresh and luxurious.
I’m going to briefly touch on packaging, and only because the packaging shouldn’t the reason why you choose a product. First of all, its a plastic tube with handy pump dispenser and protective lid for both products. They are easy to transport, easy to look after and with no chance of spilling or getting broken. So, for that it’s a winner. My only downside to this packaging is that it doesn’t reflect the price point. Now, I know that you are paying for the product inside but I have a friend who makes his own skincare, and he uses the exact same packaging, yet his prices aren’t that high. I think for a high end product, it needs high end packaging. That’s just my views, but I like a product that I can display, and to me it just doesn’t do it for me in that respect.
For me, the serum especially is my wonder product. For the difference in my skin, it is worth paying the £96 in my opinion. My pigmentation has diminished, my skin overall feels and looks so much fresher and to be feel it beog protected from environmental damage is a god send, especially in a job like mine. I’m so glad that I touch the plunge with these products and I am really looking forward into addressing some more skin concerns and using products from Anne Semonin to combat them.
