Taking a break from being all fashionista, I’m heading back into familiar territory and doing what I do best. Talking about lipstick of course. Having racked up another four Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipsticks in as many weeks, the addiction is well and truly real. Out of all the liquid lipsticks that I own, I get the most excited about the shades from Anastasia Beverly Hills, and I can’t help myself from getting a few every time I nip in Sephora. Most recently I’ve bought Rio, Madison, Dolce and Soft Lilac and I’m dying to head back to America to hunt down some more. The Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick Soft Lilac has become one of my most wearable shades, and it goes with just about every make up look.
The shade Soft Lilac is a pale violet with slightly pinky blue undertones and errs on the cooler side of the spectrum. Although I do tend to wear more warmer shades, I love how Soft Lilac looks on me, and I find the shade to be really flattering. Aside from when I wear it at work, in a dry atmosphere, it is a comfortable shade to wear and I very rarely feel like it’s drying out my lips. Of course, as with any matte, they aren’t hydrating at all, and lip prep is essential before wear. The doe foot applicator gives an even and easy application, with a lovely precise finish and as the colour is quite deep, I don’t find it necessary to wear any lip liner for a defined look.
The Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipsticks have a really great formula that goes on glossy yet dries down into a perfect matte. When applying Soft Lilac, or any other shade, I find that applying a thin coat to one lip and letting it dry before applying to my other lip gives a smoother finish. Free from bobbling on the lip, and with an extremely long lasting finish, Soft Lilac has amazing staying power of around seven hours. It does fade from the centre but doesn’t leave that unsightly ring of colour around the mouth, yet leaves a stain across the lips. I do find that with any liquid lipstick, it’s best to remove the whole colour before reapplying, just for a nice and smooth finish.
My ultimate goal is to own every single shade that Anastasia Beverly Hills make, so on my next visit to Sephora, I’m aiming to get the exlusive Sugar Plum as well as a more natural muted shade like Kathyrn, a brown berry that is so pretty.
